Sanitizing a Scotsman SCN60
1. Open the door then press and release the on/o button. The green ice making
light will blink for aabout minute and then the unit will shut o.
2. Remove and discard ice from the storage bin.
3. Remove the compartment cover: remove the thumbscrews, remove the ice
scoop, and push down on the scoop holder. The cover can then be lowered and
oriented so it can be removed through the bin opening.
4. Locate the water reservoir and shut the water o using the knob or lever on the
resevoir cover.
5. Remove the water reservoir cover.
6. Drain the ice making system by removing the drain plug. Once drained, return
the plug.
7. Prepare a sanitizing solution using 1 ounce of household bleach and
two gallons of hot water.
8. Use a squeeze bottle with a neck or tube, sometimes called a “wash bottle”, to ll
the reservoir with the sanitizing solution.
9. Press and hold both the Clean/Reset and On/O buttons for 5 Seconds until the
yellow time to clean light starts to blink.
10. Once the machine starts making ice, continue to add sanitizing solution to
maintain a full reservoir. This process will take approximately 40 minutes.
11. Once half of the solution has been used, turn the water back on at the water
reservoir.
12. Once the cycle has completed the unit will turn o. Pull the drain plug and allow
the water system to drain for 2 minutes and then reinstall the plug.
13. Allow the unit to ll for at least two minutes and then pull the plug a second time
and allow it to drain for two minutes before reinstalling the drain plug.
14. Use the remaining sanitizing solution to thoroughly wash and rinse the following
ice machine components: interior bin assembly, water reservoir, curtain, ice
scoop, ice scoop holder, and door assembly including gasket and handle. The
door gasket can be gently stretched to ensure all crevices are wiped down. Extra
attention should be given to all surfaces that human contact is made.
15. Reinstall reservoir cover and compartment cover. Return scoop holder to its
original position.
16. Turn the machine back on by pressing and releasing the on/o button. The green
ice making light should illuminate.
