SMC’s TigerSwitch 10/100, SMC6724L3, performs Layer
2 switchi g a d IP-based Layer 3 routi g i the same box.
It i cludes 24 fixed auto-MDIX 10/100BASE-TX ports a d
2 slots o the rear pa el that accepts optio al 100BASE-
FX or 1000BASE-X module. This TigerSwitch is desig ed to
i tegrate etwork sub ets a d VLANs seamlessly,
augme ti g or completely replaci g slow legacy routers,
a d providi g the required throughput for today’s web-
based i tra et traffic flow.
The SMC6724L3 also comes fully-loaded with adva ced
performa ce-e ha ci g features: GMRP a d IGMP
mai tai available ba dwidth by limiti g multicast packet
tra smissio s to subscribers o ly. DVMRP multicast
routi g ca sig ifica tly co serve ba dwidth by
mi imisi g packet replicatio across the etwork. QoS
priority queui g e sures a mi imum delay for real-time
multimedia data across the etwork, while port-based a d
tagged VLANs with support for GVRP are also i cluded to
provide traffic security a d efficie t use of etwork
ba dwidth. With a host of adva ced features a d
comprehe sive ma ageme t capabilities, this device is a
stro g solutio for etwork core with the flexibility to be
i tegrated i to existi g etwork i frastructure.
