• Protectthepower cord. Powersupply cords shouldbe routed sothat they won't be walked on or
pinchedby objectsplaced on or against them.Payparticular attentionto cords at plugs, conve-
niencereceptacles,and thepoint where they exit tromthe unit.
• Unplugthe product from thewall outlet and disconnectthe antennaor cable systemduring a
lightning stormor when left unattendedand unusedfor long periodsof time.Thiswill prevent
damage tothe unit dueto lightning and power-linesurges.
• Avoid overheadpower lines. An outsideantenna systemshouldnot be placed in thevicinity of
overheadpower linesor otherelectriclight or power circuitsor where itcan fall into suchpower
linesor circuits. When installing an outside antennasystem,be extremely carefulto keep from
touching the power lines or circuits.Contact with suchlines canbe fatal.
• Do notoverload the wall outletor extensioncords. Overloading can resultin fire or electric
shock.
Do notinsertanything throughthe openingsin the unit, wherethey can touch dangerousvoltage
pointsor damage parts.Never spill liquid of any kind on theproduct.
Ground outdoor antennas.If an outsideantenna iscon-
nectedto the product,be surethe antennais grounded so
asto provide someprotectionagainst voltage surgesand
built-upstaticcharges.Section 8-10of theNational Elec-
trical Code, ANSI/NFPA No.70-1984, provides informa-
tion about proper grounding of the mastand supporting
structure,grounding of the lead-inwire to an antennadis-
chargeunit, size of grounding conductors,location of
antennadischarge unit, connectionto grounding elec-
trodes, and requirementsfor thegrounding electrode.
