Application Note for SDP600 Series (SDPxxx)
Handling instructions
Summary
SDPxxx are differential pressure sensors of high quality.
For taking benefit of their outstanding performance some
precautions must be taken during storage, assembly and
packaging. Therefore, please read the following
instructions carefully.
1. Processing the sensor
Storage
Storage environment should be free from dust.
Prior to assembly or use of the sensors it is strongly
recommended to store the sensors in original ESD tray
packaging. For sensors that have been removed from the
original packaging we recommend to store them in ESD
bags.
Storage temperature shall be in the range of 0°C to 50°C
[32°F to 122°F] (-40°C to 80°C [-40°F to -112°F] for
limited time).
Assembly
Assure that the ports of the sensor are well protected
during assembly and soldering so that no dust, solder
flux or other liquids can enter the flow channel.
Please obey the soldering instruction of the datasheet.
No mechanical force should be applied to any part of the
sensor during assembly or usage. Especially, no force
shall be applied to the sensor pins.
ESD (Electrostatic Discharge)
The sensor shall only be handled in ESD protected areas
(EPA) under protected and controlled conditions (ground
all personnel with wrist-straps, ground all non-insulating
and conductive objects, exclude insulating materials from
the EPA, operate only in grounded conductive floor, etc.).
Protect sensor outside the EPA using ESD protective
packaging.
2. Application in extreme environment
Avoid any kind of liquid, fatty and oil emulsive vapors
inside the flow channel. It can not be guaranteed that in
these cases the sensors have no drift.
Protect the sensor from dust, which could enter into the
flow channel.
Make sure that in humid environment there is no
condensation, which could occur inside the sensor.
The sensor is specified for operation in air and nitrogen.
Please avoid aggressive or etching substances such as
H2O2, NH3, etc.
Application of Sensirion differential pressure sensors to
harsh environment must be carefully tested and qualified.
The user is responsible for qualification of the sensor
for use in harsh environment.
