Safety precautions

When using your device while driving, follow local regulations in the region you are
in.

Never disassemble or modify your device for any reason. Doing this may cause the
device to malfunction or become combustible. Bring the device to an authorized
service center to repair it.

Keep your device and all accessories out of the reach of small children or animals.
Small parts may cause choking or serious injury if swallowed.

Avoid exposing your device to very cold or very hot temperatures (below 0° C or
above 45° C). Extreme temperatures can cause the deformation of the device and
reduce the charging capacity and life of your device.

Do not allow your device to get wet — liquids can cause serious damage. Do not
handle your device with wet hands. Water damage to your device can void your
manufacturer’s warranty.

Avoid using your device’s light close to the eyes of children or animals.

Getting started
Charging the hands-free car kit
This hands-free car kit has a rechargeable internal battery which is non-
removable. Ensure that you fully charge the battery before using the hands-free
car kit for the first time.
1 Plug the small end of the cigar lighter adapter into the adapter jack.
2 Plug the large end of the cigar lighter adapter into the accessory outlet in your
vehicle.
3 When the hands-free car kit is fully charged, the charging icon is no longer
moving. Unplug the cigar lighter adapter from hands-free car kit.
You can also use the travel adapter to charge the hands-free car kit.
Use only a Samsung-approved charger. Unauthorized chargers may
cause an explosion or damage to the hands-free car kit.
The battery will gradually wear out while charging or discharging
because it is a consumable part.
When the battery charge gets low
The hands-free car kit beeps and the battery icon is blinking. Recharge the battery.
If the hands-free car kit powers off during a call, the call will be automatically
transferred to the phone.

Using your hands-free car kit
This section explains how to turn the hands-free car kit on, pair and connect to the
phone, and use various functions.
Activated functions and features may differ depending on the types of your
phone.
Some devices, especially those that are not tested or approved by
Bluetooth SIG, may be incompatible with your hands-free car kit.
Turning the hands-free car kit on or off
To turn the hands-free car kit on, slide the Power switch left. The hands-free car
kit beeps and the display is on.
To turn the hands-free car kit off, slide the Power switch right. The hands-free car
kit beeps and the display is off.

Turning the driving mode on or off
In Pairing mode, press and hold the voice button for 4 seconds.
You can also use the voice command "Driving Mode Setting."
When the driving mode is on, you will hear "Driving mode is on."
Using the voice command
You can control your hands-free car kit using your voice. Your hands-free car kit
can recognize only English commands.
1 Press the Voice button to activate the voice command
To use the voice command feature, ensure that the voice prompt is on.
2 Wait for the hands-free car kit ask you to “Say a command.”
If you don’t say any command for 5 seconds, you will hear, “Cancelled.” To
reactivate the voice command, press the Voice button.
3 Say one of the following commands loudly and clearly.
Command Action
“Driving Mode Setting” Check the status of Driving mode, and ask to
change on or off. Say “Yes” or “No” to

change the mode.
“Pair Active” Enter the Active pairing mode
“Pair Normal” Enter the Normal pairing mode
“Connection Status” Find out if the hands-free car kit is connected
to the device or not.
“Redial” Redial the last number you called on the
currently connected primary phone.
“Redial Two” Redial the last number you called on the
currently connected secondary phone.
“Call 1”, “Call2” or “Call 3” Call the corresponding speed dial number
stored on your phone.
'"Missed call back"
Call the latest missed call stored on your phone.
"Incoming call back"
Call the latest incoming call stored on your phone.
"Outgoing call back"
Call the latest outgoing call stored on your phone.
“Multi Point Setting” Check the status of Multi-Point mode, and
turn it on or off. Say “Yes” or “No” to change
the mode.
“Check Battery” Check the battery level on the hands-free car
kit and the currently connected phone.

“Phone Voice Command” Access your phone’s voice dialing feature, if
it has one.
“Phone Voice Command
Two” Access the secondary connected phone’s
voice dialing feature, if it has one.
“Command List ” List of Voice Commands.
“Voice Prompt”
Check the status of Voice prompt.
Say “Yes“ or
“No“ to change the mode.
Your hands-free car kit may not recognize voice commands if you speak
softly or unclearly.
Your hands-free car kit may inadvertently recognize voice commands
from background sounds that are louder than your voice.
Using the voice prompt
The voice prompt will inform you about the current status of the hands-free car kit
and usage instructions. The voice prompt is available in English only.

Turning the voice prompt on or off
To turn the voice prompt on
In Pairing mode, press and hold the Volume up button for 4 seconds. You will
hear “Voice prompt is on” from your hands-free car kit.
To turn the voice prompt off
In Pairing mode, press and hold the Volume down button for 4 seconds. You will
hear “Voice prompt is on” from your hands-free car kit.
The following voice prompts are available according to the status:
Status Voice prompt
When you enter Pairing mode “Ready to pair. Search for the
hands-free car kit from the
Bluetooth menu. Enter 0000 if
prompted for a PIN”
When you enter Active pairing mode “Active pairing mode”
When Active pairing failes “Active pairing failed”
When you connect the hands-free car kit to
a phone (when Multi-point mode is off) “Device is connected”
When you connect the hands-free car kit to “Primary device is connected” or

a phone (when Multi-point mode is on) “Secondary device is connected”
When you connect the hands-free car kit to
a music device “Music device is connected”
When a call comes in “Call from [phone number]. Say
answer or ignore”
Pairing and connecting the hands-free car kit
Pairing will create a unique and encrypted wireless link between two Bluetooth-
enabled devices, such as a Bluetooth phone and your Bluetooth hands-free car kit.
To use the hands-free car kit with other Bluetooth devices, the devices must be
paired. When trying to pair the two devices, keep the hands-free car kit and the
phone reasonably close together. After pairing, you can connect the two devices.
Pairing and connecting the hands-free car kit with a phone
1 Enter Pairing mode.
- With the hands-free turned on, press and hold the Talk button for 4
seconds. You will hear “Ready to pair.”
- You can also use the Voice command “Pair Normal.”
- If you turn on the hands-free car kit for the first time, it proceeds into
Pairing mode immediately.

2 Activate the Bluetooth feature on your phone and search for the hands-free car
kit (see your phone’s user manual).
3 Select the hands-free car kit from the list of devices found by your phone.
4 Enter the Bluetooth PIN (0000, 4 zeros) to pair and connect the hands-free car
kit to your phone.
Your hands-free car kit supports the Simple Pairing feature which allows
the hands-free car kit to be paired with a phone without requesting a
PIN. This feature is available for phones that are compliant with
Bluetooth version 2.1 or higher.
Turning the Multi-point mode on or off
To turn the Multi-point mode on
In Pairing mode, press and hold the Volume up button. You will hear “Multi-point
mode is on”. You can also use the Voice command “Multi Point Setting.”
To turn the Multi-point mode off
In Pairing mode, press and hold the Volume down button. You will hear “Multi-
point mode is off.” You can also use the Voice command “Multi Point Setting.”

Connecting with two Bluetooth phones
With the Multi-point feature activated, your hands-free car kit can be connected
with two Bluetooth phones at the same time.
1 After connecting with the first Bluetooth phone, press and hold the Talk button.
You will hear “Ready to pair.”
2 Activate Multi-point feature
-Press and hold the Volume up button. You will hear “Multi-point mode is on.”
-You can also use the Voice command “Multi Point Setting”
3 Activate the Bluetooth feature on the second Bluetooth phone and search for
the hands-free car kit (see your phone’s user manual).
4 Select the hands-free car kit(HF4000) from the list of devices found by the
second Bluetooth phone.
5 Enter the Bluetooth PIN (0000, 4 zeros) to connect the hands-free car kit to the
phone.
6 Reconnect to the hands-free car kit from the first Bluetooth phone.
When the hands-free car kit connects to two Bluetooth phones, some
phones may not connect to the hands-free car kit as the second
Bluetooth phone.
Disconnecting the hands-free car kit

To disconnect the hands-free car kit from your phone,
- Turn off the hands-free car kit or use the Bluetooth menu on your phone.
Reconnecting the hands-free car kit
When the hands-free car kit is paired with devices, it will attempt to automatically
reconnect each time you turn it on. If the Multi-point Mode is off, only primary
phone will be connected.
If the hands-free car kit does not automatically attempt to reconnect,
- Press the Talk button or use the Bluetooth menu on your phone.
Pairing via the Active pairing feature
With the Active pairing feature, your hands-free car kit can automatically search
for a Bluetooth phone and try to make a connection with it. This feature is
available for mobile phones, but the phone’s Bluetooth visibility option must be set
to on.
1 In Pairing mode, press and hold the Talk button. You can also use the Voice
command “Pair Active”
2 The Device icon is blinking and you will hear “Active pairing mode.”
3 The hands-free car kit will search a Bluetooth phone within range, and attempt
to pair with it.

Ensure the phone you wish to connect to is within range of the hands-
free car kit. Place the hands-free car kit and phone close to each other
to avoic pairing with other devices.
The Bluetooth phone you want to connect with must not be paired with
other devices. If the phone is already connected to another device, end
the connection and restart the Active pairing feature.
This feature may be unavailable depending on the some PDAs.
Using call functions
Available call functions may vary depending on the phone.
For better sound quality during a call, avoid covering the
secondary microphone.
Making a call
Redialing the last Number
Press and hold the Talk button to redial the last number of the most recently
conneted phone. You can also use the Voice command “Redial.”
Press the Talk button twice to redial the last number of the second phone. You
can also use the Voice command “Redial Two”

For some phones, pressing the Talk button opens the call log list. Press
the Talk button again to dial the selected number.
Dialing a number by voice
Press the Talk button and say a name. You can dial a number of the first phone.
Dialing speed dials stored on your phone
Use the voice command “”Call1” , ”Call2” or “Call3.” Your hands-free car kit
recognizes up to three speed dial numbers that are saved in your phone.
Answering a call
-Press the Talk button to answer a call when you hear incoming call tones.
-You can also say “Answer” when you hear “Call from [phone number] Say yes or
ignore”
Ending a call
Press the Talk button to end a call.
Rejecting a call
-When a call comes in, press and hold the Talk button to reject a call.
-You can also just say “Ignore” when you hear “Call from [phone number] Say yes
or ignore”
When two calls from the two connected phones come in, you can reject the call of the
first phone.

This function is available only on the Hands-Free profile. For more
information, see your phone’s user manual.
Using options during a call
You can use the following functions during the call.
Adjusting the volume
Press the Volume up or down button to adjust the volume
You will hear a beep when the volume level of the hands-free car kit reaches
to the lowest or highest level
Muting the microphone
Press and hold the Volume up or down button to turn the microphone off so that
the person with whom you are speaking cannot hear you. When the microphone
is turned off, the hands-free car kit beeps at regular intervals and mic icon is
appeared. Press and hold the Volume up or down button again to turn the
microphone back on.
Transferring a call from the phone to the hands-free car kit
Press the Talk button to transfer a call from the phone to the hands-free car kit.
Placing a call on hold
Press and hold the Talk button to place the current call on hold.

When the hands-free car kit is connected with two phones, this function is
not available.
This function is available only on the Hands-Free profile. For more
information, see your phone’s user manual.
Answering a second call
Press the Talk button to end the first call and answer a second call of the same phone
when you hear call waiting tones.
Press and hold the Talk button to place the first call on hold and answer a second
call of the same phone when you hear call waiting tones.
To switch between the current call and a held call, press and hold the Talk button.
When the hands-free car kit is connected with two phones, this function is
not available.
This function is available only on the Hands-Free profile. For more
information, see your phone’s user manual.
Answering a new call of the second phone
Press the Talk button to end the first call and answer a second call of the other phone
when you hear call waiting tones.
Press and hold the Talk button to place the first call on hold and answer a second call
of the other phone when you hear call waiting tones.
To switch between the current call and the held call, press and hold the Talk button.

This function is available only on the Hands-Free profile. For more
information, see your phone’s user manual.
DB deletion
When the hands-free car kit is paired with your phone, it automatically saves
information from the phone, such as the Bluetooth address or device type. With
the DB feature you can delete all saved information from your hands-free car kit.
1 Enter DB deletion mode.
In Pairing mode, simultaneously press and hold both the Volume buttons
for 4 seconds. You will hear “DB deletion mode.”
2 Press the Volume down button. You will hear “Deletion completed.”
If you don’t press the Volume down button within 5 seconds, you will hear,
“Cancelled.” And the hands-free car kit enter Pairing mode.

Frequently asked questions
Will my hands-free
car kit work with
laptops, PCs, and
PDAs?
Your hands-free car kit will work with Bluetooth
devices that support same hands-free car kit’s
Bluetooth profiles.
Why do I hear static
or interference
while on a call? Appliances such as cordless phones and
wireless networking equipment may cause
interference, which usually sounds like static. To
reduce any interference, keep the hands-free car
kit away from other devices that use or produce
radio waves.
Will my hands-free
car kit interfere with
my car’s
electronics, radio,
or computer?
Your hands-free car kit emits signals that are in
compliance with the international Bluetooth
standard. Therefore, you should not expect any
interference with standard, consumer-grade
electronic equipment.
Can other Bluetooth
phone users hear When you pair your hands-free car kit to your
Bluetooth phone, you are creating a private link
between only these two Bluetooth devices. The

my conversation? wireless Bluetooth technology used in your
hands-free car kit is not easily monitored by third
parties because Bluetooth wireless signals are
significantly lower in radio frequency power than
those produced by a typical mobile phone.
Why do I hear an
echo while on a
call? Adjust the hands-free car kit volume, or move to
another area and try again.
How do I clean my
hands-free car kit? Wipe it with a soft dry cloth.
The hands-free car
kit does not fully
charge. The hands-free car kit and the travel adapter
may not have been connected properly.Separate
the hands-free car kit from the travel adapter,
reconnect, and charge the hands-free car kit.
I cannot use all the
features described in
the manual.
Available features may vary depending on the
connected device. If your hands-free car kit is
connected to two devices at once, some features
may be unavailable.
