WARNING
Usingthefancoilunit
• This product isfora centralized airconditioning
control.
• Failure to observe the following maycause
condensation waterto overflow, leading to water
leakage.
– Do not turn offthe powerswitch although the
product is not usedfora long time.
– Do not turn offthe powerswitch immediately after
stopping the operation.
– Be sure to attach avalve to each ofthe piping inlet
and outlet.
• When operating the product forthe first time, purge
airby usingthe airvent valve. Failure to do so may
result in poorperformance and noise.
• Do not insert the airvent hose into the drain hole of
the drain plate. Failure to do to maycause waterto
overflowfrom the drain plate.
• Be sure to insulate the piping.
• Do not use anyheat medium otherthanwater.
• When the product is not used fora long time, drain
water.
• Before operating the product, make sure that the
controlvalve is open.
• Be sureto keepthe start operation sequence of fan

• Observe the following to prevent condensation in
summer:
– Do not use the product in hot and humid places
(relative humidity80% ormore).
Waterfalling fromthe product maycause fire or
propertydamage.
– To ensure 24-hourflow of coldwater, be sure to
install a 2-way electricvalve. If not installed, water
overflowand condensation mayoccur.
When the fan coil unit is stopped,the interworking
control with the 2-way electricvalue (valve closed)
blocks coldwaterfrom circulating to prevent
condensation inside the product.
If no 2-way electricvalve is installed, condensation
watermaybe generated and condensation may
develop inside the product.
– When the heat source (chiller, boiler) is not usedfor
morethan 4 hours during the Cool mode, stop the
watercirculation.
If thewatercirculation cannot be stopped, operate
the fan at a lowspeed.
• Observe the following to prevent the piping from
freezing and bursting inwinter:
– Use a circulation pumpto keepwaterrunning, or
run a hotwaterboilerin intense coldweather.
– If the product is not used fora long time, drain
waterfrom the entire system.
• When a season ends, drainwaterfrom the entire
system, including the heat exchangerand the piping.
• Ǯ˵ʪϩ˵ʪϑЇΧΧциɇϩʪθϩʪΧʪθɇϩЇθʪϑɇɵͱЭʪߧߦঐࡡ
the fan coil unit mayenterthe protection control mode
(operation stopped)forproduct protection.
Beforeinstalling ormaintainingthefancoilunit
• Be sure to disconnect all powersources before
installation, service, orcleaning.
Installing the fancoil unit
• Make sure that installation must be performed bya
qualified installer.
– If the product is installed bythe customerand if
it is not installed completely, it maycausewater
leakage, electric shock, orfire.
• Install the product safelyin a place that has enough
strength to support the product weight.
• If the strength is insufficient, the product mayfall off,
causing personal injury.

• Make sure that there are no otherproducts orobjects
underthe fan coil unit.

• Electricwork must be performed bya qualified
electrician in accordance with thewith the "local
regulations" and "code" and this installation manual.
– If the capacityof the powersupplycircuit is
insufficient orthe electricalwork is performed
incorrectly, it maycause electric shock orfire.
• Forthe powersupplyof the fan coil unit, use a dedicated
powersupplyline of the rated powerormore.
In addition, do not extendthe powercable arbitrarily.
– If the connection is incomplete, it maycause fire.
• Be sure to arrange the electrical wires so that the
structure ofthe electric device includingthe coveris
not lifted, and secure the coverfirmly.
– If the coveris installed incorrectly, it may causethe
terminal parts to overheat, leading to electric shock
orfire.
• Forthe parts and tools used in installation, be sure to
use the supplied accessories and the specified parts
an tools.
– Failure to usethe supplied accessories and the
specified parts maycause product malfunction,
waterleakage, electric shock, orfire.
• Afterthe installation, be sureto check forwater
leakage.
– Afterfinishing the installation work, check that
there is no waterleakage. Ifwaterleaks contact
with a fan, heater, orstove, etc., it may cause fire or
propertydamage.
• Make sure thatyou earth the cables.
– Do not connect the earthwire to the gas pipe,water
pipe, lighting rod, ortelephonewire. Incomplete
earthing maycause electric shock orfire.
• Perform the installationwork according to this
installation manual.
– Incomplete installation maycausewaterleakage,
electric shock, orfire.
• Aftercompleting the installation, check the following
before operating the product:
– The piping is connected correctly and securely, and
there is nowaterleakage.
• Do not modify and extend the powercable. Avoid
complicatedwirings.
– Failure to do so maycause connection defect,
insulation defect, orovercurrent, leading to electric
shock orfire.
– If you need to extend the powercable because it
is damaged, follow"Extending the powercable" in
this installation manual.
• Before performing electricalwirings forthe fan coil
unit, be sureto disconnect the main power
– Failure to do so maycause electric shock.
• Depending on the installation location, an earth
leakage breakermust be installed.
– Failure to do so maycause electric shock.
• Do not modifythe product arbitrarily.
– Failure to do so maycause product malfunction,
electric shock, fire, orpersonal injury.
• When the fan coil unit is fixed inside the ceiling, be
careful that the powercable,waterpipes, and electric
parts are not subject towaterorexternal impact.
• Be sure to connect the powercable to an auxiliary
circuit breaker(ELCB, ELB, MCCB) dedicated tothe fan
coil unit.
– If a dedicated auxiliarycircuit breaker(ELCB, ELB,
MCCB) is not installed, the powersupplymaynot
be cut off in case of overcurrent orcurrent leakage,
leading to electric shock orfire.
• Make sure that thewiring is securelyconnected using
the specifiedwires, and securelyfix thewires sothat
no external force from them is applied to the terminal
connection part.
– Incomplete connection orfixation maycause heat
orfire.
• Be carefulthat the room powersupplyis not out of
thevoltage range (minimumvoltage to maximum
voltage).
– Failure to do so maycause damage to electrical
parts ordegradation to part performance, leading
to product malfunction.
Afterinstallingthefancoilunit
• Aftercompleting the installation, be sure to checkfor
leakage from thewaterpipes.

CAUTION
• Before starting the Installation, be sureto carefully
readthis installation manual.
• Make sure that the product is transported to the
installation sitewith being packed.Afterreachingthe
installation site, ifyou need to remove the package
and transport the product, use soft materialsto
prevent damage tothe product duringtransportation.
• Be sure to install the drain pipe accordingto the
installation manual so that the drainage is reliable.
– If the piping is installed incompletely, it maycause
waterto penetrate indoors and household items to
getwet.
• Tighten the nuts using atorquewrench according to
the specified method.
– If the nuts are tightened too tightly, theymay
break aftera long period of time, leading towater
leakage.
• Weargloves (thick gloves such as cottonwork gloves)
during installation.
– Failure to do so maycause personal injurydue to
parts.
• Do not install oroperate thefan coil unit in the
following places:
– Wherethere is a mixture of mineral oil oroilvapors
are generated, (If the oil is attachedto the heat
exchanger, it maycause performance degradation,
spraying, orscattering of condensation. If the oil is
attached to plastic parts, it maycause deformation
orbreakage to them. This mayresult in product
malfunction orwaterleakage.)
– Where corrosive gases such as sulfurgas are
present (Because copperpipes and brazed parts
maybe corroded in these places, additional
corrosion protection and rust preventive
application are required. Contact a facility
specialist.)
– Where exposed to combustible gas, carbon fiber,
flammable powder, ordust, orwherevolatile
combustion gases such as thinnerorgasoline are
used (Gases nearthe fan coil unit mayignite.)
– Where electromagnetic interferences are
generated (The control unit maynot operate.)
– Wherethe aircontains a high level of salinity,
such as nearthe sea, orwherevoltage fluctuates
significantly, such as in factories, orin vehicles or
ships,
– Where obstacles that disturb the airflow, such as
ventilation openings orlighting fixtures, are near
the product (The disturbed airflowmaycause
performance degradation orstopping of the unit.)
– Where a special sprayis used frequently.
– Do not install the product in a hairsalon orother
similarplaces because hairsprayingredients may
reducethe hydrophilic propertyin product's heat
exchange, causing condensation on the panel and
the airflowblades in the Cool mode.
– Wherefine powderis used (baking room, etc.)
– Do not use the product forunintended purposes,
such as preservation of precision equipment, foods,
animals, plants, cosmetics, artworks, etc. (Failure
to do so maycause propertydamage.)
– Where corrosive gases such as sulfurdioxide are
generated, such astoilet exhausts orvent outlets
(Because copperpipes and brazed parts maybe
corroded in these places, additional corrosion
protection and rust preventive application are
required. Contact afacilityspecialist.)
– Whereflammable gases mayleak, carbon fiberor
flammable dust floats, orothervolatile flammable
materials such as thinnerand gasoline are treated
(If gas leaks and remains around the product, it
maycause ignition.)
– Wherethe fan coil unit maybe corroded, such as
coastal areas and hot springs.

• When choosing the installation location, referto the
pattern sheet.
• Do not install the product in a placewhere a constant
temperature and humidity(yearround cooling) is
required, such as a serverroom, machine room, and
computerroom.
– Failure to do so maycause reliabilityproblems
because these places are beyond the product
warranty.
• Afterfinishing the installation, perform a test run
to confirm thatthere is no abnormality, and explain
to the customerhowto use and care the product
according to the usermanual. In addition, tell the
customerto keep both ofthe usermanual and this
installation manual.
• Before starting the installation, make sure that there
are no problemswith the product.
– Do not install the product if it has been scratched
during transportation.
• Performthe drainagework as described in this
installation manual so that condensation watercan be
reliablydrained, and insulate the drain pipe sothat no
condensation can be generated.
– Incomplete drainagework maycausewater
leakage, leading to propertydamage.
• Install the powerand communication cables of the
fan coil unit at least1 m awayfrom otherelectronic
appliances and at least 2 m away from the lightning
rod lead wires.
– However, depending on the radio wave conditions,
noise maybe generated in otherelectronic
appliances even if theyare1 m ormore awayfrom
the product.
• Install the fan coil unit at a place awayfrom lighting
fixturesthat use ballast stabilizers as much as
possible.
– When the wireless remote control is used, remote
control signals maynot be received correctlydue to
the ballast stabilizers of the lighting fixtures.

• Airmust be distributed optimally.
• The passage of airmust not be disturbed.
• Condensationwatermust be drained easily.
• The support structure must be strong enough to
support theweight of thefan coil unit. (Ifthe structure
is not strong,the fan coil unit mayfall off, leading to
personal injury.)
• The ceiling must not be significantlysloped.
• There must be a sufficient spaceformaintenance and
service.
• The powerand communication cables of the fan
coil unit must be at least1 m awayfrom electronic
appliances such as televisions. (Occasionally, more
distance maybe required.)
Reinforcingtheceiling
Make sure that the ceiling is sufficient to support the
weight of thefan coil unit. If dangerous, reinforce the
ceiling withfoundation bolts before installing the fan coil
unit.

• Forthe pipe inlet and outlet and some bent parts, cut
out and shape the insulation material in accordance
with theirshape.
• Be sure to insulate the airinlet and outlet (front and
rear)togetherwhen insulating the connecting ducts.
Step4 Installingthefancoilunit
Preparationsforinstallation
The piping thatwill be connected to thefan coil unit must
be completed before installation.
1 Check the product to install and its installation
location.
2 Check the following installation requirements:
• When the product is installed on the ceiling, check
the strength ofthe ceiling first.
• When the product is installed on the ceiling, use
the pattern sheet.
• Aftermaking the mounting hole on the ceiling,
keep the ceiling surface level.
• You mayneed to reinforce the ceiling to prevent
the productfrom causingthe upperfloortovibrate.
3 Drill holes on the ceiling orthe ceiling support, and
then insert the foundation bolts, as shown in the
following figure:
• Use bolts of Ø 9.52 orM10 size and of1.5 m orless
length.
• Install at least fourfoundation bolts so thatthe fan
coil unit can be fixed firmly.
• When the existing ceilings require reinforcement,
use anchorholes.
• Fornewceilings, use sunken inserts, sunken
anchors, orothercommerciallyavailable parts.

Installing onanewceiling
1 Place the pattern sheet onthe ceiling at the spot
whereyou want to install the fan coil unit.
NOTE
• Because the pattern sheet is made of paper, it may
shrink orstretch slightlydue to temperature or
humidity.
Takethe following stepsto install one ormore inspection
holes according to the panel type.
• Forinstallingaceilingtypesquarepanel
Install an inspection hole alongthe direction of
connection parts of thewaterpipe and the drain hose.

Install an inspection hole along direction of the
connection parts of thewaterpipe and the drain hose and
anotheralong the direction ofthe fan coil unit display.

2 Drill holes on the ceiling orthe ceiling support, and
then insert the foundation bolts, as shown in the
following figure:

3 Install suspension bolts, depending on the ceiling
conditions.
• Before hanging the fan coil unit, make sure that the
ceiling is strong enough to support theweight of
the unit. Test the strength of each suspension bolt
installed.
• Install the suspension bolts invariousways suitable
forthe type and material of the ceiling. Anti-
vibration treatment is requiredwhen the ceiling
fixing bolt is1.5 m ormore.

4 Secure a total of 8 nuts andwashersto each
suspension bolt. However, leave a little space between
the nuts intowhich the hangerbracket of the fan coil
unitwill be inserted.
• At this time, ifyou cut the stopperpad and insert
it underthe upperwasher, thewasherwill not flow
down, making the installation easier.
• Forinstallation of the fan coil unit, be sure to install
at least foursuspension bolts.

5 Insert a hangerbracket betweenthe nuts fixedto each
suspension bolt to hangthe fan coil unit.
• When installing the product, be sure to install the
piping inside the ceiling.When an existing ceiling
is used, install the piping inside the ceiling before
installing the fan coil unit.

6 Tighten the nuts to firmlyfasten the fan coil unit.
7 Adjust the position ofthe fan coil unitwhile
considering the space forinstalling the front panel.
• Removethe jig made in the pattern sheet, and then
use the jig to adjust the space betweenthe ceiling
and the fan coil unit, as shown inthe figure below.
• If not installed in alignment withthe jig, noise may
occur.
• Adjust the position ofthe fan coil unit in alignment
with the jig.
• Adjust the level ofthe fan coil unit byusing a
leveler, and then fix the unit securely.
• First, fix the front panelwith the panel fixing bolts,
and then install thefront panel so that it comes in
close contactwith the fan coil unit body.

8 Afterinstalling thefan coil unit, be sure to coverit with
the fan coil unit protectionvinyl to prevent anypaint or
dust from entering the unit until the panel isfixed.
CAUTION
• If dust orpaint enters the unit, it maydegradethe
product performance orcause product malfunction.
Step5 Purginginertgasfromthefan
coilunit
The fan coil unit comeswith nitrogen gas (inert gas)
charged atthe factory. Therefore, all inert gas must be
purged before connecting thewaterpiping.
Open the sealedtube at the end of the piping. The gas in
the piping comes out.

Be sure to check thewaterinlet and outlet locations.
CAUTION
• To prevent dirt orforeign objectsfrom getting into the
pipes during installation, purge nitrogen gas (inert
gas) immediatelybefore connecting the piping.
• If nitrogen gas (inert gas) is not purgedwhenyou
rotate and open the sealed tubes atthe end of the
piping, do not install the fan coil unit because it is an
abnormal one.

Step6 Connectingthewaterpipes
1 Purge inert gas.
• The fan coil unit comeswith nitrogen gas (inert
gas) charged at the factoryforprotection of the
unit during transportation.
Remove the protective caps from the piping to
purge inert gas.
CAUTION
• To prevent foreign objectsfrom enteringthe piping,
do not remove the cap untilthe piping connection is
ready.
2 Connect the pipes.
• Be sure to use a metal pipe forthe piping outlet.
• Be careful not to erroneouslychange the piping
inlet and outlet connections.
(Outlet: airventvalve)
• Be sureto attach avalve to each of the piping inlet
and outlet.
• Be sure to insulate all of thewaterpipes and the
drain pipe.
• The maximum operatingwaterpressure ofthe fan
coil is1.0 MPa. Designyourairconditioning system
so that the operatingwaterpressure becomes
1.0 MPa orless.
• Design the piping sothat airclogging does not
occur.
• Use Teflon tape on the T-type screws to prevent
waterleakage.
Step7 Performingthewaterleaktest
andinsulatingthepiping
1 Perform thewaterleak test.
• Make sure that there is nowaterleakagefromthe
waterpipes connected to the fan coil unit.
2 Insulate the pipes.
• Afterconfirming that there is no leakage from the
waterinlet and outlet pipes andthe drain pipe,
insulate all of them.
• First, insulate the 2wayelectricvalve before
insulating thewaterinlet and outlet pipes.
(Covered bythe installation site)
• Afterthevalve insulation is completed, insulate the
waterinlet and outlet pipes andthe drain pipe.
a Choose insulation materials suitable forthe pipes.
• Considerthe insulation thicknesses suitable for
different pipe diameters.
• The general criterionforchoosing insulation
meterials is that itwithstands less than 85%
˵ЇʒϩцɇϩߤߡঐϩʪΧʪθɇϩЇθʪࢋÃ˙˵Їʒϩцϑ
higherthan this general condition, choose one
step highercriterion from the following table:

When installing the piping in locations and
environments that meet the following conditions, use
the same insulation forthe high humiditycondition.
• Geographical conditions
– High humidityareas such as coastal areas, hot
springs, areas adjacent to a lake orriver, ridges
where part of the building is coveredwith soil
– Areaswhere morning dewoccurs frequently
(once everythree days)
• Usage conditions
– Dining rooms, saunas, swimming pools,
restaurants etc.
• Building structure conditions
– When installing the piping inside a ceiling where
there is a lot ofwaterinflowand cannot be
cooled(locations neara corridorand entrance of
a dormitoryoran efficiency apartment)
– Locationswith a high humidity due to poor
ventilation in the piping installation space
– Semi-basement rooms
NOTE
• Ifyou are unclearabout which insulationyou should
choose, choose the oneforthe high humidity
condition.
• If the use of the room is expected to be changed,
reconsiderthe insulation thickness.
• Be sureto use onlythe specified insulation materials.
b Insulate the piping.
• Incorrect piping insulation maycause
condensation on the piping surfaces ordegrade
the product performance.
• Make sure that the bent parts of the piping are
correctly coveredwith insulation.

1 Removethe caps from thewaterpipe inlet and outlet.

2 Be sure to check the positions of thewaterpipe inlet
and outlet of thefan coil unit byfinding theirlabels (IN
and OUT) attached.
• Thewaterpipe inlet label is printedwith IN and the
waterpipe outlet labelwith OUT.
• Note thatthe airventvalve is attached to the side
whereyou can find the waterpipe outlet.

CAUTION

• Be sure to insulate both the inlet and outlet pipings.
3 Before connecting thewaterpipes, be sure to install a
2-wayelectricvalve.
• Be sure to install the 2-wayelectric valve on the
inlet side pipe.
• When circulating cold/hotwater, open the airvent
valve and use a tube to receivewaterso that the
airinside the pipe and coil is sufficientlyremoved,
and then closethevalve. Failure to do so maycause
performance degradation and noise.
• Before connecting thewaterpipes., check if
thewaterpipe Flexible tube (loose nut PF 3/4")
specification is correct.Afterconnecting thewater
pipes, remove foreign objectsfrom them, andthen
circulate waterto check forwaterleakage.

CAUTION
• Be sureto install a 2-wayelectricvalve on the waterpipe

• Attach a 40 mesh strainerto the inlet piping
(Installation site area)
• If there is no strainerinstalled, foreign objects may
enterthe pipe, causing malfunction and performance
degradation to the 2-way electric valve, condensation,
orwaterleakage, etc.
• When the temperature of intakewateris higherthan

and burst. To prevent this, operate awaterpump and

• When the product is not used fora long period of time
inwinter, drain all thewaterfrom the heat exchanger
and the entirewaterpiping system.
• If both the room temperature and the piping

automaticallyopens to prevent freezing and bursting.
• Use frost preventive additives to prevent the
circulatingwaterfrom freezing in winter.
• Check if the rated flowrate is being supplied.
Lowflowrates maycause performance degradation or
product malfunction.
4 Wind Teflon tape (10 to15 times) around the threads of
thewaterpipe inlet/outlet Flexible tube of the fan coil
unit in the thread direction.
CAUTION
• When connecting the pipes, tighten sufficientlywith a
monkeywrench and a torquewrench as shown in the
figure above. Failureto do so maycause waterleakage.
• When operating the product forthe first time or
restarting it aftera long period of stoppage, open the
airvent valve of the heat exchangerand use a tube to
receivewaterso that the airinside the pipe and coil is
sufficientlyremoved, and then close thevalve.
5 Manage waterqualityin accordancewith the following
waterquality standards for refrigeration equipment:

• Ifwaterquality is not managed in accordancewith
thewaterquality standards, corrosion and scales may
develop,which mayshortenthe life of the product and
cause performance degradation and lead to a serious
product malfunction.

Step9 Connectingthedrainhose
• Drain hoses and PVC pipes are sold separately.
• Before installing the drain pipe, be sure to check if
drainage is good.
1 Connect the flexible hose to the drain port of the fan
coil unit.
• Make sure that a rubberring is assembled at the
connection port.
• Securelyfasten the flexible hose until you hear
"click."
• The position of the connection port maydiffer
depending on the fan coil unit model.
2 Fix the drain pipeto the opposite end of the flexible
hose.
• Fix the connection port of the flexible hose and the
drain pipe (PVC)with adhesive forPVC.
• Afterthe adhesive forPVC is completelyhardened,
check whetherwaterleaks from the connection
part.

• Install the drain pipe sothat it is sloped downward
(3 mm ormore) forproperdrainage of condensation
water.
• Use a cabletie to secure the connection part so
that the flexible hose andtje drain pipe are not
separated.
• Be sureto insulate the piping, contact area, and
drain pipe.

• Afterinstalling thefan coil unit, be sure to insulate the

Use a levelerto check that thefan coil unit is parallelto
the ceiling.
1 If the slope ofthe drain pipe is lessthan1/100, be sure
to install an airvent at the inlet of each drain hole to
smooth the flowof condensationwater.
2 If the drain pipe is installed higherthan the connection
port, install the drain pipeverticallywithin a distance
of 300 mm from the flexible hose connection port.

• However, because the watermayleak, the height of
the drain pipe should not exceed 550 mm.
3 Install the drain pipe at a slope of1/100 ormore.
4 Make sure that the distance between the supports is
1 to1.5 m.
5 In orderto prevent odorfrom the outlet of the drain
pipe, install a trap at the end of the drain pipe orinstall
an indirect drain.
6 Do not applyforceto the hosewhen connecting the
drain pipe.
• Make sure that the hose connection is not loosened
and as close as possibleto thewall orother
support, as shown in the figure.

Performingthedrainagetest
1 Do a leaktest at the connection part of theflexible
hose and the drain pipe (PVC):
a Connect a general hose tothe connection part of
the flexible hose of thefan coil unit, and pourin
somewater.
b Afterpouring some water, reassemble the rubber
cap on the connection part of a flexible hose of the
fan coil unit andfirmlytighten itwith a band to
prevent leakage.
c Check the leaktest at the partwhere the adhesive
forthe flexible hose andthe drain pipe (PVC) is used.

2 Check the condensation waterdrainage:
a Pourwaterinto the fan coil unit drain pan orthe
drainage port as shown in thefigures below.

NOTE

completed
• Removethe control box coverof the fan coil
unit.
• Connectthe powersupply(single phase, 220 to
240V) to the Land N terminals.
• Reassemble the control box coverand turn on
the fan coil unit.
NOTE
• When the float switch is not detected due to
insufficientwateron the drain pan,the drain pumpwill
notwork.
• If the powersupplyis directlyconnectedto the Land
N terminals, a communication errormessage may
appear.
• Aftercompleting the drainage check, turn off the unit
and disconnect the powersupply.
• Reassemble the control box cover.
b Checkwhetherthe drain pump operates correctly.
c Checkwhetherthe drainage is performing correctly
at the end of the drain pipe.
d Check forleakage at the drain pipe and drain pipe
connection part.
e When leakage occurs, checkwhetherthe fan coil
unit is level and check the drain hose connection
part, drainpipe connection part, and drain pump
connection.
f When the drainage check is completed andthe
condensationwaterremains onthe drain pan,
remove thewater.
