IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always
be followed including the following:
1. Read all instructions.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. To protect against electrical hazards, do not immerse cord, plugs, or
the appliance in water or other liquid.
4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near
children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the appliance.
5. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children)
with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety.
6. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to
cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the
appliance.
7. DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after
the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner.
Return appliance to the manufacturer for examination, repair or
electrical or mechanical adjustment. All servicing, other than
cleaning, should be performed by an authorized service
representative. See Warranty section.
8. The use of accessories or attachments not recommended by Salton
mayresultinre,electricshockorpersonalinjury.
9. Do not use outdoors.
10.Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot
surfaces.
11.Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated
oven.
12.Alwaysattachplugtoappliancerst,thenplugcordintothewall
outlet.Todisconnect,turnanycontrolto‘OFF’,thenremove
plug from wall outlet.
13.OnlyusetheKettlewiththebaseprovided.
14.Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
15.Do not leave unit unattended while in use.
16.Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing
hot liquids.
17.DonotusetheKettlewithouttheLidinplace.WARNING:Donot
removethelidwhiletheKettleisboiling.

into the kettle.

GROUNDED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electric shock this appliance has a grounded plug
(2bladesand1pin).Iftheplugdoesnottfullyintotheelectricaloutlet
contactaqualiedelectrician.Donotmodifythepluginanywayoruse
an adaptor.
BEFORE FIRST USE
1. Read all instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
2. Remove all packaging.
3. GentlywashtheTeaInfuserAssemblyinwarmsoapywaterandallow
to dry.
4. FilltheKettlewith1L(4cups)ofcoldtapwaterandbringtoaboil.
5. Add500mL(2cups)ofwhitevinegarandletstandforatleast1hour
or overnight. Discard.
6. Fillthekettletothemaximumlllinewithcoldtapwater.Bringtoa
boil and discard. Repeat.
7. The kettle is ready to use.
HOW TO USE
1. OpentheLidbyliftingitstraightup.FilltheKettlethroughthelid
openingwithaminimumof500mL(2cups)ofwater.
2. DO NOTattempttolltheKettlewhileitispluggedintothewalloutlet.
DO NOTuseforotherthanboilingwater.Otherliquidswill
contaminate the interior of the kettle.
DO NOTllpasttheMAXlevelprintedontheglass.Overllingmay
cause water to spit out when boiling.
3. PlacetheLidbackontheKettle.
4. PlaceKettleandBaseonaat,level,dry,heatresistantsurface.
EnsurethatitiscorrectlyengagedontheBase.Thekettlewillbeep
twice and the power indicator light will illuminate green.

5. Plug into a 120V AC wall outlet. The display will show the actual water
temperature.TheKettleisnowinstandbymode.
NOTE:Ifnoselectionhasbeenmadein5minutes,thedisplaywill
shutoffandtheKettlewillenterSleepMode.Pressanybuttononce
to“Wakeup”theKettle.
NOTE:Neverplugkettleintoanelectricaloutletwhenthekettleis
empty.
6. Direct kettle spout away from cabinets, walls, etc. to prevent possible
steam damage.
7. Thedefaulttemperatureis100°C(212°F).Thevariabletemperature
rangeis40to100°C(105-212°F)in10degreeCelsiusincrements.
8. To boil water:
- Press the power button once.The kettle will beep.
-Thedisplaywillshow100°C(212°F).Thepowerindicatorlighton
the knob will illuminate red to indicate the kettle is actively heating.
The display temperature will increase until the kettle reaches 100°C
(212°F).
-OncethewaterhasboiledtheKettlewillshutoffandthekettlewill
beep two times.
- The display will show will show the decreasing water temperature as
it cools.
9. To use the variable temperature settings:
- Press the power button once and the display will show 100°C.
- Turn the knob clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the variable
temperaturebetween40-100°C(104-212°F).Thetemperature
willashtwicebeforeswitchingbacktotheactualtemperatureofthe
water. Press the power button once to start the kettle. The display
willashagainthedesiredtemperaturesettingbeforeswitchingback
to the actual temperature of the water. The power indictor light on the
knob will illuminate red to indicate the kettle is actively heating.
NOTE: The temperature of the water shown on the display will
increase or decrease as the water is being heated or cooling. This is
normal.
- The display will show the chosen temperature for 3 seconds then
will shut switch to the actual water temperature. The display
temperature will increase until it reaches the chosen temperature.
-OncethewaterhasreachedthesettemperaturetheKettle
will shut off and beep two times, the display will show the deceasing
water temperature as it cools.
10.IMPORTANT:
a) The kettle shuts off automatically after the boiling cycle is complete.
b)Ifthekettleisremovedfromthebasebeforetheboilingcycleis
complete the boiling cycle will be cancelled.
c) To turn the kettle off before the boiling cycle is complete press the
PowerButton.

11.TheLidshouldnotbeopenedwhentheKettleishot.
12.OnlygriptheKettlebytheHandleasallothersurfaceswillbehot.
13.ReturntheKettletotheBaseoraheatresistantsurfaceafteruse.
14.IMPORTANT:IftheKettleisaccidentlyswitchedonwhenempty,the
thermostatwillautomaticallycycleonandofftopreventtheKettle
fromoverheating.IfthissituationoccursunplugtheKettle
immediatelyandallowtheKettletocoolbeforerelling.
15.ItisrecommendedthatthePowerCordbedisconnectedfromthewall
outlet when not in use.
16.DO NOTattempttoconnectanyotherappliancetothePowerBase
or tamper with the connector in any way.
KEEP WARM FUNCTION
1.HoldthePowerButtonfor2secondsandthekeepwarmsymbol
will appear on the display. Then turn the knob until you reach one of
the7desired‘keepwarm’temperaturesettingsbetween40-90°C
(104–194°F).Thepowerindicatorlightontheknobwillilluminateredto
indicate the kettle is actively heating.
NOTE: TheKeepWarmfunctionwillkeepwateratthepreset
temperature for 2 hours. The kettle cannot be removed from the base or
the keep warm function will be cancelled and the display will show the
current water temperature in the kettle.
2.TheKeepWarmFunctioncanbedeactivatedatanytimebypressing
thePowerButtononce.
WATER TEMPERATURE GUIDE
The following is a general guide for brewing different types of tea.
Brandandfreshnessofteaincludingeachindividualstasteand
preference differs.
Ifyourteabox/containerhasbrewinginstructions,followthoseasthey
areprobablyidealforthatspecictea.

CARE AND CLEANING
1. All servicing, other than cleaning, should be performed by an
authorized service representative. See Warranty section.
2. UnplugKettlefromwalloutlet.EmptytheKettleandallowittocool
before cleaning.
Exterior
- Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior.
- DO NOT use abrasive cleaners. Dry exterior thoroughly before use.
- DO NOT immerse kettle or power base in water or other liquid.
3. Descaling
Under normal use, scale build-up will form on the inside of the kettle
and will coat the stainless steel plate. Scale, which has accumulated
inside the kettle must be removed by boiling equal parts of white
vinegarandwater(500ml/2cupsofeachisrecommended).Once
the water has boiled, allow the mixture to stand several hours or
overnight.EmptyoutmixtureandllkettletotheMAXlevelwith
freshwater.Bringwatertoaboilanddiscard.Forheavyscale
build-up, use pure vinegar and let stand overnight. Empty out vinegar
andllkettletotheMAXlevelwithfreshwater.Bringwatertoaboil
and discard.
This descaling process should be repeated periodically.
NOTE: Scale build-up can be delayed by pouring out water after use
thenrellingthekettlewhenrequired.

A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming
entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used
if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked
electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord
should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. If
the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a
grounded 3-wire cord. The extension cord should be arranged so that
it will not drape over the counter top or table top, where it can be pulled
on by children or tripped over.
This warranty does not include the cost of shipping, which is to be borne by the
customer.
LIMITED WARRANTY
**The original sales receipt is the only acceptable proof of purchase**
Salton Appliances (1985) Corp. warrants that this appliance shall be free from
defects in material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the date
of original purchase. Salton Appliances (1985) Corp. at its sole discretion during
this warranty period, will repair or replace a defective product or issue a refund.
Any refund to the purchaser will be at a pro-rated value based on the remaining
period of the warranty. All liability is limited to the amount of the purchase price.
This warranty covers normal domestic usage and does not cover damage which
occurs in shipment or failure which results from alteration, accident, misuse,
abuse, glass breakage, neglect, improper maintenance, use contrary to the
operating instructions or commercial use. This warranty is not available to
retailers or other commercial purchasers or owners.
