IMPORTAMTSERVICE NOTES
Maintenance andrepairof this receiver shouldbecarried outbyqualifiedservice personnelonly.
SERVICING OF HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM AND PICTURE TUBE
When servicing the highvoltage system, remove static charge from itbyconnecting a 10k ohm resistor in
series with aninsulated wire (such as a test probe) between picture tube ground tag and high voltage lead
(AC linecord should bedisconnected from AC outlet).
1.Picture tube inthis receiver employs integral implosion protection.
2.Replace with tube of the same type number forcontinued safety.
3.Donotliftpicture tube by the neck.
4.Handlethe picture tube onlywhen wearingshatterproofgogglesandafterdischargingthe highvoltage
completely.
X-RAY
Thisreceiver isdesigned so that any X-Ray radiationiskeptto anabsolute minimum.Sincecertain
malfunctions or servicing may produce potentially hazardousradiationwith prolongedexposure atclose
range, the following precautions should beobserved.
1.Whenrepairingthecircuit,be sure not to increasethehigh voltageto more than
30.0kV (at beam 1000 uA)for the set.
2.To keep the set ina normal operation, besure to makeitfunctionon23.5 kV± 1.5kV (atbeam 800p.A),
inthe case of the set. The set hasbeen factory adjusted to the above mentioned highvoltage. Ifthere
isa possibility that the highvoltage fluctuates as result ofthe repairs, neverforget to check forsuch high
voltage after the work.
3.Donotsubstitute a picturetube with unauthorized types or brands which may cause excess X-Ray
radiation.
BEFORE RETURNING THE RECEIVER
Before returning the receiver tothe user, perform the following safety checks.
1.Inspect all leadinsulation to make certain that leads are not pinched or that hardware isnotlodged
between the chassis and other metal parts inthe receiver.
2.Inspect allprotective devices such as non-metallic control knobs, insulating fishpapers, cabinet backs,
adjustment andcompartment covers orshields,isolationresistor-capacity networks, mechanical
insulators, etc.
