The Key Pad Explained
As you can see the Samsung GT-E3210 Classic Phone has quite a simple layout
The soft keys a e the two top keys with the white lines on them.
These keys elate to the wo ds on the sc een di ectly above them.
The cente of the la ge black key is a “confi mation” key. Fo example when you a e in the menu
highlight the option you want and p ess the cente of the button to ente the app op iate menu.

The outside of the la ge cente key can also be used to sc oll th ough menu's
The buttons on the left and ight of the di ection key a e the accept/make call and powe / end call keys
The handset key on the left hand side is the accept call / make call key and the handset/powe key on
the ight hand side can be used to end o eject calls as well as tu ning the phone on and off.
In addition to the above the ight hand handset/powe key can also be used to etu n you to the main
phone sc een if you find you a e lost in the phone's menus.
Finally the nume ic keypad.
The 0 Key is used to gain a + sign which is ve y impo tant fo dialing. You can access the + by p essing and
holding on the key until a + appea s on the sc een of the phone. It is also the key you need to use to ente
spaces in text messages.
P essing and holding the # will activate o deactivate the silent p ofile.
The * Key can be used to Lock o unlock you key pad, it is also the key you need to p ess to access the full
Symbol/ punctuation menu when c eating a text message.
All of the keys on this phone a e activated by p essing the numbe / symbol and not the ecessed sepa ato
line.
Screen Illumina ion
Usually the sc een illumination o “Backlight” is set to 10 seconds, this is to help extend you batte y life but
can be int usive when attempting to set up the phone.
To change the length of time the sc een emains lit you need to go into the following options;
P ess MENU > Sc oll to Settings > P ess SELECT > Sc oll to Display > P ess SELECT > Sc oll to Backlight >
P ess SELECT
You will now have the option to choose the length of time the phone takes to tu n off the backlight. Simply
sc oll to the app op iate option and p ess SAVE.

Lock he keypad
To lock the key pad on the phone p ess and hold the * key.
If the keypad is locked the when you p ess any keys the phone will display the following message on the
sc een “Keypad is locked. Long p ess the * key”
To unlock the key pad on the phone simply p ess and hold the * key.
This phone has an automatic keypad lock function which we ecommend that you activate to p event costly
accidental calls.
To automatically lock the keypad afte a specified pe iod of inactivity p ess P ess MENU > Sc oll to settings
> P ess SELECT > Sc oll to Phone > P ess SELECT > Sc oll to Keypad auto-lock > P ess SELECT > Sc oll to
on > P ess SAVE
The automatic key pad lock will take effect when the sc een light switches off.
Se he Da e and Time
To change / Set the Date and Time on you Samsung GT-E3210 handset you will need to;
P ess MENU > Sc oll to settings > P ess SELECT >Sc oll to Time and date > P ess SELECT> sc oll down
filling in the sections which a e available in the following o de ;
•Home Zone (press CHANGE and you will be able to choose the time zone you are currently in)
•Time
•Date
•Time Fo mat (Press CHANGE and the phone will automatically switch between 24 and 2 hour clock)
•Date Fo mat (Press CHANGE and the phone will automatically switch between DD/MM/YYYY or
YYYY/MM/DD)
Please note that this phone will not automatically update the time when you t avel, you will need to do this
manually.
Change he language back o English
The phone you eceive will be set to English as standa d, should you accidentally change the language you
can follow the inst uctions below to change the phone back into English.
P ess > Sc oll to the pictu e of the Cog p ess > p ess the 4 key, then p ess the 2 key.
You will now be in the language list whe e you should sc oll to “English” and then p ess you phone
should now be set to English.
NB Automatic which is the first in the list should also work instead of English as long as the SIM card is
correctly installed within the phone.

En er phone numbers in o he phone
The e a e 2 ways to do this;
F om the main sc een type in the Telephone numbe (don’t fo get to include the + and the app op iate
count y code fo example [phone]) > p ess the soft key unde the wo d options > sc oll to Add to
Contacts > P ess SELECT > Highlight C eate Contact > P ess SELECT
You will now have the option to choose the type of contact, Mobile (cell numbe ) Telephone / landline
numbe , fax o etc / othe , highlight you p efe ed type and p ess SELECT.
Now you can assign a name to you contact using you keypad. When you a e happy with the name p ess
SAVE. The phone will then state “Saved” and etu n you to the sc een with the typed numbe in it, tap the
handset/powe key on the ight to etu n to the main sc een.

Ente the contacts menu, eithe f om the main sc een soft key o by going into the menu and sc olling to
phone then p ess SELECT.
Once in the contacts menu, P ess CREATE ente the details and once you a e happy with the details p ess
SELECT
If you are experiencing difficulties entering the name into the contact field, for example the keys are not
reacting as expected, you will need to change the way that the phone is currently set to input the text. This
can be done while in the name field by pressing the soft key under the word “options” scrolling to the menu
heading “writing options” pressing SELECT and then pressing SELECT again on “Input Method”. Scroll down
and highlight option number 4 “Abc”, you should now be able to enter the text as expected (e.g. to gain an o
you would need to press the 6 key three times)

to delete > P ess Select.
If you would like to delete all of you contacts P ess Select > sc oll to Phone > P ess Select > sc oll and
highlight any name > P ess Options >Sc oll down to delete multiple > P ess Select > Highlight Select all and
p ess > P ess Options > Highlight Delete and then P ess Select.
Change he Ring ones
To change the ing tones on you phone please follow the inst uctions below:
P ess Menu – Sc oll to the pictu e of the Cog p ess Select > Sc oll to “Sound P ofiles”, P ess Select > -
sc oll and highlight the p ofile name i.e. no mal & p ess options and then edit – you will then have access to
the ingtone and ale t settings which you can change.

Silen and Vibra e aler func ions
Phone does have vib ate ale t which can be activated th ough the Sound P ofiles menu, you can choose to
have the phone "Vib ate" o "Mute".
To set Silent Ale t p ess down on the # key fo a few seconds.
Mas er Rese
Maste eset gives you two options eithe to esto e settings only which esto es phone to default o esto e all which
esto es all the settings and deletes pe sonal info mation inc contacts and pictu es.
You can find the Reset options via the Settings menu > sc oll to Reset > P ess SELECT.
Once in the Reset menu you will be able to choose which options you eset.
If you have not al eady picked a passwo d you will be asked to “Ente a new Passwo d” befo e esetting the phone. If
you al eady have a passwo d you will be asked to ente “Phone Passwo d”.
This passwo d is use defined and cannot be eset if fo gotten.
Force a ne work search
Should you have issues finding a local netwo k to connect to o you a e having se ious p oblems using the netwo k you
a e cu ently connected to you may want to pe fo m a "Fo ced Netwo k Sea ch"

Se he SIM PIN
The SIM PIN can be used to secu e you phone - once this has been activated you will not be able to tu n you phone
on without inputting the SIM PIN.
To change the SIM PIN f om the standa d 5555 you will need to switch the SIM PIN on fi st.
P ess SELECT > Sc oll to settings > P ess SELECT > sc oll to Secu ity > Sc oll to PIN Lock > P ess SELECT > Highlight
On > P ess SELECT
You will be asked to ente you PIN > Ente PIN > P ess SELECT
You will now be back in the Secu ity Menu and will be able to change the PIN, stay within this menu and sc oll to
Change PIN > P ess SELECT > Ente you cu ent PIN > P ess SELECT > Ente new PIN > P ess SELECT > Ente new PIN
again > P ess SELECT – you PIN will now be changed.
NB. The SIM Lock is no associa ed wi h he SIM PIN, all his op ion does is require a PIN o be en ered if a new SIM
Card is pu in o he phone.

Predic ive and normal ex inpu
Occasionally the e a e issues when attempting to ente text into the phones as the phone will "guess" what
you want to w ite. This is known as p edictive text.
P edictive Text allows common wo ds to be ente ed by a single key p ess fo each lette , as opposed to the
multiple key p ess app oach. The intent is to simplify the w iting of text messages, howeve we often find
that the opposite is the case.
To change the way text is input you will need to be c eating a text message.
P ess SELECT > sc oll to messaging > P ess SELECT > highlight c eate message > P ess SELECT > using the
la ge cente key, p ess down once to be in the body of a blank message > P ess the top left hand key unde
the wo d “options” > Sc oll to “W iting Options” P ess SELECT > Sc oll to Input Method > P ess SELECT
The top option on the mini menu that appea s will eithe say “P edictive Text on” o P edictive Text Off”
(the full sentence is too long to show on the main sc een so it will sc oll th ough the wo ds) to switch
between the 2 menu options simply p ess select when this menu option is highlighted.
You should now be able to ente the text as expected (e.g. to gain an o you would need to p ess the 6 key
th ee times
Problems sending ex messages
If you eceive the message "E o " when attempting to send a text it is likely that you have accidentally
changed the Message Cente Numbe sto ed within you phone.
All text (SMS) messages a e sent to this numbe befo e they a e sent onto the app op iate pa ty.
The Message Cent e Numbe is sto ed in:
Menu >MESSAGES > P ess SELECT > Sc oll to Settings > P ess SELECT > Sc oll to text messages > P ess
SELECT > sc oll to Se vice Cente
The numbe should be displayed in you phone as [phone].
If the numbe is not as shown you should delete the numbe cu ently sto ed and eplace it with
[phone] by p essing change and then clea ing the numbe cu ently sto ed and then typing in the
co ect numbe .
Sent messages will appea in you Sentbox and not you Outbox.
Problems receiving ex messages
You Mobal phone is capable of eceiving text messages, the p oblem usually lies with the sende of the
message, pa ticula ly if the sende of the text message is using a non GSM phone.
We would ecommend that you have the people texting to you contact thei domestic p ovide and ask
whe e the sending of the message is going w ong, they should explain that they a e able to eceive texts
f om you, but they a e unable to eply to you.
Please emembe that texting is not gua anteed and we ecommend that in the case of eme gency you
always call athe than text, as even successful texts can be delayed fo up to 72 hou s!
