General information
Reading and storing the
operating instructions
These operating instructions ac-
company this SonicSmile (De-
luxe) SG-986 (referred to below
only as the “toothbrush”). It con-
tains important information about start-up
and handling. Before using the toothbrush,
please read through the operating instruc-
tions carefully. This particularly applies to
the safety instructions. Failure to follow
these operating instructions may result in
severe injury or damage to the toothbrush.
The operating instructions are based on the
standards and rules in force in the European
Union. When abroad, you must also ob-
serve country-specific guidelines and laws.
Store the operating instructions for future
use. If you pass the toothbrush on to third
parties, please be absolutely sure to include
these operating instructions.

The following symbols and signal words
are used in these operating instructions,
on the toothbrush or on the packaging.
WARNING!
This signal symbol/word designates a hazard
with moderate degree of risk which may
lead to death or severe injury if not avoided.
CAUTION!

with low risk that, if not avoided, may result
in minor or moderate injury.

Proper use
The toothbrush is designed exclusively
for cleaning teeth. It is only intended
for private use and is not suitable for
commercial purposes.
Only use the toothbrush as described in
these operating instructions. Any other
use is deemed improper and may result

in damage to property or even personal
injury. The toothbrush is not a children’s toy.
Silk’n accepts no liability for damage
caused by improper or incorrect use.
Safety instructions
WARNING!
Risk of electric shock!
A faulty electrical installation or
excessive mains voltage may result
in an electric shock.
−Only connect the charging
station or charging case if the
mains voltage of the socket
corresponds to the specifica-
tion on the nameplate.
− The main cord of the charging
station cannot be replaced. In the
event of damage, the charging
station must be disposed of.
− Only connect the charging station
or charging case to an easily
accessible socket so that you
can quickly disconnect it from
the mains in case of a failure.
− Do not operate the toothbrush,
charging station or charging case if
they exhibit visible damages or the
main cord or USB port is defective.
−Do not open the housing;
instead, have a qualified pro-
fessional perform the repairs.
Contact a qualified workshop for
this. Liability and warranty claims
are waived in the event of repairs
performed by the user, improp-
er connection of the device or
incorrect operation.

−Only parts that comply with the
original device information may
be used for repairs. Electrical
and mechanical parts, which are
essential for providing protection
against sources of danger, are
located in this toothbrush.
− The charging station or charg-
ing case must not be operated
with an external timer or with
a separate telecontrol system.
− Do not immerse the charging
station, main cord, or charging
case in water or other liquids.
− Never touch the USB port with
damp hands.
− Never pull the USB port out
of the socket by the main cord.
− Never use the main cord as a
carrying strap.
− Keep the charging station or
charging case, toothbrush and
USB port away from open
flames and hot surfaces.
− Do not kink the main cord and
do not lay it over sharp edges.
− Only use the charging station
or charging case in rooms
located indoors.
− Never set up the charging station
or charging case such that there
is a risk of it falling in a tub or sink.
− Never attempt to grab the
charging station or charging
case if it has fallen into water.
In such a case, immediately
disconnect the USB port.
− Only charge the toothbrush

not insert any objects in the
charging station, charging case,
or hand piece.
− Disconnect the USB port when
you are not using the charging
station or charging case, after
the charging process, before
you clean the toothbrush or put
it away or in the event of a fault.
WARNING!
Risk of chemical burns!
Fluid leaked from the rechargeable
battery may lead to chemical burns.
− Do not allow acid from the
rechargeable battery to come
into contact with skin, eyes or
mucous membranes.
− In the event of contact with acid
from the rechargeable battery,
immediately flush the applicable
areas with plenty of clean water
and consult a physician.

Improperly handling rechargeable
batteries may cause an explosion.
−Never short circuit the recharge-
able batteries.
− Never dismantle rechargeable
batteries.

direct sunlight.
− Do not in any case open the
rechargeable batteries.

of experience and knowledge

− This toothbrush may be used
by children and persons with
impaired physical, sensory or
mental capacities or those lacking
experience and knowledge if
they are supervised or have
been instructed in how to safely
use the toothbrush and have
understood the risks associated
with operating it. Children must
not play with the toothbrush.
− Cleaning and user maintenance
must not be performed by
children.
− Keep children under eight years
of age away from the toothbrush.
− Do not leave the toothbrush
unattended while in use.
− Do not allow children to play with
the small parts. Children could
swallow small parts and choke.

− Lay the main cord so that it
does not pose a tripping hazard.
− Immediately replace worn
or damaged brush heads to
prevent injury to the mouth
and tooth area.

−Do not drop the hand piece.
If this does happen, do not
use the toothbrush any more.
Have it checked by an author-
ised service point.
− Turn the toothbrush off if you
would like to change the brush
head.
− Place the charging station or
charging case on an easily ac-
cessible, level and dry surface.
− Ensure that the main cord, the
charging station or charging case
and the toothbrush do not come
into contact with hot parts.
− Stop using the toothbrush if its
plastic parts exhibit cracks or
breaks or are deformed.

Checking the toothbrush

If you are not cautious when
opening the packaging with a sharp
knife or other pointed objects, you
may quickly damage the toothbrush.
− Be very careful when opening
the packaging.
1. Take the toothbrush and its accessories
out of the packaging.
2. Check to make sure that the delivery
is complete (see Fig.A, B and C(the
latter for the Deluxe version)).
3. Check whether the toothbrush or the
individual parts are damaged. If this is the
case, do not use the toothbrush. Please
contact the Silk’n service centre in your
area (see chapter “Customer Service”).
Basic cleaning
1. Remove the packaging material and all
protective foils.
2. Clean all parts of the toothbrush before
first use as described in the chapter
“Cleaning”.

Charging the rechargeable
battery
1. Insert the main cord with USB port

into the included USB adapter 9.
2. Place the toothbrush on the charging
station 8. The toothbrush will now
be inductively charged.

adapter into a wall socket. The toothbrush
will now be inductively charged.
You can also charge via any CE certified
device with a USB port. In this case, insert
the micro USB cable into the micro USB
port of the case and the other end into
the USB port of the device.

when brushing them.

− Your gums may bleed the first
few times you use the toothbrush.
If your gums bleed for more than
14 days, please consult a dentist.
• Brush your teeth as close
to your gums as possible.
• Brush your teeth using small
circular movements.
• Clean up to the spaces
between your teeth.
Brushing your teeth
1. Attach a brush head 1to the hand
piece 3so that the brush attachment
point 2of the hand piece extends
into the brush head.
The brush head must audibly and no-
ticeably lock into place.
The brush head must point towards the
multifunction button 4.
2. Hold the brush head in clean water
for a moment to wet it.
3. Apply a pea-sized amount of toothpaste
to the brush head.
4. Carefully move the brush head up to
your teeth.
5. Select the desired mode by pushing the
multifunction button within 3 seconds
(see chapter “Selecting the mode”).
Wait for more than 3seconds to switch
the toothbrush off.
6. Brush the upper and lower parts of
your teeth as well as the exterior and
interior of your teeth for 30 seconds
each without applying pressure.
After every 30 second interval,
the toothbrush will stop for
0.5 seconds and automatically
switch off after 2 minutes.
7. After each use, clean the toothbrush
as described in the chapter “Cleaning”.

Brushing your tongue with
the tongue cleaner (Deluxe
version)
1. Wet the tongue cleaner

and brush
your tongue with the micro bristle side in
a back and forth motion for 30 seconds.
Clean as far back as comfortable.
2. Rinse your mouth and use the scraping
side on your tongue for 30 seconds.

clean the toothbrush, charging

dishwasher. These parts would be
destroyed as a result.
− Do not submerge the charging
station or charging case in water
or other liquids.

under running water and switch
the toothbrush on.
2. Remove all leftover toothpaste from the
brush head and the hand piece

switch the toothbrush back off.
3. Pull the brush head off of the hand piece.
4. Also clean the brush head by holding it
under running water.
5. Dry the brush head and the hand piece.
Clean the charging base and/or charging
case with a soft, damp cloth and wipe it dry.
6. Change the brush head no later than
every 3 months.
As soon as the colour of the
brush head fades, change it. You
can purchase new brush heads
on our website at www.silkn.eu.
Storage
All parts must be completely dry before
being stored.
− Always store the toothbrush in a dry area.
− Use the original packaging, a similar box
or the travel charging case for storage.

If at some point it is no longer
possible to use the toothbrush,
