
• Protectthe power cord. Powersupply cords shouldbe routedsothat they won't be walked on or
pinched by ob ectsplaced on or against them.Payparticular attentionto cordsat plugs, conve-
niencereceptacles,and the point wherethey exit trom theunit.
• Unplugthe product from thewall outlet and disconnectthe antennaor cable systemduring a
lightning stormor when left unattendedand unusedfor long periods of time.Thiswill prevent
damage tothe unit due to lightning and power-line surges.
• Avoid overhead power lines. An outsideantenna systemshouldnot be placed in the vicinity of
overheadpower linesor otherelectric light or power circuitsor where itcan fall into suchpower
linesor circuits. When installing an outside antennasystem,be extremely careful to keepfrom
touching the power lines or circuits.Contactwith suchlinescan be fatal.
• Do notoverload the wall outletor extensioncords. Overloading can resultin fire or electric
shock.
Do not insertanything throughthe openings in the unit, where they cantouch dangerousvoltage
pointsor damage parts. Never spill liquid-of any kind on the product.
Ground outdoorantennas.If an outsideantenna iscon-
nectedto the product, be suretheantenna isgrounded so
asto provide someprotectionagainst voltage surgesand
built-upstaticcharges.Section 8] 0 of the National Elec-
trical Code, ANSI/NFPA No.70-1984, provides informa-
tion about proper grounding of themastand supporting
structure,grounding of thelead-in wire to an antennadis-
charge unit, size of grounding conductors,location of
antennadischarge unit, connectionto grounding elec-
trodes, and requlrementsfor the grounding electrode.
