Precautions Regarding Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
ESD is the acronym for Electro Static Discharge.
WARNING
Do not touch the connector pins or make connections with these connectors unless
protective measures against ESD have first been taken.
Protective measures against ESD include:
• Procedures targeting limitation of electrostatic charges (e.g.: air conditioning,
humidifying ambient air, installation of non-conductive floor coverings, use of non-
synthetic clothing).

Operating instructions
• Discharging the operator’s body charge to ground connections or large-size metal
objects.
• Grounding oneself through an arm band.
We recommend all persons using this device be informed on the meaning of this warning
and that adequate training is provided on the physics of electrostatic charges, which may
build up in a dentist’s office, and on the potential damage to electronic components in the
event of contact by an electro-statically charged USER.
ESD is the acronym for Electro Static Discharge.
Any discharge implies a previous charge.
Electrical charges are generated whenever two bodies move against one another; for
example, when walking (soles of shoes on the floor) or driving (tires on the road surface).
The charge is greater in conditions of low (rather than high) ambient humidity and with
synthetic rather than natural materials (clothing, floor coverings).
The following empirical rule provides an idea of the voltages involved in electrostatic
discharges.
An electrostatic discharge:
• will be felt if it is 3,000 Volts or greater
• will be heard if it is 5,000 Volts or greater (bang, hiss)
• will be visible if it is 10,000 Volts or greater (flash).
The currents involved in these discharges are in the order of 10 amperes. These currents
are innocuous to man because they only last a few nanoseconds. 1 nanosecond = 1
billionth of one second = 1/1,000,000,000 of one second.
In the case of voltage differentials greater than 30,000 Volts per centimetre, the charge is
compensated (electrostatic discharge, flash, discharge).
It is easy to understand how the integrated circuits permitting the miniaturisation of the
electronic device in question are sensitive to electrostatic discharges.
Voltages that are imperceptible to the user can cause a current discharge sufficient to
burn the microprocessor. Damage of the single integrated circuits can cause incorrect
operation or the breakdown of the entire device.
To prevent this, it is necessary that the user is electro-statically discharged before
using the device.

✓First line: indicates the file system in use. The system can be selected using the
Function button.
Second line: indicates the file selected. The file can be selected using the Files
button.
Third line: indicates the reduction ratio of the contra-angle (default: 6:1) to the
left and the file rotation speed (associated with the contra-angle selected) to the
right. Reduction ratio and speed can be modified using the Red and Rpm buttons
respectively.
Fourth line: indicates the stop/autoreverse torque for the file selected to the left
and the morphological difficulty (Anatomy) to the right. Torque and Anatomy can
be modified using the Torque and Anatomy buttons respectively.
An: the following are the values that can be selected for Anatomy:
§E (default): easy. The file stop/autoreverse torque is equal to the
value set.
§M: medium. The file stop/autoreverse torque is equal to the value
set less 15%.
§D: difficult. The file stop/autoreverse torque is equal to the value
set less 30%.
✓In the event the user changes the reduction ratio, torque and speed on
every file, the unit saves the changes. To return to the default parameters,
simultaneously press Function and Function . WARNING: the changes
are memorised if they remain constant for at least 3 seconds.
✓ A/Rev: when the LED is on, the file inverts its rotation direction (from counter-
clockwise to clockwise) as soon as the torque set on the display is reached. Lift
your foot from the pedal and press down on the pedal again to return to counter-
clockwise rotation. When the LED is off, the file stop as soon as the torque set
is reached. When the file reaches 75% of the torque set, the unit emits an
acoustic signal.
Using the A/Rev button, torque, speed and reduction ratio parameters can be
loaded from the memory stick, which were previously personalised and saved by
the user through the Reverse button.
Insert the memory stick in the appropriate USB port on the right side of the unit.

display. For each file, the unit will present torque, speed and reduction ratio values
contained within the memory stick.
✓ Reverse: when the LED is on, the file will rotate clockwise if the pedal is held
down or if the Motor button is pressed once. This function allows the file to be
released once stopped as torque was reached within the root canal. When the file
rotates clockwise, the unit emits an intermittent acoustic signal.
The torque, speed and reduction ratio personalised by the user for each file can
be saved on the memory stick using the Reverse button.
Insert the memory stick in the appropriate USB port on the right side of the unit.
Hold the Reverse button down until a progress bar appears on the last line of
the display. For each file, the memory stick will contain the torque, speed and
reduction ratio values present on the unit at the time they are saved.
WARNING: all saving overwrites any previous saving.
✓Red: select the same reduction ratio as the reduction ratio of the contra-angle in
use. If this does not occur, torque and rotation speed cannot be ensured by the
unit. WARNING: if the reduction ratio is 1:1, the torque set is always equal to Max
(no control).
✓Torque: the torque scale is divided into 50 steps (from 0,2 Ncm to 5,1 Ncm to the
file), plus a step relative to the lack of torque control by the unit (Max torque), in
which the motor distributes all power available.

6. Use with EP-Fill (sold as an accessory)
ATR EndoPocket is able to drive the ATR EP-Fill device. ATR EP-Fill is a handpiece that
allows vertical obturation to be performed. Please consult the ATR EP-Fill instruction
manual for any information concerning the device.
✓Connect ATR EP-Fill and the pedal to ATR EndoPocket. Use the micromotor
connector to connect ATR EP-Fill. Ensure the connection is well inserted.
✓Once the ATR EP-Fill connector is connected to ATR EndoPocket, the following
screen is displayed:
✓Insert the plugger desired (see paragraph 4 Description of the ATR EP-Fill
instruction manual).
The unit can be set to 3 different temperatures: 200°C, 250°C and 300°C, which can be
selected using the Torque button.
ATR EP-Fill uses the pedal provided with ATR EndoPocket to activate the dental
handpiece heating function. Pressing the pedal activates the heating function. Keeping
the pedal pressed down allows ATR EndoPocket to reach the temperature set on the
plugger and will keep it steady over time. During the period in which the temperatures
increases, the LED on the MOTOR button remains lit. Once the temperature set has been
reached, ATR EndoPocket will emit a short acoustic signal. While the temperature is
being kept steady over time, the LED on the MOTOR button will flash and be accompanied
by a continuous acoustic signal.
Keep the pedal pressed down to complete the procedure.
If the pedal is released for a few seconds and then pressed down again, ATR EndoPocket
will begin heating the plugger again starting at its current temperature; therefore the time
needed to increase the temperature (MOTOR LED constantly lit) in this case can be quite
brief or none at all.
