Storage Server
The Barricade is an ideal all-in-one networking solution
for home and small business users. This platform-
independent multi-functional broadband storage server
is combined with a 7-port 10/100Mpbs dual-speed
switch, and features a built-in print server and network
file sharing as well as an internet firewall for enhanced
security against hackers and other unauthorised users.
An integrated RS232 port provides back-up dial-up
capability via an external 56K modem if your Cable or
DSL connection goes down.
Its built-in 20GB hard drive is a major benefit, as it
enables additional network storage within the LAN. The
Barricade provides a WAN port as well as a Network
Address Translation (NAT), which extends simultaneous
Internet access for up to 253 PCs on the LAN. In addition,
this new Barricade offers content filtering which allows a
home or small office user to define which websites the
rest of the LAN is allowed to visit.
The SMC7208SBR is a truly all-in-one solution in that it
integrates five vital products within a network (a print
server, a router, a Network Attached Storage unit (NAS),
a switch and an external modem port) all into one
physical product. This new device is a complete
networking solution for PC and MAC users, and is
backed up by SMC’s limited lifetime warranty.
