1.1 Application
Automation system
The CP 4163-1 communications processor is intended for operation in the SIMATIC S7-4100
system.
The CP enables an additional connection of the SIMATIC S7-4100 to Industrial Ethernet and
PROFINET.
The CP has the following interface:
•PROFINET-capable Ethernet interface
The PROFINET/Industrial Ethernet interface (PN/IE interface) is designed as 2-port switch.
The 2-port switch allows the integration of the CP in a bus or a ring with media
redundancy.
1.2 Communication services
The CP supports the following communication services:
•PROFINET IO controller
PROFINET IO allows access to PROFINET IO devices.
•S7 communication with the following functions:
–Operator monitoring and control functions
–Data exchange over S7 connections
•TCP/IP / UDP
Communication is handled by the program blocks of the Open User Communication (T
blocks).
The following types of communication are available:
–ISO-on-TCP
–TCP native
–UDP

1.3 Further services and characteristics
•Media redundancy
Within an Ethernet network with a ring topology, the CP supports the media redundancy
protocol (MRP). You can assign the role of media redundancy manager and client to the
CP.
•Time-of-day synchronization over Industrial Ethernet using the following
configurable modes (alternative):
–SIMATIC mode
The CP receives MMS time-of-day messages and forwards these to the CPU or sends
them to a lower-level network as (time) master time frames.
–NTP (Network Time Protocol)
The CP sends timeofday queries at regular intervals to an NTP server and forwards the
time to the CPU.
Note
The time master in the rack is the CPU
Note the following fundamental behavior of the SIMATIC S7
-4100:
The CPU always synchronizes all modules in the rack.
•SNMP
The CP supports data queries using SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) in
version V1. For the supported MIBs, refer to the section Diagnostics with SNMP (Page 35).
•IP configuration
For the interface, you can configure how and by which method the CP is assigned the IP
address, the subnet mask and the address of a gateway.
•Diagnostic buffer
Diagnostic events of the CP are shown in the "Diagnostic view" of the engineering and
entered in the diagnostic buffer of the CPU.
•Detection of double IP addressing in the network
If duplicate addressing occurs in the network after a module replacement, the CPU detects
this.
Reaction of the CP when double addressing is detected: The red LED (ERROR) flashes and
an event is entered in the diagnostic buffer of the CPU.

1.4.1 Rack components
Use of multiple CPs
By operating several CPs, you can increase the configuration limits listed below for the station
as a whole.
The CPU does, however, have set limits for the entire configuration. Observe the information
in the documentation of the CPU, see /3/ (Page 49).
CP quantity
The following limits apply to the number of CPs in a station:
•Installation in the bus module
The number of CPs is dependent on the power supply:
–1 power supply module plugged
A maximum of five CPs can be plugged.
–2 power supply modules plugged (redundant power supply)
A maximum of four CPs can be plugged.
•Installation with U-connector
A maximum of five CPs can be plugged.

Open User Communication (OUC) provides access to communication over TCP, ISO-on-TCP
and UDP connections.

Notes:

The flow control on TCP connections cannot control permanent
overload of the recipient. You should therefore make sure that the
processing capabilities of a receiving CP are not permanently exceeded
by the sender (approximately 150 200 messages per second).
Maximum data length for program blocks Program blocks allow the transfer of user data in the following lengths:
•ISO-on-TCP, TCP: 1 to 32 kbytes
•UDP: 1 to 1472 bytes
LAN interface max. data field length generated
by CP per protocol data unit (TPDU = transport
protocol data unit)

–ISO-on-TCP, TCP: 1452 bytes / TPDU
Restrictions for UDP
•Restrictions UDP broadcast / multicast
To avoid overloading the CP due to high broadcast / multicast frame traffic, the receipt of
UDP broadcast / multicast on the CP is limited.
•UDP frame buffering
Length of the frame buffer: At least 7360 bytes
Following a buffer overflow, newly arriving frames that are not fetched by the user
program are discarded.

1.5.1 Hardware requirements - CPUs
Only the following CPU that can be configured in PCS neo can be used as local CPU of the
communication module:
•CPU 4168-H
as of firmware version V4.0
Note
Keep the firmware version
of the communications modules up to date

The following table shows the meaning of the various color combinations of the LEDs X1 P1 R
and X1 P2 R.

2.2 PN/IE interface
PN/IE interface
The CP is intended for operation in the SIMATIC S7-4100.
The CP has a PN/IE interface in accordance with 100BASE-TX, IEEE 802.3 with autocrossing,
autonegotiation and autosensing. This allows the station to be connected to Industrial
Ethernet.
The PN/IE interface is configured as 2-port switch. The 2-port switch allows the integration of
the CP into a bus or a ring with media redundancy.
Each port is set permanently to 100 Mb full duplex mode. Each port can be disabled
individually in the configuration.
Each port of the switch comes with an LED for simple diagnostics. For the meaning of the
LEDs, see section LEDs (Page 17).

MAC addresses
The CP is supplied with three default MAC addresses with the following assignment:
•PN/IE interface:
The MAC address of the PROFINET interface is printed on the housing
(visible in the engineering at "Accessible devices in the subnet")
•One MAC address for each of the two ports of the PN/IE interface
The MAC addresses of the ports are used in PROFINET IO operation for detecting and
evaluating neighbor and topology relationships (LLDP).
