Socket Outlet Switch S 563
Operating the socket outlet
switch manually
¤Plug the socket outlet switch S563 into
the socket
¤Press the control button on the socket
outlet switch S563 (labelled ON/OFF).
The STATUS LED lights up if the socket is
switched on or extinguishes if the
socket is switched off.
Operating the socket outlet
switch via the handset
In order to be able to operate the socket
outlet switch S563 via a handset, you have
to first register it with the base station:
¤Press the registration/paging key on the
base station for more than three sec-
onds
¤Press the control button on the socket
outlet switch S563 for more than three
seconds but less than ten seconds. The
status LED briefly flashes moderately
quickly, then extinguishes.
The socket outlet switch S563 is now reg-
istered with the base station.
You can check the status of the socket out-
let switch (switched on or off) from the
handset and switch on and off the socket
outlet switch.
Open the GAMMA wave menu on the
Gigaset handset:
uInitiate an internal call.
sSelect GAMMA wave.
cPress the talk key.
The GAMMA wave menu is displayed.
q Choose Device status and
press §OK§.
q Choose Switch. Devices and
press §OK§.
q Choose Socket and press §OK§.
The display indicates the room to which
the socket outlet switch is assigned ("No
Room") and its status (On or Off).
To enable or disable the switch, use q to
navigate to the Status: input field and
use rto select On or Off.
Operating the socket outlet
switch simply using scenes
You can use scenes to control a number of
lights or blinds at the same time. Once you
have created the scenes, they are
arranged centrally in the main menu and
can be activated with the keys. Two scenes
are defined in the next example, which
you can use to switch on and off the
socket outlet switch.
Note:
To illustrate this more clearly, simply connect a
standard lamp to the socket of the socket out-
let switch S563.

Creating scenes
uInitiate an internal call.
sSelect GAMMA wave.
cPress the talk key.
q Choose Settings and press §OK§.
q Choose Scenes and press §OK§.
q Choose <New Scene> and
press §OK§.
~Enter the scene name Incoming
and press §OK§.
q Select a scene and press §©§.
q Choose Devices and press §OK§.
§©§Press this button.
Add Device
Select and press §OK§.
rSelect Socket and press §OK§.
qChoose the scene value On.
aPress the end call key briefly

q Choose <New Scene> and
press §OK§.
~Enter the scene name Outgoing
and press §OK§.
q Choose the scene and

q Choose Devices and press §OK§.

Add Device
Select and press §OK§.
rChoose Socket and press §OK§.
qSelect the scene value Off.
aPress and hold (> 3 sec.) the
end call key.
The two scenes Incoming and Outgoing
have now been created.
Calling scenes
uInitiate an internal call.
sSelect GAMMA wave.
cPress the talk key.
q Choose the name of the
desired scene (e.g. Incoming)
and press §OK§.
The status LED of the socket
outlet switch lights up and a
standard lamp, if connected, is
switched on.
The socket outlet switch is
switched off with the scene
Outgoing (status LED is dark
and the connected standing
lamp is switched off).
Additional devices using the
door/window contact as an
example
You can query the status of your windows
or doors with the door/window contact
and also arrange to have an alarm sent to
you if a door/window is opened.
Open the GAMMA wave menu on the
Gigaset handset:

q Choose Settings and press §OK§.
Note:
You can activate a scene in the main menu by
pressing the number button for the scene
number.

Creating a room
GAMMA wave devices, i.e. socket outlet
switches, actuators (e.g. remote control-
led switches) and sensors (e.e. door/win-
dow contacts), are assigned to the room
"No Room" in the delivery status. You can
edit the room name or assign new room
names in order to organize the devices
in accordance with their installation
location.
The next steps can be omitted if you want
to use the default room "No Room".
q Choose Rooms and press §OK§.
q Choose <New Room> and press
§OK§.
~Enter the name of the room
in which the door/window
contact is located
(max. 16 characters,
e.g. living room).
§OK§ Press this button. The speci-
fied room is now created.
aPress the end call key briefly
to jump up a menu level.
Creating the door/window contact
q Choose Devices and press §OK§.
q Choose <New Device> and press
§OK§.
~Press §Edit§, enter the device
name (max. 16 characters,
e.g. Window1) and confirm
with §OK§.
q Navigate to the input field
Room:.
rSelect the room in which the
door/window contact is
located (e. g. the room
just created).
q Navigate to the Typ: input
field.
rChoose Sensor.
§Save§ Press this button to save the
changes and confirm the
query as to whether you want
to link the device immediately
with §Yes§.
§OK§ Press this button to start the
link process. Then press the
button on the door/window
contact with a pointed object
for at least three seconds.
If the link process is successful,
this is indicated on the
handset.
Displaying the status of a door/window
contact

The GAMMA wave menu is displayed.
q Choose Device status and
press §OK§.
q Choose Window Contacts and
press §OK§.
The room in which the door/
window contact is located is
shown on the display together
with its status (Shut or Open).
aPress and hold (> 3 seconds)
the end call key.
Creating alarm messages for door/
window contacts
You can choose specific states, which are
to activate the sending of a message
(e.g. window open).

Creating an alarm dial number
In order for a message to be sent as an
SMS or voicemail to an external tele-
phone, you have to specify the dial
number of this telephone.
q Choose Alarm dial num and
press §OK§.
~Enter the dial number (include
the area code and make sure
to get an outside line if you are
using a telephone system) and
press §OK§.
Selecting a message
q Choose Window status and
press §OK§.
q Choose Send Message and
press §OK§.
q Choose the message type
(e.g. External Call) and
press §OK§ (‰indicates that at
least one message destination
is enabled for the respective
message type).
aPress the end call key briefly.
q Choose Devices and press §OK§.
§©§Press this button.
q Choose Add Device and
press §OK§.
q Select the desired device
(e.g. door/window contact)
and press §OK§.
Controlling messages simply using
scenes
Apart from controlling appliances, lights
and blinds, scenes can also activate/deac-
tivate messages or change the message
type.
Message to handsets
The scene Incoming should specify that all
handsets registered with the base station
are called if the door/window is opened.
uInitiate an internal call.
sSelect GAMMA wave.
cPress the talk key.
q Choose Settings and press §OK§.
q Choose Scenes and press §OK§.
q Select the scene Incoming and
press §©§.
q Choose Messages and
press §OK§.
§©§Press this button.
q Choose Add Message and
press §OK§.
q Choose Window status and
press §OK§.
q Choose Group Call and
press §OK§. All handsets regis-
tered with the base station are
called when a door or window
is opened.
aPress and hold (> 3 sec.) the
end call key.

To test the result of your settings, proceed
as follows:
uInitiate an internal call.
sSelect GAMMA wave.
cPress the talk key.
q Select the scene Incoming and
press §OK§.
¤Now open the door/window and dis-
connect the magnets from the window
contact.
The window status is signalled on all reg-
istered handsets.
§OK§ Press this button to confirm
the message.
Message to external phone/mobile
The opening of doors/windows is to be
reported to an external telephone or
mobile with the scene Outgoing.
uInitiate an internal call.
sSelect GAMMA wave.
cPress the talk key.
q Choose Settings and press §OK§.
Enter the destination dial number:
q Choose Messages and
press §OK§.
q Choose Alarm dial num and
press §OK§.
~Enter the dial number (make
sure to enter the area code
and get an outside line if you
are using your Gigaset via a
telephone system) and
press §OK§.
aPress the end call key briefly.
Setting up an external telephone as a mes-
sage destination:
q Choose Scenes and press §OK§.
q Choose the scene Outgoing
and press §©§.
qChoose Messages and
press §OK§.
q Choose Window status and
press §OK§.
q Choose Send Message and
press §OK§.
q Choose External Call and
press §OK§.
aPress and hold (> 3 sec.) the
end call key.
You should also test the result of these
settings:
uInitiate an internal call.
sSelect GAMMA wave.
cPress the talk key.
q Choose the scene Outgoing
and press §OK§.
¤Now open the door/window and dis-
connect the magnets from the window
contact.
The window status is reported as a voice-
mail to the external phone number/mobile
number.
You have now successfully set up the
socket outlet switch as your distributing
centre for home automation.
While you are in, any messages will be
sent to all handsets registered with the
base station. When you leave the house,
the messages are sent to an external tele-
phone or your mobile phone.
