࡙ This manual explains howto install an indoorunit with a
split systemwith two SAMSUNG units. The use of other
types of unitswith different control systems maydamage
the units and invalidate thewarranty. The manufacturer
shall not be responsible fordamages arising from the use of
non compliant units.
࡙ The manufacturershall not be responsible fordamage
originating from unauthorized changes orthe improper
connection of electric and requirements set forth in the
“Operating limits” table, included inthe manual, shall
immediately invalidate thewarranty.
࡙ The airconditionershould be used onlyforthe applications
forwhich it has been designed: the indoorunit is not
suitable to be installed in areas used forlaundry.
࡙ Do not use the units if damaged. If problems occur, switch
the unit off and disconnect it from the powersupply.
࡙ In orderto prevent electric shocks,fires orinjuries, always
stop the unit, disablethe protection switch and contact
SAMSUNG’s technical support if the unit produces smoke, if
the powercable is hot ordamaged orif the unit isvery noisy.
࡙ Always rememberto inspect the unit, electric connections,
refrigerant tubes and protections regularly. These
operations should be performed byqualified personnel only.
࡙ The unit contains moving parts,which should always be
kept out of the reach of children.
࡙ Do not attemptto repair, move, alterorreinstall the unit. If
performed byunauthorized personnel, these operations may
cause electric shocks orfires.

Do not place containerswith liquids orotherobjects on the unit.

࡙ Upon receipt, inspect the product toverifythat
it has not been damaged during transport. If the
product appears damaged, DO NOTINSTALLit and
immediatelyreport the damage to the carrieror
retailer(if the installerorthe authorized technician has
collected the material from the retailer.)
࡙ Aftercompletingthe installation, always carryout a
functional test and providethe instructions on howto
operatethe airconditionerto the user.

࡙ Do not use the airconditionerin environmentswith
hazardous substances orclose to equipment that
release free flames to avoid the occurrence of fires,
explosions orinjuries.
࡙ Do not install the product in a placewhere
thermohygrostat is needed (such as serverroom,
machineryroom, computerroom, etc.) Those places do
not provide guaranteed operation condition ofthe product
therefore performance can be poorin these places.
࡙ Do not install the product in a ship oravehicle (such
as a campervan). Salt,vibration orotherenvironmental
factormaycause the product malfunction, electric
shock orfire.
࡙
Ourunits should be installed in compliance withthe
spaces shown in the installation manual,to ensure
accessibilityfrom both sides and allowrepairs or
maintenance operations to be carried out. The unit’s
components should be accessible and easyto disassemble
without endangering people and objects.
Forthis reason,when provisions of the installation manual
are not compliedwith, the cost required to access and
repairthe units (in SAFETY CONDITIONS, as set out in
prevailing regulations)with harnesses,ladders, scaffolding
oranyotherelevation systemwill NOTbe considered part
of thewarrantyandwill be charged to the end customer.
Donotinstalltheairconditionerinfollowingplaces.
࡙ Placewhere there is mineral oil orarsenic acid. Resin
parts flame and the accessories maydrop orwater
mayleak. The capacityof the heat exchangermay
reduce orthe airconditionermay be out of order.
࡙ The placewhere corrosive gas such as sulphuric acid
gas generatesfrom thevent pipe orairoutlet.
࡙ The copperpipe orconnection pipe maycorrode and
refrigerant mayleak.
࡙ The placewhere there is a machine that generates
electromagneticwaves. The airconditionermaynot
operate normallydue to control system.
࡙ The placewhere there is a dangerof existing
combustible gas, carbon fibre orflammable dust.
࡙ The placewhere thinnerorgasoline is handled. Gas
mayleak and it maycause fire.
࡙ The placewhere animals mayurinate on the product.
Ammonia maybe generated.
࡙ The placewhere is close to heat sources.
࡙ Do not use the indoorunit forpreservation of food
items, plants, equipment, and artworks. This may
cause deterioration of theirquality.
࡙ Do not install the indoorunit if it has any drainage
problem.

complywith the specifications andthat the installed
poweris sufficient to ensurethe operation of anyother
domestic appliance connected tothe same electric lines.

are suitablydimensioned.
࡙ Verifythat the airconditioneris connectedto the power
supplyin accordancewith the instructions provided in
thewiring diagram included in the manual.
࡙ Alwaysverifythat electricconnections (cableentry,section
ofleads,protections…)arecompliantwith theelectric
specificationsandwith theinstructions providedin thewiring
scheme.Alwaysverifythatallconnectionscomplywiththe
standardsapplicabletotheinstallation of airconditioners.
࡙ Devices disconnected from the powersupplyshould
be completely disconnected inthe condition of
overvoltage category.
࡙ Be sure notto perform powercable modification,
extensionwiring, and multiplewire connection.
– It maycause electric shock orfire due to poor
connection, poorinsulation, orcurrent limit override.
– When extensionwiring is required due to power
line damage, referto "Step14 Optional: Extending
thepowercable" in the installation manual.

Makesurethatyouearththe cables.
࡙ Do not connect the earthwire to the gas pipe,water
pipe, lighting rod ortelephonewire. If earthing is not
complete, electric shock orfire mayoccur.

࡙ If the circuit breakeris not installed, electric shock or
fire mayoccur.
Make surethat the condensedwaterdripping fromthe
drainhose runsout properlyandsafely.
Installthe powercableandcommunicationcableofthe indoor

Install the indoorunit away from lighting apparatus
usingtheballast.
࡙ If you use the wireless remote control, reception error

࡙ There must be no obstacles nearthe airinlet and
outlet.
࡙ Install the indoorunit on a ceiling that can support its
weight.
࡙ Maintain sufficient clearance aroundthe indoorunit.
࡙ Before installing the indoorunit, be sureto check
whetherthe chosen location iswell-drained.
࡙ The indoorunit must be installed such that it is beyond
public access and is not touchable byusers.
࡙ Rigidwallwithoutvibration.
࡙ Where it is not exposed to direct sunshine.
࡙ Wherethe airfiltercan be removed and cleaned easily.
CAUTION
࡙ As a rule,the unit cannot be installed at a height of
less that 2.5m.
࡙ Ifyou install the cassette orduct type indoorunit on
the ceiling with humidityover80%, you must apply
extra10mm of polyethylene foam orotherinsulation
with similarmaterial on the bodyof the indoorunit.

࡙ The indoorunit must be installed according to the
specified distances in orderto permit accessibility
from each side, to guarantee correct operation,
maintenance, and repairof the unit.
The components of the indoorunit must be reachable and
removable undersafe conditions forpeople and the unit.
࡙ Do not holdthe dischargewhile carrying the indoor
unit to avoid the possibility of breakage.
࡙ You must holdthe hangerplate on the cornerand
carrythe indoorunit.

Ifyou install a cassette type indoorunit on the ceiling
when temperature is over27°C and humidityis over
80%,you must applyan extra10 mm thick polyethylene
insulation ora similartype of insulationto the bodyof the
indoorunit.

When deciding on the location of the airconditionerthe
following restrictions must be taken into account.
1 Determinethe positions of the pipe and the drain hose
hole as shown inthe pattern sheet, and drill the hole
with an innerdiameterof14 mm.
NOTE
࡙ Since the diagram is made of paper, it may shrink
orstretch slightlydue to temperature orhumidity.
Forthis reason, before drilling the holes, be sure
to maintain the correct dimensions between the
markings.

2 Performthe following steps to install inspection holes
in accordance with the panel type.

4 Install the suspension bolts, depending on the ceiling
type.

CAUTION
࡙ Make sure that the ceiling is strong enough to support
theweight of the indoorunit. Before hanging the unit,
test the strength of each attached suspension bolt.
࡙ If the length ofthe suspension bolt is morethan1.5 m,
you are required to preventvibration.
5 Screweight pairs of nuts and washers tothe
suspension bolts, making space forhanging the indoor
unit.
CAUTION
࡙ You must install all of the suspension rods.
࡙ It is important to leave sufficient space in thefalse
ceiling to allowaccess formaintenance orrepairs to
the drainage pipe connection,the refrigerant pipe
connection, orto removethe unit if necessary.
6 Hang the indoorunit to the suspension bolts between
two nuts. Cut a pad stopperand place it on the
suspension bolts to hold thewashers. Remove the
stopperand screwthe nuts to fixthe unit.

7 Adjust the unitto the appropriate position,taking into
account the installation area forthe front panel.
࡙ Place the pattern sheet onthe indoorunit.
࡙ Adjust the space between the ceiling and the
indoorunit byusing a dimension gauge.
࡙ Fix the indoorunit securelyafteradjusting the level
of the unit byusing a leveller.

The indoorunit comeswith nitrogen gas (inert gas)
charged atthe factory. Therefore, all inert gas must be
purged before connecting the assemblypiping.

Step6 Cuttingandflaringthepipes
1 Make sure thatyou havethe required tools available:
pipe cutter, reamer, flaring tool, and pipe holder.
2 Ifyou wishto shorten the pipes, cutthemwith a pipe
cutter, ensuring that the cut edge remains at a 90°
angle to the side of the pipe. Referto the illustrations
belowforexamples of edges cut correctlyand
incorrectly.

3 To prevent anygas from leaking out, remove all burrs
at the cut edge of the pipe, using a reamer.
4 Slide a flare nut on to the pipe and modifythe flare.

5 Check that the flaring is correct, referring to the

1 Removethe pinch pipe on the pipes and connect the
assemblypipes to each pipe, tightening the nuts, first
manuallyand thenwith a torquewrench, a spanner

NOTE
࡙ If the pipes must be shortened, see Step6 Cutting
andflaringthe pipes on page 10.
2 Be sure to use an insulatorthick enough to coverthe
refrigerant tube to protect the condensatewateron
the outside of the pipe falling onto the floorand to
improve the efficiencyof the unit.
3 Cut off anyexcessfoam insulation.
4 Make sure that there are no cracks orwaves on the
bent area.
5 Itwould be necessaryto double the insulation
thickness (10 mm ormore) to prevent condensation
even onthe insulatorwhen if the installed area is
warm and humid.
CAUTION
࡙ Connectthe indoorand outdoorunits using pipeswith
flared connections (not supplied). Forthe lines, use
insulated, unwelded, degreased and deoxidized copper
pipe (Cu DHPtype to ISO1337 orUNI EN12735-1),

࡙ Forsizing and limits (height difference, line length,
max. bends, refrigerant charge, etc.) seethe outdoor
unit installation manual.
࡙ All refrigerant connection must be accessible, in order
to permit eitherunit maintenance orremoving it
completely.
࡙ If the pipes require brazing, make sure that oxygen
free nitrogen (OFN) is flowing through the system.
࡙ Nitrogen blowing pressure range is 0.02to 0.05 MPa.

Step8 Performingthegasleaktest
To identifypotential gas leaks onthe indoorunit, inspect
the connection area of each refrigerant pipe using a leak
detectorforR-410A.
Before recreating thevacuum and recirculating the
refrigerant gas, pressurize thewhole systemwith
nitrogen (using a cylinderwith a pressure reducer) at
a pressure above 4 MPa in orderto immediatelydetect
leaks on the refrigerantfittings.
Madevacuum for15 minutes and pressurizing systemwith nitrogen.

Onceyou have checkedthat there are no leaks in the
system,you can insulate the piping and hose.
1 To avoid condensation problems, placeAcrylonitrile Butadien
Rubberseparatelyaround each refrigerant pipe.

2 Wind insulating tape around the pipes and drain hose
avoiding compressing the insulation too much.

3 Finishwrapping insulating tape aroundthe rest ofthe
pipes leading to the outdoorunit.
4 The pipes and electrical cables connectingthe indoor
unit with the outdoorunit must be fixed to thewall
with suitable ducts.
CAUTION
࡙ Make sure that all refrigerant connection must be
accessibleforeasymaintenance and detachment.
࡙ Install the insulation not to getwiderand use the
adhesives on the connection part of it to prevent
moisture from entering.
࡙ Wind the refrigerant pipewith insulation tape if it is
exposed to outside sunlight.
࡙ Install the refrigerant pipe respecting that the
insulation does not get thinneron the bent part or
hangerof pipe.
࡙ Add the additional insulation ifthe insulation plate
gets thinner.

5 Selectthe insulation of the refrigerant pipe.
࡙ Insulate the gas side and liquid side pipe, noting the
insulation thickness that must differaccording to
the pipe size.
࡙ Standard: Less than an indoortemperature of 30°C,
with humidityat 85%. If installing in a high humidity
environment, use one grade thickerinsulatorby
referring to the table below. If installing in an
unfavourable environment, use thickerone.
࡙ The heat-resistancetemperature of the insulator
must be morethan120°C.

Step10 Installingthedrainhoseand
drainpipe
1 Push the supplied drain hose as faras possible over
the drain socket.
2 Tighten the metal clamp as shown in the picture.
3 Wrapthe supplied large sealing pad overthe metal
clamp and drain hose to insulate and fix itwith clamps.
4 Insulate the complete drain piping inside the building
(field supply).
If the drain hose cannot be sufficientlyset on a slope,
fit the hosewith drain raising piping (field supply).

Step11 Performingthedrainagetest
1 Do a leaktest at the connection part of the flexible
hose and the drian pipe:
a Connect a general hose tothe connection part of
the flexible hose of the indoorunit, and pourin
somewater.

b Afterpouring somewater, reassemble the rubber
cap on the connection part of a flexible hose of
the indoorunit and firmlytighten itwith a band to
prevent leakage.
c Check the leaktest at the partwhere the adhesive
forthe flexible hose and the drian pipe is used.
CAUTION
࡙ The leak test must be performedforat least 24 hours.
2 Check the condensed waterdrainage:
a Pourabout 2 liters ofwaterinto the indoorunit
drain pan as shown inthe picture.
b When the electric cable connection is completed
࡙ Turn on the indoorunit and outdoorunit.
࡙ Operate in the Cool mode.
CAUTION
࡙ Onlyin the Cool mode,you can check the correct
operation of the drain pump.
When the electric cable connection has not been completed
࡙ Removethe control box coverof the indoorunit.
࡙ Connectthe powersupply(230V, 60Hz) tothe Land
N terminals.
࡙ Reassemble the control box coverand turn on the
indoorunit.
CAUTION
࡙ Whenthefloat switchis notdetectedduetoinsufficient
wateronthedrainpan,thedrainpumpwillnotwork.
࡙ If the powersupplyis directlyconnected to the L
and N terminals, communication errormessage
might appear.
࡙ Aftercompleting the drainage check, turn the unit
off and disconnect the powersupply.
࡙ Reassemble the control box cover.
c Checkwhetherthe drain pumpworks correctly.
d Checkwhetherthe drainage is performing
correctlyat the end of the drain pipe.
e Check forleakage atthe drain pipe and drain pipe
connection part.

f When leakage occurs, checkwhetherthe indoorunit
is level and check the drain hose connection part,
drainpipe connection part and drain pump connection.
g When the drainage check is completed and
the condensedwaterremains onthe drain pan,

CAUTION

grounding system before performing the electric connections.
Use a crimp ring terminal atthe end of each wire.
The indoorunit is powered through the outdoorunit by
means of a H05 RN-F orH07 RN-F connection cable (ora
more powermodel),with insulation in synthetic rubber
and a jacket in polychloroprene (neoprene), in accordance
with the requirements specified inthe standard EN
60335-2-40.
1 Removethe screwon the electrical component box
and remove the coverplate.
2 Route the connection cordthrough the side of the
indoorunit and connect the cable tothe terminals
referto the figure below.
3 Route the otherend of the cable to the outdoorunit
throughthe ceiling & the hole on thewall.
4 Reassemble the electrical component box cover,
carefullytightening the screw.

tube, insert a contractiontube.
࡙ If cablewires are connectedwithout using
connecting sleeves, theircontact area becomes
reduced, orcorrosion develops onthe outer
surfaces ofthe wires (copperwires) overa long
time. This maycause an increase of resistance
(reduction of passing current) and consequently
mayresult in a fire.
