2 Introduction
2 Introduction
The SR35iA Aperio Controller enables a communication link from the Bewator Entro to
the ASSA ABLOY Aperio™ door solutions. The Omnis security system can then
manage the door environments via the BAPSIprotocol.
2.1 Prerequisites
Following equipment are required:
lBewator Entro SR35iA Aperio Controller (RS485)
l8, 16 or 32 door models.
lBewator Entro software environment
lOmnis software environment
lASSA ABLOYAperio™ hubs (RS485)
lASSA ABLOYAperio™ door locks (wireless)
lAperio™ Key License file
lCables between SR35iA Aperio Controller and the Aperio™ hubs
lPower supplies
2.2 System capacity
Following limits applies when using the Aperio™ together with Bewator Entro and
Omnis:
Maximum number of Aperio™ hubs per
SR35iA Aperio Controller 15 hubs
Maximum number of Aperio readers
(doors) per Aperio™ hub
8 readers/doors. (Recommended by ASSA
is 4).
Maximum number of doors per SR35iA
Aperio Controller (regardless of number
of hubs)
SR35iA/8 SR35iA/16 SR35iA/32
8 16 32
Maximum RS485 cable length 1200 m
Maximum distance between Aperio™
hub and Aperio™ Reader
5 m (typical)
25 m ( at best conditions - like "free space")
Please consult ASSA Abloy for more
information).

2 Introduction
2.3 System limitations
2.3.1 Unlocking commands
Depending of the version of the Aperio™ lock the behavior of the security level
Unlocked may vary. Currently the following applies:
Version 2
The Aperio™ lock will contact the hub once an hour as default. This means that a
command to unlock (or lock) the door may become effective a time between 0 - 60
minutes.
Version 3
With this version of the Aperio™ lock, it will contact the hub at least every ten
seconds. Any commands for unlocking (or locking) will take effect much quicker.
2.4 System overview
Following picture shows the system layers. Note that three different system concept
co-operate (Omnis, Bewator Entro and Aperio™).

2 Introduction
2.5 Wirings
Basically all wiring are performed according to each of the system's documentation.
The only special wiring is the RS485 cabling between the SR35iA Aperio Controller
and the Aperio™ hubs.
Each SR35iA Aperio Controller can connect to maximum 15 hubs on the RS485 bus.
Note that the RS485 bus must be terminated in each end and this is done by setting
a DIPswitch in the actual hub.

3 Configuration
3 Configuration
The setup of an environment consisting of the three different system components
Aperio™, Bewator Entro and Omnis should be made in three separate sessions:
1. Mount the Aperio™ components (hubs and door locks) and configure these
according to the Aperio™ documentation.
2. Configure the Bewator Entro software according the section Bewator Entro
configuration [➙8] in this manual plus the ordinary Bewator Entro documentation.
3. Configure the Omnis BAPSIcommunication using the Omnis documentation.
Note 1
The number of digits in the card must be aligned and same in both Bewator
Entro and Omnis.
Note 2
Maximum number of Access group/Personal doors must not exceed six (6).
3.1 Aperio™ configuration
All setup have to be done according to the original Aperio™ documentation and using
the Aperio™ PAP Configuration tool.
The addressing of the hubs is done via DIPswitches.
The hubs communicates via RS485 to Bewator Entro and wireless to the locks.
3.2 Bewator Entro configuration
The SR35iA Aperio Controller is designed to only manage Aperio™ door
environments.
Technically the SR35iA Aperio Controller communicates with the Aperio™ hubs via
the ASSA-ABLOYDevice protocol (wired to the Local RS485 Communication
terminal). See "Wirings" on page7.
The software configuration is done in the PCwhere the Bewator Entro installation
software is installed.

3 Configuration
3.2.1 SR35iA Aperio Controller setup
To configure the Aperio™ in Bewator Entro - proceed as follows:
1. Start the Bewator Entro Installer program and log on with Username and
Password.
2. In the Controller - select the Aperio tab.
3. The system discovers the Aperio hubs that are connected to the system.
These are displayed as **CnHxx. Otherwise new hubs have to be manually
created with name and address.
4. Mark the hub and click Edit. You can also right-click and choose New,Edit or
Delete.
5. Rename the hub to a suitable name and check the address.
6. All other settings are done referring to the ordinary Bewator Entro manuals.
3.2.2 Bewator Entro card parameters
As the Omnis system uses 16 digits in the card number, the Bewator Entro system
must be configured for this.
Proceed like this:
1. Start the Bewator Entro Installer program and log on with Username and
Password.
2. Select on the menu System > System settings.
3. Click the Card reader parameters tab.
4. Click on Custom and enter Start position as 1 and Number of digits as 16.
5. Click OK and close the dialog box.
3.2.3 Configure doors
When the Aperio hubs are connected the doors can be renamed and setup referring to
the ordinary Bewator Entro manuals.
You see new doors as ** CnHyyAxxx, where yy is the address of the hub that the door
/ lock is paired with, and xxx is the address that the lock has been allocated in the PAP
software, called for the "EAC address".
Besides the EAC address each Aperio locks has an ID that is six characters long, this
is found on both the lock and in the PAP software.
Both the lock's EAC address and its ID is displayed in the Bewator Entro software.
NOTE!
If an existing Aperio™ lock is replaced, the basic addressing must be performed
again with the PAPsoftware. And the new Aperio address must be applied manu-
ally in the Door properties of the Bewator Entro program.

3 Configuration
3.3 Omnis configuration
The Omnis communication with the Bewator Entro and the Aperio™ is done via the
BAPSIprotocol. This uses the Local Area Network for sending/receiving messages
to/from the Bewator Entro system.
It is important to note down the name of the actual SR35iA Aperio Controller used in
the Bewator Entro system as it is used in the setup of the Omnis.
Please refer to the standard Omnis documentation on how to configure the BAPSIin
Omnis to link to the external system.
3.3.1 Omnis special notes when using Aperio™ doors
Name:
Must be 100% compatible between Omnis and Bewator Entro.
Card number:
Default in Omnis is 16 digits. Default in Bewator Entro is 8 digits. Needs to be set to
same number of digits in both systems. If not there will for example be problem with
the event log (8-digit in Bewator Entro and 16-digit in Omnis and a valid card in
Bewator Entro will generate “unknown card” in Omnis).
Access group/ Personal door:
Total number of Access group and Personal door on “Person” form in Omnis is 8 and
for Bewator Entro it is 6. If user enters 8 Access groups/Personal door, the last two is
not entered into Bewator Entro and will not work. Maximum number of Access
group/Personal door is 6 for Omnis with Aperio.
Access Group:
The Access group is created and edited in Bewator Entro (which door to access - and
when). Shown in Omnis as name (and not possible to edit). In Omnis it is possible to
give a Person access to Access groups.
Door:
The Door is created and edited in Bewator Entro (security levels on doors). Shown in
Omnis as name (not possible to edit). In Omnis it is possible to give a Person access
to Doors.
Time schedules:
Time schedules used in Bewator Entro (Access groups and Aperio Doors) is created
and edited in Bewator Entro.
Event/Log:
Personal and system event generated in Entro is transferred to Omnis.
Offline card:
It is possible to program the Aperio reader with up to 10 cards/codes that will work
when the readers gets offline (no communication between SR35iA Aperio Controller
and the Aperio Hub). These 10 card/codes is configured via the ASSA Aperio™ PAP
configuration tool, which is the same tool used for setting up the Aperio wireless
network.
