incorrect use, or for repairs carried out by unauthorised personnel.
32. In case of technical problems, switch off the appliance and do not attempt to repair it yourself.
Return the appliance to an authorised service facility for examination, adjustment or repair. Always
insist on the use of original spare parts. Failure to comply with the above mentioned pre-cautions and
instructions, could affect the safe operation of this appliance.
33. Take care when pouring –pour slowly, and don’t over-tilt the kettle.
34. Wind excess cable beneath the base.
35. Check that the lid is fully closed before switching the kettle on - otherwise it may not switch off.
36. Check if the kettle is properly located on the base before switching on.
37. Do not switch on unless the kettle contains at least 2 cups of water.
38. Remove the kettle from its base before filling or pouring.
39. This appliance must not be operated by an external timer or remote control system.
40. Do not put the kettle or its base on a wet place/surface or in water –do not operate it with wet
hands.
41. Don’t boil any tea directly in this water kettle.
BEFORE FIRST USE
Carefully remove your kettle from the box. You may wish to retain the packaging for further use.
Before first use, fill the kettle with cold water to the MAX water level mark, bring to boil and discard the
boiling water –do this twice. This will ensure that any residues left over from the manufacturing process
are completely removed.
How to use your kettle:
•Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position.
•Fill the kettle with water to your desired level. Make sure not to fill above the MAX level mark as
water may eject while it boils.
•Still in the OFF position, connect the power supply cord to a power outlet of the same voltage
and frequency as outlined on the rating label.
•Switch the kettle ON –the power indicator light will light up.
•The blue lamp lights up to indicate that the kettle is on. When the water has boiled, the kettle will
switch off automatically and the blue lamp will shut off.
Caution: Ensure that the kettle is switched off before taking it off the power base.
•After the water has come to a boil, wait a moment until the water has stopped simmering.

4
•Remove the kettle from the water base.
•Pour the water out slowly to avoid splashing. Do not open the lid while pouring out the water.
Please beware of escaping steam from the lid of the kettle when in use.
•You may interrupt/cancel boiling at any time by simply switching OFF.
•Important: Always switch the power outlet off before disconnecting the plug.
•Do not use hot water to fill the kettle as this will quickly damage the interior and heating
element. Use only cold water.
BOIL DRY HEATING PROTECTION
If you have forgotten to add water or the water inside is below the minimum accepted level, the metal
sheet for dry heating protection of the temperature controller will disconnect automatically when the
kettle is switched on in order to protect the kettle from being damaged by dry heating.
If the above situation happens, please turn off the power supply, unplug the kettle and wait 10 minutes
for it to cool down. Once this is done, the temperature controller connects and the kettle will operate
normally again.
Note: Do not add cold water in the kettle in an attempt to cool it down quicker –this will
decrease the life span of the kettle’s heating plate.
GENERAL
•Always remove the kettle from the base before pouring.
•To avoid the risk of splashing, pour slowly and do not over-tilt the kettle.
•Do not tilt the kettle backwards - water might get on to the control area. If this happens, let the
kettle dry thoroughly before use –place it somewhere warm for 12 hours.
•When you lift the kettle, you may see moisture on the base. Do not worry –it’s the steam used to
switch the kettle off automatically, which then condenses and escapes via vents under the kettle.
•You may see some discolouration on the floor of the kettle. Again, do not worry –it is due to the
bonding of the element to the kettle floor.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
•This appliance is for household use only and is not user-serviceable.
•Do not open or change any parts by yourself. Please refer to a qualified electrical service
department or return to the supplier if servicing is necessary.
•Always remember to unplug the unit from the electrical outlet when not in use and before
cleaning. Ensure that the control is set to “0” or “Off”.
•It is much easier to clean the accessories directly after they have been used. Wipe them with a
warm cloth and dry well.

5
•The body of the appliance and the stand should be cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not let water
enter the electrical parts of the appliance or the stand.
•Do not use bleach or other abrasive substance or solvents to clean your appliance as it can be
damaging to the finish.
•To remove stubborn spots/marks, wipe the surfaces with a cloth slightly dampened in soapy
water or mild non-abrasive cleaner. Dry with a clean, soft cloth.
Descaling
The kettle should be cleaned regularly to remove scale. Particular attention should also be paid to
the following:
•Only boil as much water as you need. This reduces scale formation and coffee and tea will
taste better with fresh water.
•Brushing the heating element with a normal washing-up brush once a week for example will
slow the formation of scale on the heating element.
•In the event of visible signs of scale formation or at least once a month, the kettle should be
descaled. One indication that the kettle should be descaled is that the heating time becomes
longer or the kettle switches off too soon.
•Hard scale on the heating element should be removed with a solution of citric acid crystals. It
is very important that the user instructions for the citric acid crystals are followed carefully,
that the agent is poured out of the kettle after the specified period of time and that the water
from the first couple of uses after descaling are discarded.
•Never switch off the kettle by pulling the plug out of the socket and never touch the switch
with wet hands.
•If after descaling a lot of scale remains on the heating element, the kettle should be
descaled again. Descaling should then be carried out more frequently in future.
•The kettle cannot be washed in a dishwasher.
•Do not use sharp objects when descaling/cleaning the heating element on the bottom of the
kettle.
Failure to remove the scale regularly could damage the kettle beyond repair. Damage caused in
this way is not covered by the guarantee.
Water filter:
•Scale particles suspended in the water may give it a cloudy or greasy appearance.
•The filter will prevent these particles going into your drink. If you see deposits on the filter, clean it,
otherwise the performance of your kettle will drop, your drinks may contain scale, and the water inside
the kettle may look cloudy.

6
Cleaning the filter:
•The filter is located inside the kettle behind the spout.
•With the lid open, gently pull the filter out of its retaining slot.
•Lift the filter out of the kettle.
•Rinse the filter in warm water and gently remove any scale with a soft brush.
•To replace the filter, slide it down into its slot until it clicks into place.
STORING THE APPLIANCE
•Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and clean all the parts as instructed above. Ensure that all
parts are dry before storing.
•Store the appliance in its box or in a clean, dry place.
•Never store the appliance while it is still wet or dirty.
•Never wrap the power cord around the appliance.
