Pre Repair Test
Instructions
Click on Apps
Click on Settings
Perform a full function test to ensure that there are no other issues with the phone. I.E. No power, will not make a phone call, etc. Check phone Power Levels.
Go to Settings, About Phone, Status and check Signal Strength. Annotate power levels for future tests after repair.
PHONE RF FIELD TEST
Perform this test BEFORE conducting the screen replacement to confirm the phone is working properly and repeat after screen replacement is complete to
confirm the phone is properly working.
Test procedure
Review the current signal strength by following these paths to get to the Signal Strength screen.
To put the Phone in field test mode
Dial *3001#12345#*
Perform a full function test to ensure that there are no other issues with the phone. I.E.
No power, will not make a phone call, etc. Any issue outside of the LCM and the repair
should not be performed.
PHONE RF FIELD TEST
Perform this test BEFORE conducting the screen replacement to confirm the phone is
working properly and repeat after screen replacement is complete to confirm the
phone is properly working.
Once repairs are completed Signal Strength must be compared to the original
readings. Strength of signal must be within -10 dBm of the original reading at the
same phone location. Example: If first reading is -91 dbm, new reading cannot be
greater than -101 dBm. Readings moving up show a stronger strength and are
acceptable. Example: From -91dBm to -81dBm. -150 dBm is a no signal
indication.
Note: Clean Work area of all or any debris after Repair.

Step 8: Continue hinging the LCM Assembly out while working down the
Battery Well gently applying pressure.
Step 7: Release the plastic latch to continue the LCM Assembly removal if
required.
Step 6: Placing pressure on the open area above the SD Card Connector
and the top of the Battery Well push the top of the LCM Assembly out of
the Back Housing.
Step 5: Using the Phillips #00 Screwdriver Remove the 13 Phillips Screws
outlined.
Step 3: Remove the SIM and SD Cards if present.
Step 4: Remove the Stylus from the assembly.
Step 2: Remove the Battery.
Step 1: Remove the Battery Door.
Disassembly

Step 14: Remove any remaining LCM adhesive from the plastic frame.
Ensure the Receiver Speaker Grill is aligned properly.
Ensure the left and right Soft Key Flex extensions are aligned properly
and adhered to the plastic frame.
Note:
Please keep work area and surrounding area as clean as possible of any
broken glass from the screen or LCD display.
Step 9: Insert the full length of the opening pick between the Plastic
Frame and the Copper Foil on the back of the LCM Assembly.
Step 10: Cut the adhesive in the area designated by the arrows.
Moving outside of the area detailed by the arrows may result in Flex
Cable damage.
Step 12: Begin separating the Plastic Frame and the LCM at the top.
Slide the spudger into the opening and disconnect the LCM Flex Cables.
Step 11: Cut the adhesive between the Plastic Frame and the Touchpanel
in the area designated by the arrows.
Step 13: Hinging at the bottom continue separating the LCM from the
Plastic Frame.
Separate the Soft Key Flex Cables from the Touchpanel before removing
it from the Plastic Frame.
Step 8A: Apply heat over the entire surface area of the LCM Assembly
using a heat gun.
Exercise caution when heating any handset to ensure that the
temperature does not exceed the point where unintended damage
occurs.

Step 2: If premade is not available, use the approved roll adhesive.
Assembly
Step 6:Starting with the lower portion install the assembly into the Back
Housing.
Once installed press firmly on the LCM in various areas to ensure it is
adhered well to the Plastic Frame.
Step 1: If present, remove the film from the back of the LCM by pulling
up on the blue and green tabs. This will expose the copper film on the
back of LCM along with the top and bottom adhesives.
Step 1A: If the adhesive is not pre-installed, the two following
procedures may be followed.
Use of pre-made adhesive: Separate from the protective film and apply
it to the plastic frame as shown.
Step 3: Apply to the areas in RED.
Ensure that the sensors on both sides of the Receiver Speaker Grill and
the Left / Right Softkey Flexes are not covered.
Step 4: Connect the LCM Flex Cables to the Main PCB.
Step 5: Align the LCM with the Receiver Speaker Grill and the Home Key.
Lightly adhere the LCM to the Plastic Frame.
