Prior to installation, it is important that the installer reads this guide to ensure necessary acquaintance with this product.
This manual is intended to support educated / experienced sta󰀨 and is therefore not su󰀩cient in all details for the correct installation.
If the height in the room you are installing the Side-Power is limited, the Side-Power can be installed horizontally or at any angle in
between.
The motor must be handled carefully.
Beware to keep installation within advised measurements. No part of the propeller or gearhouse must be outside the tunnel.
The motor, its components or other joints and control cables must be mounted so that they will keep dry at all times.
We advice to paint the gearhouse and propellers with antifouling. PS! Do not paint the anodes, sealing or propeller shafts.
Do not nish the inside of the tunnel with a layer of gelcoat / topcoat or similar. It is only room for a thin layer of primer and two layers
of anti-fouling between the tunnel and the props.
When installed in boats approved or classied according to international or special national rules, the installer is responsible for
following the demands in accordance with these regulations / classication rules. The instructions in this guide can not be guaranteed
to comply with all di󰀨erent regulations / classication rules.
If no original Side-Power hydraulic system is installed, please ensure the following:
 Install an oil lter to keep the oil clean.
Fit an oil cooler or use an oil tank so that the maximum oil temperature is 43 - 50 degrees Celcius.
This thruster is supplied with a hydraulic motor only.
The rest of the hydraulic system is the responsibility of the tter/installer and must be within the limitations that are described in this
manual so that it does not damage the thruster.
It is very important to use a hydraulic valve that has ow and pressure limits that are either set within or can be adjusted to be within
the limits of the thrusters capability.
We also strongly recommend that a shock valve are tted and set to 10% - 15% above the chosen maximum pressure set in the
valve. This will prevent that the system is dammaged if the propellers are blocked by any reason.
It is also required that a device is installed to ensure that the drive direction can not be suddenly changed, as this can seriously
dammage the gearhouse. This can be done by adding an electronic time lapse / delay safety on the electric control system or by
using a valve that has this type of protection built in. The required time delay is 1 second.
NB ! Faulty installation of the tunnel, thruster or panel will render all warranty given by Sleipner Motor AS void.

The thruster should be as far forward as possible (Fig. 1)
Due to the leverage e󰀨 ect around the boats’ pivot point, it is essential for the thrusters to be placed as far forward as possible. The relative distance
di󰀨 erence from the boat pivots’ point to the thruster will determine the amount of real thrust for the boats, rotation.
Example :
A: 100kg thrust x 11m leverage = 1100kgm torque to rotate the boat
B: 100kg thrust x 10m leverage = 1000kgm torque to rotate the boat
In position A you will get 10% more thrust to turn the boat around.
The thruster should be positioned as deep as possible (Fig. 2)
The tunnel should be installed as deep under the waterline as possible for two reasons:
1. So that it does not suck air down from the surface which will reduce performance and increase noise levels.

Generally, the centre of the tunnel should be a minimum of 1 x the tunnel diameter below the waterline. This distance is an absolute minimum, the
installer must make evaluations based on thruster performance, boat type and operating conditions. It is recommended that it is at least 1.25 x tunnel
diameter () below the waterline. For best performance, the distance should be 1.5 x tunnel diameter () below the waterline. The position of the
tunnel should not be a minimum of 1/4 of the diameter of the tunnel from the boat keel.

Correct tunnel lengths depend on many factors from the hull type, operation and environmental conditions.
Tunnels should avoid being longer than 6 x the tunnel diameter as the performance reduction will be noticeable. (NB: Installing tunnels at longer
lengths consult a naval architect if added support is required for the tunnel to the hull.)
1. If the tunnel is too long, the friction inside will reduce the water speed and thereby the thrust.
2. If the tunnel is too short (typically only in the bottom section of the tunnel) cavitation problems can occur as water  ow will not have time to
“straighten” itself before reaching the propeller. This cavitation will reduce performance and create excess noise.
Thruster within the tunnel
It is important that the propellers and the lower unit/ gear leg must be entirely inside the thruster tunnel. Propellers that protrude from the tunnel will not
perform as intended.
Standard Use
Tunnel length must be long enough to ensure the propellers are not extruding the tunnel.
Flat Bottom Hull
Tunnel lengths must be longer than the standard measurement outlined within the manual to ensure a circular vacuum is not created between the
thruster and the bottom of the boat.
High-Speed Boats
Tunnel lengths must be increased to protect the propeller from damage when crashing against the water surface during high-speed cruising. The
optimal tunnel length is 3 x tunnel diameter (NB: This can include the length of a spoiler)

Tunnel installation in sailboats

Many sailboats have a racing hull which means that it can have a very  at bottomed and a very shallow draft in the bow section. It is thereby challenging
to  t a tunnel thruster the usual way,  tted as far forward in the hull as the thruster should be (Fig. 1).
However, it is possible to install a tunnel thruster in most sailboats, even when the hull does not directly support the  tting of a tunnel.
This can be done by  tting the tunnel halfway into the underneath section of the existing hull. Then strengthen it with a de ector/ spoiler directing the
water  ow around the tunnel. This will allow installation of the thruster in proper position on the boat, maintaining the reliability and space advantages of
the tunnel thruster.
This installation is being used by some of the world’s largest sailboat builders and has proven to give little to no speed loss during normal cruising. This
can also be an installation method for  at bottomed barges to avoid extremely long tunnels and large oval tunnel openings in the hull.

A possible problem in sailboats or fast powerboats is that a non-rounded surface can generate drag from the back face of the tunnel, as it creates a
“ at” area facing the  ow of water (Fig. 1).
It can also create problems with the thruster spinning (passively) producing noise while sailing or driving the boat as water is forced through the tunnel at
high speed. Water ow directed through the tunnel at high speeds, during turning or as the boat bumps waves while underway can also damage the
thruster (Fig. 4).
This problem can be solved in two di󰀨 erent ways, depending on what is possible or easier to perform.
1. The best solution which generally reduces the most drag is to make a recess in the hull at the back of the tunnel. As the back face is removed
water can  ow freely past the tunnel entry. The depth and shape of this recess will depend on the boat and the angle facing up/ down aft of the
tunnel insert in the hull depends on the hull shape. Normally it is angled slightly down because of the water  ow on this area of the hull (Fig. 2).
2. Potential damage to the thruster and drag can also be reduced, especially in fast power boats, by making a de ector/ spoiler in front and
underneath the tunnel. The de ector/ spoiler will push the water  ow out from the hull so that water passes by the back face of the tunnel. The
shape and size of this de ector/ spoiler will depend on the hull shape. The easiest way of making the de ector/ spoiler is to retain a part of the
lower forward area of the tunnel while installing the tube. Use this area as support to mould a soft curve/spoiler shape from the hull. (Fig. 3).
(NB: As a rule, you should not see the back face of the tunnel when standing directly in front of the boat looking aft.)
(NB: Remember always round the tunnel ends as much as possible to get optimum thruster performance and minimum noise.)

Rounded tunnel ends will maximise thrust and minimise noise.
We recommend rounding the tunnel connection to the hull-side as much as possible. The optimum rounding has a radius of 10% of the diameter of the
tunnel.
Signi cant advantages of a rounded tunnel over a sharp tunnel to hull connections are:
1. A rounded tunnel end will prevent the creation of turbulence/ cavitation that will come from a sharp tunnel end when water passes by fast, thereby
preventing a double negative impact on the thrust and noise level (Fig. 1&2).
- The turbulence/ cavitation will block the outer area of the tunnel and thereby reduces the e󰀨 ective tunnel diameter and thrust.
- The turbulence/ cavitation hits the propeller and will lessen the propellers performance and create excess noise.
2. A rounded tunnel end makes the thruster take water from along the hull-side, creating a vacuum that will suck the boat sideways and thereby give
additional thrust (Fig. 3&4).
With a sharp tunnel end, the thruster will be unable to take water from along the hull-side, and you will not gain the desired vacuum and additional
thrust. This “free” extra thrust in optimal installations be 30 - 40% of the total thrust.
(NB: A Side-power thruster propeller does not produce cavitation at working speed. Therefore, any cavitation and cavitation noise in the
tunnel will be caused during improper tunnel installation.)
(NB: It is essential to round the tunnel end as much as possible. If it is not possible to round edges an angled tunnel to hull connection can
also off er similar performance as a rounded connection.)

1. Find the position in the boat considering the information earlier in this manual and the applicable measurements for the thruster model you are
installing. Mark the centre of the tunnel on both sides of the hull. Drill a 6mm hole horizontally at these marks (Fig. 1). (NB: it is critical that the
thruster tunnel installed is perpendicular to the boats’ centre line)
2. Bend a steel bar as shown with the “tip” bent back set to the tunnel radius. Ensure the length of the bar runs through both holes. Mark the circle for
the tunnel opening (outside diameter of the tunnel). Cut the hole with a jigsaw (Fig. 2).
3. Grind o󰀨 the gel coat and polyester so that you are in the “real  breglass” area 12cm around the hole on both inside and outside the hull to cast the
tunnel to the hull (Fig. 3).
4. Insert the tunnel and mark its shape to  t the hull (Fig. 4). (NB: if you are installing with a defl ector/ spoiler, leave a part of the tunnel in the
front and underside of the tunnel that will cover the back face.)
5. Cut the tunnel ends to the desired shape and lightly sand its surface and clean with acetone or similar where you are going to apply  breglass.
(NB: Do not cast/ fi breglass on the area were the thruster will be placed.)
6. Cast the tunnel to the inside of the hull, use at least eight layers of 300g  breglass and resin, preferably alternating mat and rowing types of
 breglass. If you are rounding the tunnel ends to the perfect 10% radius you may need to make further layers inside to preserve the desired hull
thickness. (See next page)
(NB: Make sure that any gaps between the tunnel and the hull are completely fi lled with resin/ fi breglass. In areas where you can not access
to make normal layers of resin/ fi breglass, a resin/ fi breglass mixture must be used in that area.)

With tunnel installed and cast (Fig. 1) round o󰀨 the edges with a radius of 10% of the tunnel diameter (Fig. 1a) or make a slope with a length of 10-15%
of the tunnel diameter (Fig. 1b). If this is not possible, round the tunnel end as much as possible.
Follow the same method if making the de ector/ spoiler (Fig. 2).
We advise to additionally cast two layers on the outside of the tunnel/ hull in a 10cm area (Fig. 1c & 1d).
You must apply topcoat/ epoxy to areas outside where you have grounded/ moulded to make these areas waterproof. These areas allow water access
to the hull which is typically not waterproof without these applications outside. (NB: All original Side-Power tunnels are fully waterproof when
delivered except in the areas where you have cut and bonded it to the hull.)
If you desire to have another colour on the tunnel, you do not need to apply topcoat or the several layers of primer that is necessary on the boats’ hull to
make it water-resistant. Sand it very lightly and apply one coat of primer to make the anti-fouling sit.
(NB: Avoid all casting where the motor-bracket is to be placed, as this will cause misfi t and possible failure to the gear house.)

1. Mark the tunnel centreline and the boat’s centreline. (NB: install the gear leg and propeller(s) as shown above for the thrust direction to correspond
with the control panel. If installing a twin propeller, place gear leg with the P-mark facing port and the S-mark facing starboard.)
2. Use the gasket or template (recommended) to mark the centre of the holes and double check the measurements. One hole MUST be placed with
the boat centreline as its centre as shown above. (NB: All holes must be in-line with the tunnels’ centreline for correct installation, as the clearance
between the propeller and the tunnel is minimal.)
3. There must be no casting where the motor bracket is to be installed, as this will cause possible failure to the gear leg. The motor bracket must
installed steady on the tunnel. If the tunnel is not smooth, all bumps or uneven parts must be ground  at.
4. Drill the main-hole and then the screw-holes.
5. Fill the gear leg with oil as shown above through the hole of the oil drain screw. Ensure to insert the copper gasket and fasten after adding oil into
the gear leg.
6. Place the gear leg in the tunnel (without the propeller) with the gasket inside the tunnel. Place the propeller(s) to ensure it is in the centre of the
tunnel and rotates freely with the same clearance from each blade to the tunnel wall. If propeller(s) rotate o󰀨 centre, try to use the other or both
gaskets.
7. Apply MS Polymer sealant or equal to both sides of the gasket, and then run the gear leg shaft through the central hole in the tunnel. Install the
gear leg and motor bracket gently together. Use suited sealant to ensure that no leakages occur. (NB: See your sealant datasheet for the correct
application process.)
8. Fasten the gear leg and the motor bracket with the bolts provided. Fasten to torque as shown above.

5. Prøv girhuset i tunnelen sammen med pakning 1m.m. Monter propell
å sjekk at den er i midten av tunnelen. Hvis propellen ikke er i midten
av tunnelen, forsøk å bruk den endre pakningen, eller begge to sam-
tidig. Hvis tunnelen ikke har en jevn overate så kan Sikaeks, eller
lignende tetningsmateriale brukes for å sikre mot lekkasje.
6. Før girhuset gjennom hovedhullet i tunnelen og monter braketten og
girhuset forsiktig sammen.
7. Skru sammen motorbraketten og girhuset med orginalbolter (Fig. 3).

å sjekk at den er i midten av tunnelen. Hvis propellen ikke er i midten
av tunnelen, forsøk å bruk den endre pakningen, eller begge to sam-
tidig. Hvis tunnelen ikke har en jevn overate så kan Sikaeks, eller
lignende tetningsmateriale brukes for å sikre mot lekkasje.
6. Før girhuset gjennom hovedhullet i tunnelen og monter braketten og
girhuset forsiktig sammen.
7. Skru sammen motorbraketten og girhuset med orginalbolter (Fig. 3).

control panel
2. Use the gearhouse gasket (7) to mark the centre of the holes and
double check the measurements. It is absolutely
necessary that all holes are in-line with the tunnels’ centreline to
ensure precise installation, as the clearance between the
propellers and the tunnel is minimal to ensure best possible
performance.
3. There must be no casting where the motor bracket is to be placed,
as this will cause possible failure of the gearhouse. The motor
bracket must t steady on the tunnel, if the tunnel is not smooth,
all bumps or uneven parts must be grinded smooth.
4. Drill the holes according to Fig 1a (SE80/100) or Fig. 1b (SE130)
5 Try the lower-unit in the tunnel (without the zinc anodes and the
lower part of the exible coupling) by using the gasket inside the
tunnel. Try on the propellers to make sure they are in the middle of
the tunnel and turn freely with the same clearing from each blade to
the tunnel. Use sealant e.g. Sikaex to ensure that no leakages
occur.
6. Push the gearhouse through the main hole in the tunnel and push
the gearhouse and motor-bracket gently together.
7. Screw the lower unit and the motor-bracket together with the two
provided bolts (Fig. 3).

make sure they are in center of the tunnel and turn freely

suited sealant to ensure that no leakages occur.
6. Apply a thin layer of sealant on both sides of the gasket and
place carefully on the gearhouse, ensure no sealant gets into
the bolt holes on the gearhouse. Fig. 3.
7. Insert the gearleg through the main hole in the tunnel. Fig. 3.
8. There must be no casting where the motor bracket is placed,
as this will cause possible failure of the gearhouse. The mo-
tor bracket must t steady on the tunnel, if the tunnel is not
smooth, all uneven surfaces must be ground smooth.
9. IMPORTANT! Apply ller on surface between tunnel and
motor bracket gasket to achieve required stability for
motor bracket. Filler and primer used must be compat-
ible with tunnel and gasket material. Ensure to follow
ller manufacturer technical data regarding priming,
application and curing of the ller. Fig 3b.
10. Assemble the gearhouse and motor-bracket gently together
after ller is applied. Screw the gearleg unit and the motor-
bracket together with the 4 provided bolts. Tighten to 80Nm.

vendt styrbord for at skyveretning skal korrespondere med
kontrollpanelet. Fig. 2b.
5. Prøv girhus-enhet i tunnelen (uten propellen) med pakning
på innsiden tunnelen. Sett på og roter propellene for å sikre
at de er i midten av tunnelen og kontroller at propellene
roterer fritt med samme avstand fra hvert blad til tunnelen.
Bruk egnet tettningsmiddel for å sikre mot lekkasje.
6. Påfør et tynt lag med tettningsmasse på begge sider av
pakningen og plasser på girhuset, pass på at tetningsmasse
IKKE kommer inn skruehullene på girhuset. Fig. 3.

8. Tunnelen må ha en jevn overate der braketen skal festes,

9. VIKTIG! Påfør ller mellom tunellens overate og
pakningen til motorbraketten for å sikre fullstendig
stabilitet i motorbraketten. Bruk egnet ller for å oppnå
dette. Filler og primer må være kompatibel med tunnel
og pakning materiale. Forsikre deg om at du følger
llerfabrikantens tekniske data angående priming,
påføring og herding av ller. Fig. 3b.
10. Monter girhuset og motorbrakett forsiktig sammen etter ller
er påført. Skru girhuset og motor-braketten sammen med de
4 medfølgende bolter. Stram til 80Nm. Fig. 4.
Note! Fjern overskytende ller rundt motorbrakett.

Propeller Installation

1. Rotate the propeller shaft, so the propeller key is on top. Remove the tape holding the propeller key in its recess on the propeller shaft.
2. Insert the propeller onto the propeller shaft until the propeller key aligns into the slot/ groove in the propeller. (NB: Installation requires almost no
gap (approximately 1mm) between the propeller and the gear leg.)
3. Apply waterproof grease only to the thread where the bolt will be fastened to achieve required torque tension. DO NOT apply grease to the internal
propeller core.
4. Without the washer fasten the propeller lock-nut to the required torque.
5. Remove the propeller lock-nut from the shaft and grease the washer surface facing the propeller lock-nut.
6. Insert the washer on the propeller shaft and re-fasten the propeller lock-nut to required torque tension. (NB: Ensure the washer tab is inserted
into the slot/ groove in the propeller.)
7. Insert the two anode pins on the propeller and the anode to the end of the propeller and fasten the anode holding screw. Apply a thread glue
(Loctite or similar) to ensure that the anode holding screw does not un-screw itself from during the rotation of the propeller.

installed relative to their rotating directions.

- Grease up the surface (A) between the propeller and propeller nut (B).
- Tigthen the propeller nut (B) to given torque without
the washer (C) between
- Remove the propeller nut (B) from the treads/shaft (D)
- Grease up the washer (C) at both sides
- Re-tighten the propeller nut (B) with the washer (C) included
- Lock the washer (C) into the propeller nut (B)
- Assemble the anode (E) onto the shaft/propeller nut (D+B)

1. Vri propellakselen slik at kilen (5) er på oversiden. Smør
sjøvannsbestandig fett eller tilsvarende på propellakselen.
2. Skyv propellen helt inn på akselen. Det skal være tilnærmet
ingen avstand mellom propellens nav og girhuset. Bruk fett for
å forhindre at propellen setter seg på akselen.
Note! Propellen merket LH monteres på babord aksel og
propellen merket RH monteres på styrbord aksel (g. 2).
Sjekk at propellen roterer fritt og er sentert så mye som mulig
i tunnellen.
Se neste side for detaljert beskrivelse av propellmontering.
3. Plasser låseskiven (3) på propellakselen med tappen i
kilesporet og stram mutteren (2) med 400Nm. Bøy låseskiven
opp langs mutterens ate sider for å låse mutteren.
4. Plasser anodene og pinneboltene (1) på angitt sted og stram
låseskruene (1). Bruk gjengelim for å sikre at ikke skruene
løsner på grunn av propellenes rotasjon.

Viktig:
Sjekk at girhuset er orientert korrekt (g. 2) i forhold til
dreieretningen før båten sjøsettes
1. Turn the propeller shaft so that the key (5) is in a horizontal
position. Apply seawater resistant grease or similar on the
propeller shaft.
2. Push the propeller onto the shaft all the way in. There
should be almost no gap between the propeller hub and the
gearhouse. Use grease to prevent sticking.
Note! Fit the propellers to the shaft with the propeller marked
LH on the port side and the propeller marked RH on the
starboard side (g. 2). Turn them again to make sure the
they move freely and as much in the centre of the tunnel as
possible.
See next page for detailed description of propeller tting.
3. Place the locking/tab washer (3) on the propeller shaft with
tab aligned in keyway slot. Then tighten the hex nut (2) on the
propeller shaft to 400Nm. Bend the washer up onto the at
faces of the nut to lock the nut in position.
4. Place the anodes and pin bolts (1) in its designated position
as illustrated and tighten the anode holding screws (1). Apply
a thread glue (Loctite or similar) to ensure that the anodes
holding screw does not un-screw itself from the propellers
rotation.

- Tigthen the propeller nut (B) to given torque without
the washer (C) between
- Remove the propeller nut (B) from the treads/shaft (D)
- Grease up the washer (C) at both sides
- Re-tighten the propeller nut (B) with the washer (C) included
- Lock the washer (C) into the propeller nut (B)
- Assemble the anode (E) onto the shaft/propeller nut (D+B)

EN Montering av propeller detaljer
• Smør opp overaten (A) mellom propell og propellmutter (B).
• Trekk til propellmutteren (B) til gitt moment uten skiven (C) i
mellom.
• Fjern propellmutteren (B) fra gjengene / akselen (D)
• Smør opp skiven (C) front side, aten mot mutter.
• Trekk til propellmutteren (B) med skiven (C) inkludert
• Lås skiven (C) inn i propellmutteren (B)
• Monter anoden (E) på akselen / propellmutteren (D + B)

Montering av hydraulikkmotor og kobling

Referer til illustrasjonene Fig 1a og 1b
1. Plasser nederste del av den eksible koblingen (5) på
kileporet på girhusakselen. Ikke stram til.
2. Monter øvre motorbrakett (2) til nedre del (1) med de 8
medfølgende bolter (4) og låseskiver(3). Trekk til med 86Nm
3. Plasser koblingens gummi/plastdel (6) på nederdelen(5)
4. Monter koblingens øvre del (7) på hydraulikkmotorens (10)
aksel og stram festeskruen lett slik at den ikke faller av, men
fremdeles kan beveges.
5. Plasser hydraulikkmotoren (10) på den øvre braketten (2).
Kontroller at koblingens deler går i inngrep. Dette gjøres
enklest ved å dreie motoren om dens vertikale akse.
6. Sentrer koblingens deler mellom girhuset og motorens ens i
henhold til Fig. 1b
7. Når koblingen er sentrert, fjern motoren (10) og stram
settskruen på koblingens øvre del med følgende moment:
Nav med kilespor - 67Nm, Nav med splines, SH1000 - 67Nm,
Nav med splines, SH1400 - 120Nm
8. Løft den nederste delen av koblingen slik at den ligger tett
opptil plast/gummidelen (6). NB: Koblingen må ikke utsettes
for aksiell last.
9. Stram til settskruene på koblingens nedre del (5) med 25Nm
10. Roter propellene for hånd for å sjekke at koblingen roterer fritt.
Trekk til motorbolter til 100Nm.
I visse tilfeller (ved grunne installasjoner, ske / arbeidsfartøy)
anbefaler vi å beskytte propell og girhus ved å montere et gitter foran
tunnelåpningene (Fig. 2). Det er da meget viktig å beholde strømlin-
jeformen, og å begrense gitteret til et minimum. Feil installasjon kan
begrense skyvekraften med 15%
NB ! Påfør bunnsto󰀨 på girhus og propell for å unngå vekst som
kan virke sterkt hemmende på thrusterens e󰀨ekt. Anoder,
propellaksling og tetninger skal ikke sto󰀨es.
Refer to the illustrations Fig 1a & 1b
1. Insert the lower coupling hub (5) onto the key way of the gear
housing drive shaft. Do not tighten at this stage.
2. Mount the upper bracket (2) to the lower bracket (1) with the 8
securing bolts (4) and lock washers (3).Torque load to 86 Nm.
3. Place the coupling rubber/hard plastic spider (6) onto the
lower hub (5).
4. Insert the upper coupling hub(7) onto the motor(10) shaft and
lightly tighten its set screw, ensuring it maintains its position
but still can be moved on the shaft.
5. Place the hydraulic motor (10) onto the upper bracket (2)
ensuring the coupling hubs and spider engage. This can be
achieved by simply rotating the motor (10) around its vertical
axis.
6. Gain access to the coupling assembly through a upper
bracket (2) side opening. Adjust to centralize the exible
coupling assembly between the gear housing and hydraulic
motor ange. Refer to illustration Fig 1b.
7. With the nal position of the upper coupling hub(7)
established, remove the motor (10) and torque load the upper
coupling(7) set screw to; Key way hub - 25Nm, Splined hub
SH1000 - 67Nm, splined hub SH1400 - 120 Nm.
8. Gain access through a side opening of the upper bracket(2)
and lift the lower coupling hub(5) so it ts rmly against the
coupling spider(6). NB. The exible coupling must not be
subject to a axial load.
9. Torque load lower coupling key way hub (5) set screws to 25
Nm. Tighten motor bolts to 100Nm.
10. Rotate the propellers by hand and check the exible coupling
assembly for complete range & freedom of movement.
In some cases (shallow installation or workboat / shin boat only) we
recommend to protect the propeller by mounting a grid in the tun-
nel opening (Fig. 2). It is important to keep a grid to a minimum
and as streamlined for the thrusters waterow as possible, as it
can decrease the e󰀨ect of the thrusters up to 15%.
NB ! Paint the gearhouse and propeller with antifouling for pro-
pellers to prevent growth of barnacles or similar which would
reduce the performance dramatically. Do not paint the pro-
peller shaft, the anodes or the end face of the gearhouse.

Einbau des Hydraulikmotors
D
1. Die 4 Bolzen in der Motorhalterung enfernen.
2. Die Antriebsachse im Getriebegehäuse und die Motorachse
so drehen, daß die elastische Kupplung dazwischen paßt.
Die Befestigungsschrauben im unteren Teil der elastischen
Kupplung lösen. Den Gummiring ganz in den unteren Teil der
elastischen Kupplung einschieben.
3. Den Motor mit seiner Adapterplatte vorsichtig auf die Antriebs-
achse und die Motorhalterung aufsetzen.
Den Motor mit Adapterplatte auf die Motorhalterung stezen.
Der Gummiring muß sich dabei ganz in den oberen Teil der
elastischen Kupplung schieben.
4. Mit den 4 Bolzen Motor und Motorhalterung lose
verschrauben.
5. Mit den 4 Bolzen Motor/Adapterplatte und Motorhalterung
verschrauben. Anzugsmoment: 33 Nm (24 lb/ft)
6. Den Gummiring ganz in den unteren Teil der elastischen
Kupplung einschieben und zusammen in den oberen Teil
der elastischen Kupplung schieben. Der Gummiring muß
vollkommen im oberen Teil sitzen, darf aber nicht zusammen
gequetscht sein (17 mm). Den unteren Teil mit den beiden
Befestigungsschrauben in neuer Position festschrauben.
7. Überprüfen Sie, ob die beiden Bolzen, die den Motor an der
Adapterplatte befestigen, mit 17 Nm. festgezogen sind.
Wir empfehlen auf die Befestigungsschraube im unteren Teil
der elastischen Kupplung Locktite o.ä. aufzutragen. Die obere
Befestigungsschraube ist bereits mit Locktite befestigt.
8. Überprüfen, ob sich die Propeller frei im Tunnel drehen
lassen. Aufgrund der Getriebeübersetzung und des Motors
sollte das Systemdies etwas schwergängig sein.
9. Installieren Sie einen Drainageschlauch.
In manchen Fällen, z.B. bei achem Rumpf oder im gerwerblichen
Einsatz (z.B. Fischfang) empfehlen wir, den Propeller durch
ein Gitter vor der Tunnelöffnung zu schützen (Fig. 1). Dieses
sollte auf ein Minimum beschränkt und so stromlinienförmig
wie möglich sein, da die Leistung des Thrusters bis zu ca. 10%
reduziert wird.
NB ! Wir empfehlen, auf das Getriebegehäuse Anti-Fouling
aufzutragen. Nicht auf die Propellerachse, Zinkanoden oder
den Verschluß des Getriebegehäuses auftragen.
1. Remove the 4 bolts in the motorbracket.
2. Turn the driveshaft in the gearhouse and the motorshaft so
the key in the shaft and the keyway in the exible coupling are
in-line.
3. Slide the motor with its pretted adaptor plate and pretted
exible coupling onto the driveshaft and the motor bracket
gently.
4. Fasten the motor loosely to the bracket with the provided
bolts.
5. Fasten the adaptor plate rmly to the bracket with the
provided screws. Tighten the screws with a torque of 33 Nm
(24 lb/ft).
7. Check the bolts holding the hydraulic motor to its adaptor
plate by tightening them with a torque of 17 (12,4lb/ft) Nm.
8. Check the system by turning the propeller, it will be a little
hard to turn (because of the gear reduction and the motor),
but you should be able to turn it by hand.
9. Make sure to install the drain hose.
In some cases (shallow installation or workboat / shingboat only)
we recommend to protect the propeller by mounting a grid in the
tunnel opening (Fig. 1). It is important to keep a grid to a mini-
mum and as streamlined for the thrusters waterow as possible,
