INSTALLATION-OPERATION
DESCRIPTION
Compressed air operated piston-type reciprocating pump. This high capacity demand pump for ink is suitable for large installations with long
lengths of piping supplying several outlets simultaneously. This pump is mounted directly or double post ram or pump stand.
• The non compatible fluids may cause damage in the pump and
serious personal injury. This equipment is not intended for use with
fluids that fall within the Group 1 fluid as defined that are explosive,
extremely flammable, highly flammable, flammable, very toxic, toxic,
oxidizing or where the vapor pressure if greater than 0.5 bar above
the pressure atmospheric at the maximum allowable temperature.
• The pump generates high or very high pressures. Do not exceed the
maximum air inlet pressure of 7 bar.
• A direct hit against the human body may result in an injury.
• All air must be bleed from the pump and pipe work system before it
is used, especially before the pump is allowed to stall under-pressure.
If the container supplying the pump is changed, the bleed valve on
the outlet of the pump should be opened to remove the air pocket
caused by the change. Air trapped in the system will cause spiting of
material as it leaves the system. In additional to the danger from
flying material, the sudden released of the pressure can cause, hoses,
valves, fixtures etc. to move violently and unexpectedly.
• This unit may have stored pressure, released all pressure and
disconnect from any fluid systems before servicing. To ensure safe
operation of this unit, all service work should be by qualified
personnel only.
• When not in use, be sure to shut off the air supply to avoid accidents.
• Do not alter or modify this equipment. Use genuine components
provided from Samoa Industrial, S. A. Any unauthorized tampering
with this equipment, improper use, poor maintenance or removal of
identifications labels may invalidate the guarantee.
• All fittings in the system connected to the outlet of the pump should
be suitable for the maximum possible pressure generated by the
pump/air motor. If the systems cannot be designed to take the
maximum pressure produced by the pump, safety valves or diverter
valves should be fitted.
• All pumps are tested with grease and may have large quantities of
this grease remaining in the pump.

TYPICAL INSTALLATION
Figure 2 is a typical installation shown with all the recommended
accessories for the pump to operate correctly.
NOTE: The compressed air supply must be set between 3 and 7 bar (43
– 100 psi), being 6 bar (87 psi) the recommended pressure. An air
closing valve must be installed, in order to be able to close the
compressed air line at the end of the day (If the air inlet not is closed
and there is a leakage in some point of the ink outlet circuit, the pump
will start automatically, emptying the container or dry-running).

OPERATION
1. Open the bleed air valve (86). The pump can now expel any air
trapped in (fig. 2).
2. Start the pump opening the pumps valve (pos. A), and increasing
the pressure with the regulating filter gradually (pos. B). The
pump starts operating.
3. Close the pump air bleed valve (86) as soon as the material
trapped air is pumped out of the valve.
4. The pump starts to pump when an outlet valve is opened (pos. H),
for example a ink fountaing.
TROUBLESHOOTING
SYMPTOMS POSSIBLE REASONS SOLUTIONS
The pump is not working or there is
no ink delivery.
No suitable air supply pressure. Increase the air supply pressure.
Some outlet circuit element is clogged or closed. Clean or open the outlet circuit.
There is an air pocket in the ink inlet area. Bleed the air in follower plate.

There is a ink leakage at some point in the circuit. Verify and tighten or repair.
Contamination in the piston valve (92). Disassemble and clean. Replace if damaged (92).
Contamination in the foot valve (110). Disassemble and clean. Replace if damaged (110).
Air leabreage through the air outlet
muffler (25).
Damage or worm piston U-ring (40). Replace U-ring (40).
The air seal of the inventor assembly is damaged
and worm (8). Replace the air seal (8).
Damage or worm spool seals. Replace the spool.
Ink flow out put too low or diminishes
over time.
Contamination in the foot valve (110). Remove and clean (110).
Replace if damaged.
Contamination in the piston valve (98). Remove and clean.
Replace if damaged (98).
The exhaust muffler is clogged log compressed air
dirt or lubricant. Clean or replace the muffler left (28).
REPAIR AND CLEANING PROCEDURE
SEPARATE THE AIR MOTOR FROM THE PUMP
Operate the pump controlling it with the ball valve on the air motor supply (pos. A).
1. With the pump bleed valve open (86), it should be possible to stop the pump in the middle of the stroke. Close the bleed valve (86).
2. Disconnect the air motor supply (pos. D).
3. Remove the guards (62).
4. Remove the bolt (63).
5. Unscrew nut (64).
6. Remove nut (78) and lift the pump air motor to separate from pump.

REPAIR AND CLEANING PROCEDURE
AIR DISTRIBUTOR
1. Unscrew the bolts (23) and remove the cap (22).
2. Unscrew the bolts (23) and take away the cap (22). Take away the
o-ring (16).
3. Strike gently with a plastic tool through exhaust seat to remove the
spool valve (18).
4. Replace the seals (17) and (19) with new ones or replace the whole
spool (18) with its seals factory installed (kit 539006). This is
strongly recommended in order to ensure the correct assembly of
the seals.
LIFTING THE PUMP
ATTENTION: This pump is extremely heavy. A lifter is neccesary in repair or installation procedures.
1. Fit the eye bolts (33) included and review all fitting before lift the pump.

1.The muffler has a transparent cup in the bottom. Just detach it by
releasing its clipped strips and empty the content and clean it.
2.Should the performance of the pump seem to be poor after cleaning,
it´s also possible to replace the muffler (27) by a new one. Just
unscrew to remove and screw to install. Part number (951435).

AIR MOTOR SEALS
1. Unscrew the bolts (1) and remove the cap (3).
2. Unscrew the sensor sleeve (4).
3. With a manual clamp on the nut (5), pull the rod (37) outwards
until its central recess appears (fig. 8a). Then, with another manual
clamp, grab the rod (37) on said recess to prevent sealing surface
to be damaged, and unscrew the nut (5) (fig. 8b).
4. Remove o-ring (6) and ring (7), and replace them with new ones later.
5. Unscrew the bolts (56). Pull the motor body (13) outwards to free
it along with bridle (34).
6. Take away the gasket (9) and replace its seals (8) and (10).
7. Unscrew the bolts (35) and split the motor (13) from the flange
(34). Take away the washer (29) and replace the seal (8).
8. Take away the cylinder (48) while carefully holding the air piston (41).
9. Remove the pin (65) from male coupling (66). Unscrew bolt (63),
connection nut (64) and male coupling (66). Remove piston
assembly (41).
10. Open circlip (57) and remove piston rod learning (52).
11. Replace the U-ring (51). (Lip facing up).
12. Replace up piston U-seal (40). (Lip fancing up).
Remove down piston U-seal (40). Pull in the piston starting with
gap through cilinder until you see seal the gap again and fit. U-seal
(40) (lip facing down).
13. Reassemble in reverse order, applying thread locker (Loctite 243)
in screws (35), (56), nut (5) and sensor sleeve (4).
NOTE: all these seals are included in the available kit (754956).

CLEAN OR REPLACE THE FOOT VALVE
ATTENTION: on this procedure is necessary lift the pump.
1. Fasten the priming rod in lower part (115) and unscrew the nyloc nut (117). Remove the priming valve (116).
2. Unscrew the bolts (102) and remove the pump from inlet body (105).
3. Remove the inlet body (105) and valve guide (107).
4. Remove the disc valve (110). Examine the valve (110), the U-seat in foot valve (114) and priming rod (115) for any damage. Replace if it’s necessary.
5. Replace the O-rings (108), back-up rings (109). Fit a new O-ring (71, 83) and compressible spacer (104).
6. Assembly the foot valve following this section, reversing each step. Apply Loctite 243 on thread (102).
It is also available a whole foot valve kit (754955) with all components in disk valve assembled.
CLEAN OR REPLACE THE PACKING NUT
1. Using the air motor, stop the pump in the lower down stroke. Release the pump pressure.
2. Remove the bolt (63) and unscrew the nut (64).
3. Using air motor, raire gently the air motor rod (47) until upper upstroke. Close the air.
4. Remove the coupling (67), the bolts (68) and gland top plate (70).
5. Fit two M5 bolts in the bearing (72) and pull out. The u-seal (73) should be stayed with the packing nut, if it stayed in the pump, slide it up
the packing rod (91) gently until is free.
6. Examine the packing nut (72) and the rod (91) for wear and or damage as if they are defective any new packing rod seal will fail. If the nut
is faulty this will replaced now, but if the rod is faulty the pump will have to be completely dismantled (please, follow the section clean and
replace piston valve).
7. Fit a new o-seal (71). Replace the packing rod seal (73) to the packing nut (72), lightly greasing the seals to aid assembly.
8. Push the nut (72) and seal over the packing rod (91) until the U-seal stop (74). Apply Loctite 243 on thread (67, 68). Assemble the pump
following this section, reversing each step.

CLEAN OR REPLACE THE PISTON VALVE
ATTENTION: to clean or replace the piston valve (92) it is necessaty lift the pump.
1. Fasten the primming rod in lower part (115) and unscrew the nyloc nut (117). Remove the primming valve (116).
2. Unscrew the bolts (102) and remove the pump from inlet body (105).
3. Unscrew the bolts (90) and remove cylinder assembly (100).
4. Unscrew two grub screw (97) and remove the piston (98).
5. Remove the piston guide (99), circlip (94), the ring (95) and the U-seal (96).
Replace the U-seal (96).
It is recommend that after though cleaning and examination of the components, any that show signs of wear or damage are replaced prior
to re-assembly.
In addition to any damaged the seals (71), (83) and compressible spacer (104) should be replaced.
6. Assemble the pump following all steps, reversing each. Apply Loctite 243 on threads (100, 102).

ADVERTENCIA Y PRECAUCIONES
DESCRIPCIÓN
Bomba de pistón alternativo accionada por aire comprimido. Permite bombear grandes caudales de tinta. Aplicable en instalaciones con
conducciones de gran longitud para dar servicio simultáneamente a varias tinteros. La bomba se puede montar directamente sobre el inductor
doble-poste o pie de bomba.
• Los fluidos no adecuados para la bomba pueden causar daños a la
unidad de la bomba e implicar riesgos de graves daños personales.
Este equipo no está destinado para el uso de fluidos que se encuentran
en el apartado 1 de la Directiva de Equipos a Presión. Estos son fluidos
explosivos, extremadamente inflamables, altamente inflamables,
inflamables, muy tóxicos, tóxicos, u oxidantes. O aquellos fluidos cuya
presión de vapor sea superior a 0.5 bar sobre la presión atmosférica a
la máxima temperatura permitida.
• La bomba puede producir presiones elevadas o muy elevadas. No
exceder la presión máxima permitida de alimentación de aire de 7 bar.
• Las altas presiones pueden ocasionar lesiones muy graves en el cuerpo
humano.
• Extraiga todo el aire de la bomba y del sistema de tuberías antes de
poner en funcionamiento el sistema, especialmente antes de
permitir que la bomba se pare bajo presión. Si el contenedor de
suministro de la bomba es sustituido, abra la válvula de purgado en
la salida de fluido para eliminar el aire que se haya introducido en el
recambio de esta. El aire atrapado en el sistema provoca que el
material sea lanzado cuando deja el sistema. Además del peligro que
genera este material lanzado, los cambios bruscos de presión
pueden provocar que las mangueras, válvulas y otros accesorios se
muevan violenta e inesperadamente.
• Este equipo puede contener presión almacenada, elimine la presión y
desconecte la bomba del sistema de entrada y salida de fluidos en
caso de realizar cualquier mantenimiento. Para asegurar el correcto
funcionamiento de esta unidad, cualquier operación de mantenimiento
solo será llevada a cabo por personal cualificado.
• Para prevenir accidentes, cuando el equipo no esté en uso asegúrese
la desconexión de este a la línea de alimentación de aire.
• No altere la integridad del equipo. Use componentes originales de
Samoa Industrial, S. A. Cualquier modificación no autorizada del
equipo, uso indebido, mantenimiento incorrecto o la retirada de las
etiquetas identificativas puede ser causa de anulación de la garantía.
• Todos los accesorios que se encuentren en la línea de salida de fluido
deben de ser aptos para la máxima presión generada por la bomba.
Si el sistema no está diseñado para soportar la máxima presión ejercida
por la bomba, instale válvulas de seguridad o válvulas de derivación.
• Todas las bombas se prueban con grasa y pueden contener restos en
su interior.
ADVERTENCIA: Lea atentamente el manual de instrucciones y sus advertencias antes de empezar a operar con el equipo. Este equipo es
únicamente para uso profesional.

CONEXIÓN TIPO DE LA BOMBA
A título informativo, se muestra en la figura 2 una instalación típica con
todos los elementos recomendados para su correcto funcionamiento.
NOTA: La presión de alimentación de aire debe estar comprendida
entre 3 y 7 bar (43 – 100 psi) siendo 6 bar (87 psi) la presión
recomendada. Es aconsejable instalar, asimismo, una válvula de cierre
para poder cerrar la alimentación de aire al final de la jornada. (En caso
de roturas o fugas en la salida de tinta, si la alimentación de aire no está
cerrada, la bomba se pondría en marcha automáticamente, pudiendo
vaciarse completamente el depósito o funcionar en seco).

MODO DE EMPLEO
1. Abra la válvula de purgado de la bomba (86), para eliminar el aire
que se encuentre dentro de ella (fig. 2).
2. Arranque la bomba con la válvula de suministro de aire (pos. A),
incremente progresivamente la velocidad de la bomba con el filtro
regulador (pos. B).
3. Cierre la válvula de purga (86), en el momento que no salga aire
atrapado con fluido a través de esta.
4. La bomba ya está lista para operar. La bomba empieza a bombear
cuando se abre una válvula de salida (pos. H), por ejemplo un
tintero.
ANOMALÍAS Y SUS SOLUCIONES
SÍNTOMAS POSIBLES CAUSAS SOLUCIONES
La bomba no funciona o no hay
entrega de tinta.
Presión de suministro de aire no adecuada. Incremente la presión del aire de suministro.
Algún elemento del circuito de salida está
obstruido o cerrado. Limpie o abra el circuito de salida.
Se han creado bolsas de aire alrededor de la zona
de succión de la bomba. Purgue el plato seguidor.
Se ha formado una cavidad de aire en la bomba. Purgue la bomba (86).
La bomba empieza a funcionar
mucho más aprisa. La bomba está funcionando en seco, depósito vacío. Llene el depósito.
La bomba sigue funcionando aunque
se cierre la salida de tinta.
Existe fuga de tinta en algún punto del circuito. Verifique y apriete o repare.
Válvula de impulsión (92) no cierra por impurezas. Desmonte y limpie (92).
Válvula de entrada (110) no cierra por impurezas o
por deterioro. Desmonte y limpie. Sustituya en caso de deterioro (110).
Perdida de aire por el escape de aire.
Junta del émbolo de aire desgastada (40). Sustituya la junta (40).
Junta del pistón sensor desgastada (8). Sustituya la junta (8).
Juntas de la corredera inversora desgastadas. Sustituya la corredera.
Disminución del caudal entregado.
Válvula inferior con impurezas (110). Desmonte y limpie.
Sustituya en caso de deterioro (110).
Pistón con impurezas (98). Desmonte y limpie.
Sustituya en caso de deterioro (98).
El silenciador está colmatado por impurezas o
lubricante del aire comprimido. Limpie o sustituya silenciador (28).
PROCEDIMIENTOS DE REPARACIÓN Y LIMPIEZA
CÓMO SEPARAR EL MOTOR DE AIRE DE LA BOMBA
Maneje el control de la bomba con la válvula de bola de suministro de aire al motor (pos. A).
1. Con la válvula de purga abierta (86) situar la bomba en la posición media de la carrera. Cierre la válvula de purga (86).
2. Desconecte el motor de la línea de suministro de aire (pos. D).
3. Retire las pantallas protectoras (62).
4. Extraiga el tornillo (63).
5. Desenrosque la tuerca (64).
6. Retire las tuercas (78) y eleve el motor hasta separarlo de la bomba.

PROCEDIMIENTOS DE REPARACIÓN Y LIMPIEZA
DISTRIBUIDOR DE AIRE
1. Desenrosque los tornillos (23) y retire la tapa del tope de corredera
(22).
2. Desenrosque los tornillos (23) y separe la tapa (24). Extraiga la
tórica (16).
3. Con ayuda de un útil de plástico, golpeando suavemente por el
lado del silenciador, extraiga la corredera del distribuidor (18).
4. Sustituya las juntas de corredera (17) y (19), o bien sustituya la
corredera (18) completa con sus juntas ya instaladas de fábrica (kit
539006). Ésta es la opción recomendada para asegurar que las
juntas están correctamente instaladas.
IZADO DE LA BOMBA
ATENCIÓN: este equipo es extremadamente pesado. Es necesario algún elemento de izado para
realizar operaciones de instralación o mantenimiento.
1. Rosque los cancamos (33) que se incluyen en la dotación y revise todos los elementos antes
de realizar ninguna maniobra de izado.

1. El silenciador tiene una copa de plástico transparente en la parte
inferior. Basta con desmontarla (tiene patillas de clipaje) para
vaciarla y limpiarla.
2. Si el rendimiento de la bomba sigue siendo bajo tras la limpieza,
puede sustituir el silenciador (27) por uno nuevo. Desenrosque el
usado y rosque el nuevo (951435).
