1.7 Exclusion of liability
We shall accept no liability for damages and malfunctions resulting from
defective mounting or failure to comply with this operating instructions
manual. The manufacturer shall accept no liability for damages resulting
from the use of unauthorised spare parts or accessories.
For safety reasons, invasive work on the device as well as arbitrary repairs,
conversions and modications to the device are strictly forbidden; the
manufacturer shall accept no liability for damages resulting from such inva-
sive work, arbitrary repairs, conversions and/or modications to the device.
2 Product description
2.1 Ordering code
This operating instructions manual applies to the following types:
EBW-AZ
This device is designed as single-channel standstill and
movement monitor (set-up rotation velocity / speed).
The device detects a movement signal through an external
sensor and converts this signal in accordance with a preset
limit value into a control command.
The limit value to be monitored can be set from 0.08 Hz to 1 kHz.
The output relay is invertible through a change-over switch,
in which it is energised or de-energised when the upper or
lower limit of the limit value is exceeded.
Only if the information described in this operating instructions
manual are realised correctly, the safety function and therefore
the compliance with the Machinery Directive is maintained.
2.2 Special versions
For special versions, which are not listed in the order code below 2.1,
these specications apply accordingly, provided that they correspond
to the standard version.
2.3 Destination and use
The safety-monitoring modules for integration in safety circuits are
designed for tting in control cabinets. They are used for the safe
evaluation of the signal of an externally installed frequency generator
(possible signals: PNP, NPN, Namur or tacho).
The safety function is dened as the status change of the relay
contacts 13-14 and 21-22 (Caution: the function of the relay can be
inverted through a change-over switch) when a predened limit value
is reached. The contacts 13-14 and 21-22 meet the following require-
ments under observation of a B10d value assessment
(also refer to "Requirements of DIN EN ISO 13849-1"):
– Control category B - PL b to DIN EN ISO 13849-1
– SIL 1 to DIN EN 61508-2
– SILCL 1 to DIN EN 62061
(meets the requirements of control category B to DIN EN 954-1)
When the device is used as "stand alone" equipment or in conjunction with
a second independent channel, a higher control category can be obtained.
To determine the Performance Level (PL) of the entire safety function
(e.g. sensor, logic, actuator) to DIN EN ISO 13849-1, an analysis of all
relevant components is required.
