The laser guide radiation used in the thermometer is
Class II with < 1mW and 630-670nm wavelengths.

do not project the laser beam directly into the eyes of

ing product labels increases the risk of exposure to laser
radiation.

Handle the instrument with care. Treat it as you would

Do not use on a ladder or unstable support. Stable
footing on a solid surface enables better control of the
product in unexpected situations.

Use the product in accordance with these instructions
and in the manner intended for the product, taking
into account the working conditions and the work
to be performed. Use of the product for operations

Use battery products only with specifically designated
battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create
a risk of injury and fire.
When servicing a battery product, use only identical
replacement parts. Follow instructions in the
Maintenance section of this manual. Use of unauthorized
parts or failure to follow Maintenance instructions may
create a risk of shock or injury.
Know your battery product. Read operator’s manual
carefully. Learn its applications and limitations, as well
as the specific potential hazards related to this power
tool. Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric
shock, fire, or serious injury.
Do not place battery products or their batteries near
fire or heat. This will reduce the risk of explosion and
possibly injury.
Do not crush, drop or damage battery pack. Do not
use a battery pack or charger that has been dropped
or received a sharp blow. A damaged battery is subject
to explosion. Properly dispose of a dropped or damaged
battery immediately.
Batteries can explode in the presence of a source
of ignition, such as a pilot light. To reduce the risk of
serious personal injury, never use any cordless product
in the presence of open flame. An exploded battery can
propel debris and chemicals. If exposed, flush with water
immediately.
Do not use battery tool in a damp or wet location.
Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock.
Under extreme usage or temperature conditions,
battery leakage may occur. If liquid comes in contact
with your skin, wash immediately with soap and water.
If liquid gets into your eyes, flush them with clean water
for at least 10 minutes, then seek immediate medical
attention. Following this rule will reduce the risk of serious
personal injury.
Save these instructions. Refer to them frequently and use
them to instruct others who may use this product. If you
loan someone this instrument, loan them these instructions
also.

use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features
and safety rules.

DATA MEMORY
Up to 10 temperature readings may be stored in memory.
FAHRENHEIT AND CELSIUS READINGS
Your infrared thermometercan be switched from Cº to Fº readings
by pressing the ºC/Fº key. Accurately measures temperatures
ranging from -20 ºC to 310 ºC (-4ºF to 590ºF).
LCD DISPLAY
The LCD display features a backlight that remains on while you
are taking measurements.
LASER POINTER
The laser pointer will show you the center of the target area
that is being read.
LOW BATTERY INDICATOR
The low battery indicator shows when the battery should be
replaced or recharged.
PROTECTIVE COVER
The protective cover helps prevent dirt or moisture from entering
the infrared receiver and laser areas, and is attached to the
thermometer for convenience.

UNPACKING
This product has been shipped completely assembled.
Carefully remove the product and any accessories from the
box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are
included.
WARNING:
Do not use this product if it is not completely assembled
or if any parts appear to be missing or damaged. Use of
a product that is not properly and completely assembled
could result in serious personal injury.
Inspect the product carefully to make sure no breakage or
damage occurred during shipping.
Do not discard the packing material until you have carefully
inspected and satisfactorily operated the product.

ASSEMBLY OPERATION OPERATION

not recommended for use with this product. Any such
alteration or modification is misuse and could result in a
hazardous condition leading to possible serious personal
injury.

Remember that a careless fraction of a second is sufficient
to inflict serious injury.
WARNING:
Always remove battery pack from the product when you are
assembling parts, making adjustments, cleaning, or when
not in use.

INSTALLING/REMOVING BATTERY PACK
See Figure 2, page 2.
To install the battery pack:
Unscrew the battery compartment cap.
NOTE: Do not remove the gasket inside the cap.
Insert the battery pack in the direction shown. Make sure
the raised rib on the battery pack aligns with the groove
in the battery compartment.
Place the cap over the battery pack and push down
until the cap meets the threads at the end of the battery
compartment.
Screw the cap on securely.
To remove the battery pack:
Unscrew the cap. The battery pack will disconnect and
be easy to remove.
Do not attempt to use this product if the battery cap is not
securely closed.
TAKING TEMPERATURE READINGS
See Figure 3, page 2.
Always remove the protective cover before taking a reading.
Replace the cover when you are finished taking readings or
before storing the thermometer.

BATTERY PACK REMOVAL AND PREPARATION FOR RECYCLING
WARNING:
For the most accurate readings, follow these hints:
NOTE: Temperaturereadingscanonlybemeasuredon a

Accuracy of readings of 10º- 30ºC(50º - 86ºF) isplus ( + )
orminus(-)1.5°C(3°F)oftheactualtemperature.Allother
readingsare+/-1.5%ofthereading.
Readingsatdistancesgreaterthan 60cm (2’)maybe
lessaccurateduetoexternallightsources,surroundingair
temperatureandreadingoflargersurfaceareasnotintended
tobemeasured.
Cleanersurfaceswillgivemoreaccuratereadings.
To take a temperature reading:
Pressand/orholdthetriggertoscanthesurfacetemperature
ofatargetobject.
Thebacklightandlasericonwillcomeon.
Thelaserpointerindicatesthecenterofthecircularareabeing
scannedforreferenceonly.
Thesurfacetemperatureandmaximumtemperaturereadings
aredisplayed.
Whenthetriggerisreleased,thelaserwillturnoff.TheHOLD
iconwillstayon.
Thebacklightwillturnitselfoffafteraperiodofnouse.Press-
inganybuttonwillturnthebacklightonagainwhentheLCD
isstillinuse.
To take a maximum/minimum reading:
Holdthetriggertoscanthesurfacetemperatureofatarget
object.
Movethelaserbeamfromonetargetpointtoanotherdesired
targetpointwhileholdingthetrigger.
Releasethetrigger.Themaximumtemperatureisdisplayed.
Todisplaytheminimumreading,pressthemin/maxbutton.
Ifdesired,recordtheminimum/maximumreading.
USING THE FUNCTION BUTTONS

Tostoreareadingintomemory,presstheRecordbutton
().TheLOGiconwilllightuptoshowthereadinghasbeen
loggedintomemory.Upto10readingscanberecorded.
NOTE:Ifthememoryisfull,theoldestreadingwillbedeleted
toaddthenewreading.
Torecallareadingstoredinmemory,pressthe
Playbutton
( ). Pressingthebuttonrepeatedlywillscrollthrough all
10readings.
Toclearthememory,pressandholdRecordandPlaytogether
for4seconds.
Themin/maxbuttonswitchesthedisplayfromtheminimum
readingtothemaximumreading.
To switch backand forth from Celsius to Fahrenheit, press the
ºC/Fºbutton.Recordedtemperaturescanbereadasboth
CelsiusandFahrenheit.
Upon removal, cover the battery pack’s terminals with heavyduty adhesive tape.Do not attempt to destroy or disassemble
battery packor remove any ofits components.Lithium-ion and alkaline batteries must be recycled or disposed ofproperly.
Also, never touch both terminals with metal objects and/or body parts as short circuit may result.Keep away from children.
Failure to comply with these warnings could result in fire and/or serious injury.
Techtronic Industries Australia Pty Ltd ABN 98 002 277 509 and
Techtronic Industries New Zealand Limited provide the following
warranty in relation to any Ryobi product (and any accessory supplied
with it) that has been purchased in Australia or New Zealand (Product)
when the Product is determined by Techtronic Industries Australia Pty
Ltd or Techtronic Industries New Zealand Limited to have a defect in its
material or workmanship.
The period of the warranty will be 24 months commencing from the date
of the sale of the Product by a retailer to the consumer.
1. THIS WARRANTY:
The benefits provided to the consumer in this warranty are in addition to
other rights and remedies of a consumer under the Australian Competition
and Consumer Act 2010, the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act
1993 and any other laws in relation to the Products to which this warranty
relates. This warranty:
(a) covers the Product against faulty materials or workmanship; and
(b) covers the replacement of parts, the repair labour used, a refund
of the price of the Product or other compensation for the
remainder of the warranty period.
2. CONSUMER GUARANTEE
For Products sold in Australia, this warranty is subject to the Competition
and Consumer Act 2010. For Products sold in New Zealand, this
warranty is subject to the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
The Products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the
consumer laws in Australia and New Zealand. The consumer is entitled
to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for
any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. The consumer is
also entitled to have the Products repaired or replaced if the Products
fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a
major failure.
3. THIS WARRANTY WILL NOT APPLY IF:
(a) repairs to the Product are made or attempted by a service
provider other than Techtronic Industries Australia Pty Ltd,
Techtronic Industries New Zealand Limited or an authorised
service centre;
(b) the product is subject to normal wear and tear. Parts including,
but not limited to carbon brushes, bearings, seals and o rings must
be regularly inspected so that the wear and tear on such parts do
not lead to failure of the tool. For optimum performance the tool
should be inspected regularly by an authorised service centre;
(c) the Product has not been used or maintained in accordance with
the manufacturer’s instructions as provided with the Product;
(d) the consumer uses the Product in an abnormal manner for
example if the Product is abused, misused, dropped, crushed,
impacted with any hard surface, exposed to extreme heat
(including fire) or cold, not maintained properly or used after
partial failure;
(e) damage to the Product is caused by sand, water damage, rust
corrosion, fire, vermin and/or insect infestation, power outages
or surges or inadequate or improper voltage or current;
(f) the Product has been modified, incorrectly adjusted or operated,
subjected to incorrect electrical supply or inconsistent electrical
supply or used with inappropriate accessories; or
(g) the Product is tampered with any way or if the damage has been
caused by an extraordinary event or circumstance beyond the
control of the consumer or Techtronic Industries Australia Pty
Ltd or Techtronic Industries New Zealand Limited.
(h) The Product’s serial number, as applied by the manufacturer,
has been altered or removed from the Product.
4. EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES:
To the full extent permitted by law, all warranties, conditions and other
terms express or implied by statute, custom or common law are
excluded. Nothing contained in these terms and conditions excludes or
restricts any consumer guarantee, warranty, condition, right or remedy
implied by any statute (including the Australian Competition and
Consumer Act 2010 and the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act
1993) which cannot be excluded, provided that, to the extent that the
statute permits Techtronic Industries Australia Pty Ltd and Techtronic
Industries New Zealand Limited are entitled to limit its liability as set out
in clause 5 below for a breach of a guarantee, condition or a warranty
implied by that statute.
5. UNDER THIS WARRANTY:
(a) If there is a major failure with the Product, the consumer is
entitled to:
(i) reject the Products and get an identical replacement, or one
similar in value if reasonably available; or
(ii) reject the Products and get a refund;
(iii) keep the Products and obtain compensation from Techtronic
Industries Australia Pty Ltd or Techtronic Industries New
Zealand Limited for the drop in value of the product caused
by the major failure.
(b) If there is a minor failure with the Product, the consumer is
entitled , at the election of Techtronic Industries Australia Pty
Ltd, Techtronic Industries New Zealand Limited, to a refund of
the cost of the Product;
(i) a replacement of the Product; or
(ii) have the Product repaired within a reasonable time; or
(iii) a refund of the cost of the Product
(c) The Products covered by this warranty will be repaired, during
normal business hours at the premises of Techtronic Industries
Australia Pty Ltd, Techtronic Industries New Zealand Limited or
an authorised service centre without cost to the consumer for
parts and repair labour.
(d) The consumer is responsible for freight costs and insurance
costs if the Product has to be returned for repair / inspection to
Techtronic Industries Australia Pty Ltd, Techtronic Industries
New Zealand Limited or the authorised service centre unless the
cost of returning, removing or transporting the Product is
significant.
6. TO CLAIM THIS WARRANTY:
(a) The consumer must present the sales docket receipt and
product to point of sale or Techtronic Industries Australia Pty
Ltd, Techtronic Industries New Zealand Limited or an authorised
service centre.
(b) For Service in Australia the consumer should refer to the Ryobi
web site or contact the Australian Customer Support line on
1300 361 505 to obtain the nearest authorised service centre.
(c) For Service in New Zealand the consumer should contact the
New Zealand Hotline Application on 0800 279 624 to obtain the
nearest authorised service centre.
Techtronic Industries Australia Pty Ltd and Techtronic Industries New
Zealand Limited will honour all warranty claims that are submitted by a
consumer in accordance with these terms and conditions.
