(SMC2336W-AG) from SMC employs the latest design and technology from Atheros.
SMC2336W-AG lets your notebook computer connect to any available 802.11a, 802.11b
or 802.11g wireless networks. Now you only need to carry this one Universal Wireless
Cardbus Adapter and it works everywhere – whether at the office, at home, or at
“hotspot” locations such as hotels, airports, trade shows, conference centers! It is the
ultimate in mobility and flexibility in wireless networking.
The EZ-Stream™ Universal 802.11a/b/g Wireless Cardbus Adapter includes an EZ
Installation Wizard that makes set-up quick and easy. Simply put the EZ Installation
Wizard CD into your CD-ROM drive, click on Install Driver/Utility Link, the wizard will
perform the installation automatically. Then plug in your EZ Connect Universal
Wireless Cardbus Card into the PCMCIA slot of your laptop, you are now free to con-
nect to virtually any 802.11 network. The SMC2336W-AG 802.11a/b/g Wireless Cardbus
Adapter operates at up to 1,700 feet and offers high-speed data rates of up to 54Mbps
in 802.11g mode, and up to 108Mbps in 802.11a Turbo mode - 10 times faster than
today’s 802.11b 11 Mbps WLAN products. This adapter also provides advanced securi-
ty by supporting up to 152-bit WEP encryption, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES),
the new Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), and 802.1x for user authentication and author-
ization. Profile management software allows the new wireless notebook adapter the
ability to save multiple wireless settings corresponding to different locations or net-
works, for example one for home and one for work. In addition, SMC2336W-AG has a
built-in site-survey utility program for scanning all available Wireless Access Points on
the network. Furthermore, the utility program has a built-in bandwidth graph for quick
and easy assessment of how much network bandwidth is actually being used on your
PC. Above all, the new addition to the SMC’s wireless family protects your investment,
as it is backward compatible to the already popular 2.4GHz 11Mbps wireless network.
