Siting of the Greenhouse
One of the main considerations is the availability of light and ideally your greenhouse should be positioned where
it will catch as much of the southerly light as possible.
When the greenhouse is positioned with its roof ridge running in an East to West direction, the distribution of
sun light is usually fairly even and this should provide optimum growing conditions for young plants. However,
please bear in mind that trees, walls, fences and buildings can prove a problem, especially in the spring and
autumn when the sun is relatively low in the sky. Try to avoid sites which would shade your greenhouse for much
of the day during these times of the year.
If you don’t have your greenhouse sited to maximise the best light conditions available, you will achieve
disappointing end results with your plants.
Good foundations for the greenhouse base frame
Your greenhouse comes supplied with a sturdy steel base frame. You should provide a level and secure foundation
to fix this base frame to in order to prevent movement or damage to your greenhouse during periods of bad
weather.
Whilst your greenhouse is supplied with fixings to allow it to be fixed directly into the soil it is not nearly as secure
or as strong as bolting the base frame to a hard surface. We strongly advise fixing the greenhouse base frame into
a hard concrete surface.
The most popular method is to lay concrete flag stones ensuring an overlap of at least 6 inches outside the
dimensions of the greenhouse base. Your steel base can then be securely bolted to this foundation.
Before you start assembly, please allow a day to assemble your greenhouse and have someone on hand to help
out. Attempting to assemble this product on your own could lead to damaged panels or framework.
