Installation of Energiser and Fence
Electric fences should be installed and operated so that they cause no
danger to persons, animals or surroundings and as far as is reasonably
practicable, they are out of reach of children and not subject to mechanical
damage. Never connect more than one energiser to the same single or
multi-wire fence. Any other fence systems powered by a different energiser
should be at least 2.5 metres apart. If this gap is to be closed, use non-
conductive material or an isolated metal barrier. Any electric fence or part
thereof installed along a public road or pathway should be identified by
warning signs at regular intervals. The warning sign should
have a yellow background and be at least 100 mm x 200 mm.
The words “Caution Electric Fence” or symbol should appear in
black, permanent marking on both sides of the sign and be at
least 25mm in height.
• Barbed wire must not be electried.
• If an electric fence has to be installed in the vicinity of overhead power
lines it should not cross above it or run in parallel to it for any great
distance. If it is necessary to pass under overhead powerlines it should be
done at right angles and the vertical distance between any fence wire and
the surface of the earth should not exceed two metres.
• If an electric fence has to be installed near any communication lines, the
distance from the lines and the fence or any part of it should be more than
two metres.
• If the energiser is installed in the vicinity of any building, care must be
taken to ensure that the earth for the electric fence is more than 10 metres
away from any domestic electricity board earth or telecommunications
system earth.
• Follow the manufacturer’s directions for proper earthing of your electric
fence.
• Use insulated cable for connecting leads that run inside buildings or
underground. Take care to avoid damage from animal hooves or vehicle
tyres and use a conduit of insulating material if needed.
• Do not install connecting leads in the same conduit as the mains supply
wiring, communication cables or data cables.
• Low output energisers provide satisfactory and safe performance for
deterring birds, household pets and training animals such as cows.
• If the electric fence is intended to deter birds from roosting on buildings,
do not connect the fence wire to the earth terminal. Use a warning sign at
any point where a person may access the fence wire.

Safety
• Keep combustible materials away from the connection to the fence
energiser.
•If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its
service agent or similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
Warning: Avoid touching electric fence wires, especially with the head,
neck or torso. Do not climb over, through or under multi-wire electric
fence. Use a gate or a specially designed crossing point. Incorporate a
non-electrified gate or crossing stile where an electric fence crosses a
public pathway. At any such crossing the adjacent electric fence should
carry warning signs.

Fence Line Maintenance
• Regularly test voltage at the furthest point on the fence line from the

Battery Maintenance
Solar Battery Maintenance
• A low battery can be recharged by removing the battery and using a
6-volt charger (Rutland part no. 22-120).
• When not in use, fully charge the energiser battery before storage.
Warning: Do not charge the solar powered electric fence energiser
battery with an automobile battery charger as this will damage the
battery.
The normal life of the internal battery is typically three to four years
provided it is properly maintained. A solar fence energiser that is being
stored should be placed in the sun for three days every three months
to recharge the battery. Any fence energiser in use that doesn’t receive
sunlight for a period of two weeks should be recharged for three days
in sunlight with the energiser turned OFF.

Warranty
This energiser is warranted to be free from manufacturing defects for two years from the
date of purchase by the end user. Proof of purchase is required for warranty consideration.
If no sales receipt is available, the date of manufacture will be used to determine the warranty
period.
The warranty does not apply to any defect in the product caused by improper installation,
misuse, tampering, neglect, moisture or any other reason not related to defects in material or
workmanship of the product.
Warranties are not assignable or transferable. It is for the benet of and given only to the
first consumer purchaser of the product, and shall not be for the benefit of nor given to any
subsequent owners or any other user or to any person.
The obligation of Rutland Electric Fencing Co. Ltd. under warranty is limited only to repairing
or replacing, at its discretion, any part of the product that is defective and is covered by the
terms of this warranty. If any covered defect occurs during the warranty, return the product
to the retailer for rectification who will either undertake the repair or forward the energiser
to ourselves. In no case shall Rutland Electric Fencing Co. Ltd. be liable for incidental,
consequential, third party, special or indirect damages of any kind.
LIMITATION OF DAMAGES
The directions for use of this product should be followed care-fully. It is impossible to eliminate
all risk inherently associated with use of the product. The effectiveness of Rutland brands
of fence energisers may depend on the effectiveness of connections, interruption of power
source, accidental shorting of wires, weather conditions, or the manner of use or application,
all of which are beyond the control of Rutland Electric Fencing Co. Ltd. or the seller. The buyer
shall assume all such risks.
Rutland Electric Fencing Co. Ltd. warrants that this product is t for the purposes for which
it was designed and referred to in the directions for use, subject to the inherent risks referred
to above. Rutland Electric Fencing Co. Ltd. makes no other expressed or implied warranty

Une clôture électrique doit être installée de manière à ce qu’elle ne pose
pas de risque aux personnes, aux animaux et aux objets à proximité, et,
dans la mesure où cela est raisonnablement possible, de manière à être
hors de portée des enfants et à ne pas subir de dommages mecaniques.
Ne jamais raccorder plus d’un électrificateur à la même clôture à un
ou plusieurs fils. Tout autre dispositif de clôture alimenté par un autre
électrificateur doit être distant d’au moins 2,5 mètres. Si cet intervalle
doit être clos, utiliser un matériau non conducteur ou une barrière
métallique isolée. Toute clôture électrique qui est installée en partie ou
sur tout son parcours le long d’une voie ou d’un chemin public doit
être identifiée par des panneaux d’avertissement disposés à intervalles
réguliers. Le panneau d’avertissement doit avoir un fond jaune et
mesurer au moins 100 mm sur 200 mm. « Attention – Clôture
électrique » ou un symbole approprié doivent apparaître en
caractères noirs permanents sur les deux côtés du panneau et
mesurer au moins 25 mm de haut
• Le l barbelé ne doit pas être électrié.
• Si une clôture électrique doit être installée à proximité de lignes
électriques aériennes, elle ne doit pas passer au-dessus d’elles ni leur
être parallèle sur une distance importante. S’il est nécessaire de faire
passer la clôture sous des lignes électriques aériennes, le passage doit
se faire à angle droit et la distance verticale entre tout fil de clôture et la
surface de la terre ne doit pas dépasser deux mètres.
• Si une clôture électrique doit être installée près de lignes de
communication, tous les éléments de la clôture doivent se trouver à
plus de deux mètres de ces lignes.
• Si l’électricateur est installé à proximité d’un bâtiment, il faut s’assurer
que la mise à la terre de la clôture électrique se trouve à plus de
10 mètres de tout boîtier électrique domestique de mise à la terre ou
de toute mise à la terre d’un dispositif de télécommunication.
• Pour une mise à la terre adéquate de la clôture électrique, suivre les
directives de son fabricant.
• Utiliser un câble isolé pour les conducteurs de raccordement enterrés
ou à l’intérieur d’un bâtiment. Veiller à éviter les dommages causés par
les pieds des animaux ou les pneus de véhicules et, si nécessaire, utiliser
un conduit en matériau isolant.
• Ne pas installer de conducteurs de raccordement dans le même
conduit que des câbles d’alimentation du secteur, des câbles de
communication ou des câbles de transmission de données.
• Les électricateurs à sortie faible sont efcaces et sans danger pour
écarter les oiseaux, les animaux de compagnie et les animaux telles que
les vaches.

• Si l’objet de la clôture électrique est d’empêcher les oiseaux
de construire leurs nids sur un bâtiment, ne pas raccorder le l
de la clôture à la borne de mise à la terre. Utiliser un panneau
d’avertissement à tout endroit où une personne est susceptible d’avoir
accès à la clôture.

Sécurité
• Maintenir les matériaux combustibles à distance de l’électricateur.
• Les électricateurs alimentés par le secteur ne doivent être utilisés qu’à
l’intérieur.
• Dans le cas d’un électricateur alimenté par le secteur, veiller à ce que
tous les éléments de la clôture électrique maintiennent une isolation
adéquate entre le circuit de la clôture et le réseau d’alimentation.
• Sauf si l’électricateur est certié pour un fonctionnement optimal
à l’extérieur avec un niveau de protection minimal de IPX4, il faut le
protéger contre les intempéries.
• Si le cordon d’alimentation électrique est endommagé, il doit être
remplacé par le fabricant, un de ses agents d’entretien ou une
personne ayant les mêmes qualifications, afin d’éviter de créer un
danger.
Avertissement: Éviter de toucher les fils d’une clôture électrique, en
particulier avec la tête, le cou ou le torse. Ne pas grimper au-dessus
d’une clôture électrique à plusieurs fils ni passer à travers ou au-dessous.
Utiliser un portillon ou un point de passage spécialement désigné à cet
effet. À l’endroit où une clôture électrique traverse un chemin public,
installer un portail non électrié ou un échalier. Pour toute traversée de
ce type, la clôture électrique adjacente doit être dotée de panneaux
d’avertissement.

Elektrozäune sollten so installiert und betrieben werden, dass sie
keine Gefahr für Personen, Tiere oder Umgebungen herbeiführen
und möglichst außerhalb der Reichweite von Kindern liegen und
keiner mechanischen Beschädigung unterliegen. Niemals mehr als
eine Energiequelle an ein und denselben ein- oder mehrdrahtigen
Zaun anschließen. Sonstige durch eine andere Energiequelle versorgte
Zaunsysteme sollten mindestens einen Abstand von 2,5 Meter
aufweisen. Falls diese Lücke geschlossen werden soll, ein nichtleitendes
Material oder eine isolierte Metallschwelle verwenden. Ein Elektrozaun,
der ganz oder teilweise einer öffentlichen Straße entlang verläuft, sollte
in regelmäßigen Abständen mit Warnschildern gekennzeichnet sein.
Das Warnschild sollte einen gelben Hintergrund und eine Mindestgröße
von 100 mm x 200 mm aufweisen. Die Wörter „Vorsicht
Elektrozaun“ oder ein entsprechendes Symbol sollten in
permanenter schwarzer Markierung auf beiden Seiten des
Schilds in einer Mindestschriftgröße von 25 mm erscheinen
• Stacheldraht darf nicht elektrisiert werden.
• Wenn ein Elektrozaun in der Nähe von Starkstrom-Freileitungen
errichtet werden muss, sollte der Zaun diese nicht überqueren
bzw. nicht über eine längere Strecke parallel dazu verlaufen. Falls es
erforderlich ist, Starkstrom-Freileitungen zu unterqueren, sollte dies
rechtwinklig erfolgen, und der vertikale Abstand zwischen jeglichem
Zaundraht und der Erdoberäche sollte zwei Meter nicht übersteigen.
• Wenn ein Elektrozaun in der Umgebung von Fernmeldeleitungen
errichtet werden muss, sollte der Abstand zwischen den Leitungen und
dem Zaun oder einem Teil davon mehr als zwei Meter betragen.
• Wenn die Energiequelle in der Nähe eines Gebäudes installiert wird,
muss sichergestellt werden, dass die Erdung für den Elektrozaun mehr
als 10 Meter von der Erdung des Gebäudesicherungskastens bzw. eines
Telekommunikationssystems entfernt ist.
• Für ordnungsgemäße Erdung des Elektrozauns die Anweisungen des
Herstellers befolgen.
• Zum Anschließen der Anschlusskabel im Innern von Gebäuden oder
unterirdischer Anschlusskabel isolierte Kabel verwenden. Beschädigung
durch Tierhufe oder Fahrzeugreifen in Betracht ziehen und vermeiden
und ggf. einen Leitungskanal aus isolierendem Material verwenden.
• Keine Anschlusskabel im gleichen Leitungskanal verlegen wie
Netzversorgungskabel, Kommunikationskabel oder Datenkabel.
• Energiequellen mit niedriger Spannungsabgabe bieten
zufriedenstellende und sichere Leistung zur Abschreckung von Vögeln,
Haustieren und Vieh, z.B. von Kühen.

• Wenn der Elektrozaun zur Abschreckung von Vögeln auf
Gebäudesimsen, den Zaundraht nicht an die Erdungsklemme
anschließen. An allen Stellen, an denen eine Person Zugang zum
Zaundraht haben könnte, ein Warnschild anbringen.

Sicherheit
• Brennbare Materialien vom Anschluss der Zaun-Energiequelle
fernhalten.
• Die Netzenergiequellen sind nur für Gebrauch in Gebäuden ausgelegt.
• Bei Netzenergiequellen sicherstellen, dass alle
Elektrozaunkomponenten angemessene Isolation zwischen dem
Zaunschaltkreis und dem Versorgungsnetz bieten.
• Falls keine Zertizierung für Gebrauch im Freien mit mindestens IPX4-
Schutz vorliegt, die Energiequelle in Bezug auf das Wetter schützen.
• Falls das Versorgungskabel beschädigt ist, muss es, um ein Risiko zu
vermeiden, durch den Hersteller, dessen Servicevertreter oder eine
ähnlich qualizierte Person ersetzt werden.
Warnung: Berührung von Elektrozaundrähten vermeiden, besonders
mit dem Kopf, Nacken oder Oberkörper. Keine mehrdrahtigen
Elektrozäune unter-, über- oder durchqueren. Ein Tor oder einen speziell
ausgelegten Überquerungspunkt verwenden. Ein nicht elektrisiertes Tor
oder eine Überquerung einbauen, wo ein Elektrozaun einen öffentlichen
Weg überquert. Bei allen derartigen Überquerungen sollte der
angrenzende Elektrozaun Warnschilder aufweisen.

Alvorens te beginnen
Installatie van schrikdraadapparaat en afrastering:
Schrikdraadafrastering moet zodanig worden geïnstalleerd en bediend
dat deze geen gevaar vormt voor personen, dieren of de omgeving
en, voor zover als dat redelijkerwijs uitvoerbaar is, buiten het bereik
van kinderen is en niet onderhevig is aan mechanische beschadiging.
Sluit nooit meer dan één schrikdraadapparaat op dezelfde een- of
meerdraadse afrastering aan. Alle andere afrasteringssystemen die
door een andere schrikdraadapparaat van stroom worden voorzien,
moeten minstens 2,5 meter van elkaar zijn. Als deze opening gesloten
moet worden, gebruik dan niet-geleidend materiaal of een geïsoleerde
metalen afsluiting. Elke schrikdraadafrastering die geheel of gedeeltelijk
langs een openbare weg of openbaar pad is geïnstalleerd, moet op
regelmatige intervallen met waarschuwingsborden worden aangegeven.
Het waarschuwingsbord moet een gele achtergrond hebben
en minstens 100 mm x 200 mm zijn. De woorden “Pas op,
schrikdraad” of het symbool moeten zwart zijn, aan beide
kanten van het bord permanent gemarkeerd zijn, en minstens
25 mm hoog zijn.
• Prikkeldraad mag niet onder stroom worden gezet.
• Als een schrikdraadafrastering in de buurt van bovengrondse
sterkstroomleidingen moet worden geïnstalleerd, mag deze de
leidingen niet erboven kruisen of over een lange afstand parallel eraan
lopen. Als de afrastering onder bovengrondse elektrische leidingen
moet lopen, moet dit loodrecht gebeuren en de verticale afstand
tussen een schrikdraad en het oppervlak van de aarde mag niet meer
dan twee meter zijn.
• Als schrikdraadafrastering nabij communicatieleidingen moet worden
geïnstalleerd, moet de afstand vanaf de leidingen en de afrastering of
enig onderdeel ervan meer dan twee meter zijn.
• Als de schrikdraadapparaat in de buurt van een gebouw wordt
geïnstalleerd, moet ervoor worden gezorgd dat de aarding voor
de schrikdraadafrastering meer dan 10 meter van de aarding
van de aansluitkast van een woning of de aarding van een
telecommunicatiesysteem vandaan is.
• Volg de aanwijzingen van de fabrikant voor de juiste aarding van uw
schrikdraadafrastering.
• Gebruik geïsoleerde kabel voor het aansluiten van kabels die binnen
in gebouwen of onder de grond lopen. Zorg dat u schade als gevolg
van dierenhoeven of voertuigbanden vermijdt en gebruik zo nodig een
buis van isolerend materiaal.
• Installeer aansluitkabels niet in dezelfde buis als de
netvoedingsbedrading, communicatiekabels of datakabels.
• Schrikdraadapparaats met lage uitgangsspanning leveren goede en
veilige prestaties voor het afschrikken van vogels en huisdieren en het
trainen van dieren zoals koeien.
