• Formaximum safety, installers should always carefully
read the following warnings.
• Store the operation and installation manual in a safe
location and rememberto hand it overtothe new
ownerif the airconditioneris sold ortransferred.
• The manufacturershall not be responsible for
damage originating from unauthorized changes or
the improperconnection of electricity and/orthe
requirements set forth in the "Operating limits" table,
included in the Technical Data Book. Doing so shall
immediatelyvoid the product warranty.
• Do not use the units if damaged. If problems occur,
switchthe unit off and disconnect it from the power
supply.
• In orderto prevent electric shocks, fires orinjuries, always
stop the unit, disablethe protection switch and contact
SAMSUNG’s technical support if the unit produces smoke, if
the powercable is hot ordamaged orif the unit isvery noisy.
• Always rememberto inspect the unit, electric connections,
refrigerant pipe and protections regularly. These operations
should be performed byqualified personnel only.
• The unit contains moving parts,which should always be
kept out of the reach of children.

performed byunauthorized personnel, these operations may
cause electric shocks orfires.
• Do not place containerswith liquids orotherobjects on the
unit.
• All the materials usedforthe manufacture and packaging of
the airconditionerare recyclable.
• The packing material must be disposed of in accordance
with current laws.
• The airconditionercontains a refrigerant that hasto be
disposed of as specialwaste. Atthe end of its life cycle, the
airconditionermust be disposed of in authorized centers
orreturned to the retailerso that it can be disposed of
correctlyand safely.
• Wearprotective equipment (such as safetygloves, goggles,
and headgear) during installation and maintenanceworks.
Installation/repairtechnicians maybe injured if protective

WARNING
IMPORTANT:When installingthe unit,alwaysrememberto
connectfirsttherefrigerantpipes,thentheelectricallines.
• Connecting one indoorunit to this product is prohibited.
• Upon receipt, inspectthe product toverifythat it has not
been damaged during transport. If the product appears
damaged, DO NOTINSTALL it and immediatelyreport
the damage tothe carrierorretailer(if the installerorthe
authorized technician has collected the material from the
retailer.)
• Aftercompleting the installation, always carryout a
functional test and providethe instructions on howto
operatethe airconditionerto the user.
• Do not use the airconditionerin environmentswith
hazardous substances orclose to equipment that release
freeflames to avoid the occurrence offires, explosions or
injuries.
• Ourunits should be installed in compliancewith the spaces
shown in the installation manual,to ensure accessibility
from both sides and allowrepairs ormaintenance
operations to be carried out. The unit’s components should
be accessible and easyto disassemblewithout endangering
people and objects.
• Forthis reason,when provisions of the installation manual
are not compliedwith, the cost required to access and repair
the units (in SAFETY CONDITIONS, as set out in prevailing
regulations)with harnesses, ladders, scaffolding orany
otherelevation systemwill NOTbe considered part of the
warrantyandwill be chargedto the end customer.
• Ensurethat the condensatewaterdrains properly
fromthe unit to allowthe base pan heaterto properly
prevent frost build up at lowambient temperatures.
If the installation does not allowthe condensate to
properlydrain, ice buildup can damagethe unit and
stop the system operation.
• Do not disassemble oralterthe base pan heater.

• Alwaysverifythat a suitable grounding connection is
available.
• Verifythat the voltage and frequencyof the power
supplycomplywith the specifications and that the
installed poweris sufficient to ensure the operation of
anyotherdomestic appliance connected tothe same
electric lines.
• Alwaysverifythat the cut-off and protection switches
are suitablydimensioned.
• Verifythat the air conditioneris connected to the
powersupply in accordancewith the instructions
provided in thewiring diagram included in the manual.
• Alwaysverifythat electric connections (cable entry,
section of leads, protections…) are compliant with
the electric specifications andwith the instructions
provided in thewiring scheme. Alwaysverify that all
connections complywith the standards applicable to
the installation of airconditioners.
• Devices disconnected from the powersupplyshould
be completelydisconnected in the condition of
overvoltage category.
• Be sure notto perform powercable modification,
extensionwiring, and multiplewire connection.
– It maycause electric shock orfire due to poor
connection, poorinsulation, orcurrent limit
override.

Step1 Choosingtheinstallation
location
Installationlocationrequirements
• Do not place the outdoorunit on its side orupside
down. Failing to do so maycause the compressor
lubrication oil to run into the cooling circuit and lead
to serious damage to the unit.
• Install the unit in a well-ventilated location away from
strongwinds.
• Install the unit in a location thatwould not obstruct
anypassageways orthoroughfares.
• Install the unit in a location thatwould not
inconvenience ordisturbyourneighbors, as theycould
be affected bythe noise orthe airflowcoming from
the unit.
• Install the unit in a locationwhere the pipes and the
cables can be easilyconnected to the indoorunit.
• Install the unit on a flat, stable surfacethat can
withstand theweight of the unit. Otherwise, the unit
can generate noise andvibration during operation.
• Install the unit so thatthe airflowhas adequate
clearance, as noted inthe manual.
CAUTION
• This device must be installed according tothe national
electrical rules.
• Ifyouroutdoorunit exceeds a netweight of132.2 lb(60
kg), do not install it on a suspendedwall, but stand it
on a floor.
• The reliability of ourproduct cannot be guaranteed

• When installing the outdoorunit at the seaside, make
surethat it is not directlyexposed to sea breeze. If
you cannotfind an adequate place free from direct
sea breeze, construct a protectionwall ora protective
fence.
– Install the outdoorunit in a place (such as near
buildings etc.)where it can be prevented from sea
breeze. Failure to do so maycause a damage to the
outdoorunit.

• Construct a protectionwallwith a solid material such
as concrete to block the sea breeze. Make sure thatthe
height and thewidth of the wall are1.5 times larger
than the size ofthe outdoorunit.Also, secure a space
largerthan 27.6 inch(700mm) betweenthe protection
wall and the outdoorunit forexhausted airto ventilate.

• Install the unit in a placewherewatercan drain
smoothly.
• Ifyou have anydifficultyfinding installation location
as prescribed above, contactyourmanufacturerfor
details.
• Considerthat the salinity particles clinging to the
external panels should be sufficientlywashed out. Be
sureto clean seawaterand dust from the outdoorunit
heat exchangerand applya corrosion inhibitoron it at
least once ayear.
• Because the residualwaterat the bottom of the
outdoorunit significantlypromotes corrosion, make
surethat the slope does not disturb drainage.
– Keepthe floorlevel so that rain does not
accumulate.
– Be careful notto block the drain hole.
• Check the condition of the product periodically.
– Check the installation site every3 months
and perform anti-corrosion treatment such as
commercialwaterrepellent grease andwax, etc.,
based on the product condition.
– When the product is to be shut down fora long
period of time, such as off-peak hours, take
appropriate measures like covering the product.
• If the product installedwithin1640.4ft (500 m) of
seashore, special anti-corrosiontreatment is required.

CAUTION
• In areaswith heavysnowfall, piled snowcould block
the airintake. To avoid this incident, install a frame
that is higherthan estimated snowfall. In addition,
install a snow-proof hood to avoid snowfrom piling on

Step3 Fixingtheoutdoorunitinplace
Installtheoutdoorunit ona rigidand stablebase toprevent
disturbancefrom anynoisecausedbyvibration.When
installing theunit ontall standsorin alocationexposedto
strongwinds,fix the unitsecurelytothe groundorstructure.
1 Position the outdoorunit so that the airflowis directed
towards the outside, as indicated bythe arrows on the
top of the unit.
2 Attach the outdoorunit to the appropriate support
using anchorbolts.
3 If the outdoorunit is exposed to strongwinds, install
wind baffles around the outdoorunit, so that the fan
can operate correctly.
NOTE
• Install provided rubberlegs to preventvibration and
noise.

Step4 Connectingthepowercables
andcommunicationcables
You must connectthe following two electrical cables to
the outdoorunit:
• The main powercables between the auxiliary circuit
breakerand the outdoorunit.
• The communication cables between the outdoorunit
and AHU Control Unit.
CAUTION
• During installation, first make the refrigerant
connections and then the electrical connections. Ifthe
unit is being removed, first disconnectthe electrical
cables andthen the refrigerant connections.
• Connectthe airconditionerto ground before making
the electrical connections.

Connectingwireconduits
When connecting cables between the indoorunit and the
outdoorunit, use conduits to protect the cables.
1 Drill holes on the conduit plate in accordancewith
theiruse and quantity.
– Use a nipperto remove conduit holes from the
lowerpart of the cabinet.
(Do not remove it byhammering.)

2 Insert the cables through the conduits, and then fix the
conduits tothe conduit plate withthe lock nuts.
3 Apply silicone to the end of the hose to prevent rain
from entering the hose.

CAUTION
• You should connectthe powercable intothe powercable terminal and fasten itwith a clamp.
• The unbalanced powermust be maintained within 2% of supplyrating.
• If the poweris unbalanced greatly, it may shortenthe life of the condenser.
• To protectthe productfromwaterand possible shock, run the powercable and the communication cablewithin the
appropriateweatherproof conduit and fittings.
• Ensurethat main supplyconnection is made through a switch that disconnects all poles,with contact gap of a least
0.12 inch(3mm).
• Devices disconnected from the powersupplyshould be completelydisconnected in the condition of overvoltage
category.
• Keep distances of1.97 inch(50mm) ormore between powercable and communication cable.
