Panel Interface Modul PIM 021
The Panel Interface Module (PIM) is an attachable CPU for SIGMATEK touch panels (TP).
This module operates with SIGMATEK HMI-LINK Generation 2 (G2.1). Transfer from the
display, as well as USB signals via Standard Ethernet cables (CAT 5e or CAT 6) from a
remote PC to a terming (up to 100 m) is therewith possible.
Currently supported: PC 452-K, HMI-Link G2 plug-in (PC 301-E7) and HMI-Link G2 Box
(PC 301-E8).
On the PC-side, a device with a generation 2.1 (G2.1) SIGMATEK HMI-Link is also
required. Either directly integrated into the PC or as an external expansion box. With the 2
integrated USB connections, external input devices (mouse, keyboard ...) or memory (USB
stick) can be connected to the HMI-side.
In combination with a SIGMATEK TP, the 2 components form a multi-touch operating panel
for visualizing, operating and monitoring automated processes. The SIGMATEK TPs are
available in various models and a can be mounted or exchanged in the field with minimal
effort.

In combination with a machine, the machine builder must comply with
EN60204-1 standards.

environmental conditions is essential.
The control cabinet must be connected to ground correctly.
To perform maintenance or repairs, disconnect the system from the
power supply.

This PIM provides a USB interface via the Panel Interface Connector. If the
TP used has newer USB technology e.g. PIM: USB 2.0, TP: USB 3.0, only

CAUTION
If the modular components (e.g. TP and PIM) are not bolted
together,they are NOT ESD-protected and can only be unpacked and
handled in an ESD-safe environment by trained personnel.

INFORMATION
It should be noted that many of the USB devices on the market do not
comply with USB specifications; this can lead to device malfunctions.
This may cause the device to malfunction. It is also possible that these
devices will not be detected at the USB port or function correctly. It is
therefore recommended that every USB stick or USB supply be tested
before actual use.

The panel interface connector connects the PIM with the TPs from SIGMATEK.
