Introduction 1
1.1 Purpose of this document
These instructions contain all information required to commission and use the device.
Thoroughly read the instructions prior to installation and commissioning. To guarantee correct
handling, you should become acquainted with the principle of operation of the device.
The instructions are aimed at persons mechanically installing the device, connecting it
electronically, con󹪝guring the parameters and commissioning it, as well as service and
maintenance engineers.
1.2 History
The following table includes information on the di󹪜erent editions of this document.

1.3 Notes on warranty

1.5 Moisture and in󹪝ltration
NOTICE
Damage to the device resulting from moisture and in󹪝ltration
Since the original packaging of the device only o󹪜ers limited protection, moisture and
in󹪝ltration could damage the device.
• Use at least the original packaging.
• Additionally protect the device by means of further packaging if appropriate.
• Observe the associated transport, storage and environmental conditions. You can 󹪝nd
further information on this at: → Technical speci󹪝cations (Page 73).
1.6 Checking the consignment
1. Check the packaging and the device for visible damage caused by inappropriate handling
during shipping.
2. Report any claims for damages immediately to the shipping company.
3. Retain the damaged parts for clari󹪝cation.
4. Check the scope of delivery by comparing the shipping documents with your order for
correctness and completeness.

Danger to personnel, system and the environment can result from modi󹪝cations and repairs to
the device, especially in hazardous areas.
• Only carry out modi󹪝cations or repairs as described in the instructions for the device.
Failure to follow the instructions will void the manufacturer's warranty and product

• Only use devices that have been approved for use in the intended hazardous area and are
labeled accordingly.

Loss of the safety of the device with type of protection "Intrinsic safety Ex i"
If the device has already been operated in non-intrinsically safe circuits or the information on
the electrical speci󹪝cations has been ignored, the safety of the device is no longer ensured for
use in hazardous areas. There is a danger of explosion.
Connect the device in Intrinsic Safety type of protection solely to an intrinsically safe circuit.

Proper use within the context of this manual means that the product may be used only for the
applications described in the catalog or the technical description, and only in combination with
the equipment, components and devices of other manufacturers recommended or approved by
Siemens.

Due to the large number of possible applications, these instructions do not contain complete
detailed information on the device versions described, and cannot take into consideration every
imaginable case of commissioning, operation or maintenance, or of operation in systems.
Should you require additional information which is not included in these instructions, please
contact your local Siemens o󹪟ce or your Siemens partner.

Operation under special ambient conditions
In particular, before you operate the device under special ambient conditions, for example in
nuclear power plants or when the device is used for research and development purposes, we
recommend that you contact your Siemens representative or our application department in
order to discuss the type of operation.

Quali󹪝ed personnel for applications in hazardous areas
Persons who install, connect, commission, operate and service the device in a hazardous area
must have the following speci󹪝c quali󹪝cations:
• They are authorized, trained or instructed in operating and maintaining devices and systems
according to the safety regulations for electrical circuits, high pressures and aggressive as
well as hazardous media.
• They are authorized and trained or instructed in carrying out work on electrical circuits for
hazardous systems.
• They are trained or instructed in maintenance and use of appropriate safety equipment
according to the pertinent safety regulations.

2.2.6 Automatic reset
All SIPROCESS GA700 devices feature internal monitoring. When this monitoring is activated,
the standard digital outputs switch after about 4 seconds for a period of approx. 60 seconds to
"inactive", i.e. to a recognized safe operating mode. These times are valid for devices
manufactured as of 09/2017. You can 󹪝nd this information on the nameplate. It can take up to
10 seconds for older devices to switch over, and up to 100 seconds to switch to safe operating
mode.
If you are using SIPROCESS GA700 devices in critical processes, observe the following
information:
• Monitor the limits externally via the control system.
• If an option module 2.1 is installed, read out the device status via the digital outputs of the
option module.
• Use an available manual measuring range switchover instead of the autoranging.
• Only use the "Total" parameter with the "O󹪜" setting for the measuring range switchover.
• If you use the "Correction of cross-interference" and "External pressure compensation"
functions, store suitable substitute values.
• Only access the measured value via an analog output.

3.1 Overview

The 󹪝eld device consists of the 󹪝eld control unit ① and the 󹪝eld module ②. The 󹪝eld control unit
(FBG) is connected to the 󹪝eld module (FM) using a 7-meter long cable. The cable is already
preassembled with the 󹪝eld module in the delivered condition and need only be connected to
the 󹪝eld control unit to enable operation.
All electrical and data connections, as well as the connection for the 󹪝eld module, are present
in the 󹪝eld control unit. It features a keyboard and a display for LUI. It o󹪜ers space for an option
module.
An OXYMAT 7 analyzer module is housed in the 󹪝eld module. The gas connections of the
OXYMAT 7 are only located on the 󹪝eld module.
3.2 Field module with OXYMAT 7 analyzer module

The OXYMAT 7 analyzer module is built into the housing of the FM.

The following connections are located underneath the 󹪝eld module:
• Gas connections
•Factory-󹪝tted cable for the electrical and data connection to the 󹪝eld control unit.
Note
Installation/removal of the analyzer module
The analyzer module is permanently installed in the 󹪝eld module housing. The analyzer module
is not supposed to be installed or uninstalled. If necessary, replace the complete 󹪝eld module.
Contact your service technician.

Information on handling cable glands
Cable glands on the 󹪝eld control unit are secured in the factory against the ingress of undesired
particles by means of three inserts of di󹪜erent sizes. Observe the following speci󹪝cations:
• Keep the inserts even after you have connected the device
• If you no longer need a connection, block the cable bushing again with the appropriate insert.

