Precautions
Before using the Bluetooth USB adapter, observe the following
precautions:
•This product can be used with Sony VAIO notebooks running the
Windows XP operating system. It cannot be used with models that have
integrated Bluetooth functions.
•In an aircraft and in other locations where radio emissions may be a
problem, remove the Bluetooth USB adapter from the computer. Shutting
down the software does not stop the emission of radiowaves from the
unit.
•You can use only one Bluetooth USB adapter per computer.
•Install the Bluetooth USB adapter only in a USB port built into your
computer. If installed in a USB port on a hub, the Bluetooth USB adapter
may not function correctly.

Setting up a Bluetooth connection
Before the Bluetooth USB adapter can be used for communication with a
Bluetooth enabled device, follow these instructions to set up the Bluetooth
USB adapter.
Install Windows XP Service Pack 2. (If your computer already
has Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later installed, skip this
step.)
If you have not installed Windows XP Service Pack 2, you will need to download
and install it from the Microsoft web site (http://www.microsoft.com/).
To determine whether Windows XP Service Pack 2 is installed on your computer,
click the Windows “start” button and select “Control Panel.” Click “Performance
and Maintenance” and then “System” in the Control Panel. The “System Properties”
dialog box appears. Click the “General” tab in the dialog box. If “Service Pack 2”
appears, Windows XP Service Pack 2 is installed.
Insert the Bluetooth USB adapter into the USB port of your
computer.
The driver is automatically installed.
If necessary, install software on target device.
Depending on the target device, you may need to install software to enable
communication with the Bluetooth USB adapter. For details, refer to the
documentation of the target device.
Note
Depending on your computer model, after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2, the
following message may appear: “A device or application is disabled. ’YAMAHA AC-XG
WDM Audio Device’ may cause Windows system to become unstable. This driver was
not loaded. Please click here for details.” If this message appears, see the
“Troubleshooting” section of the Operating Instructions.

Checking Driver Installation
1Click “start,” and select “Control Panel.”
2Click “Performance and Maintenance.”
3Click “System.”
4Click “Device Manager” on the “Hardware” tab.
5Double-click “Bluetooth Radios,” and verify that “Microsoft
Bluetooth Enumerator” and “Sony Bluetooth USB Adapter”
are displayed.
6Double-click “Network adapters,” and verify that “Bluetooth
Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)” and “Bluetooth Device
(Personal Area Network)” are displayed.

Adapter
Your Bluetooth USB adapter enables you to connect wirelessly to a wide
range of Bluetooth capable devices to share files, connect to the Internet,
and print documents.
•Exchange files between computers
•Synchronize data and exchange files with a PDA
•Exchange files with a cellular phone
•Connect to the Internet with a cellular phone
•Use a Bluetooth wireless mouse or keyboard
•Print to a Bluetooth printer
•Set up a Bluetooth Modem Station (Europe only)
•Connect to the Internet with a Bluetooth Modem Station (Europe only)
•Connect to Internet Protocol-based networks.

Connecting a Bluetooth device
Turn on the computer, and insert the Bluetooth USB adapter
into the USB port.
Click “start” on the windows taskbar, and select “Control
Panel.”
The Control Panel appears.
Click “Network and Internet Connections,” and click “Bluetooth
Devices.”
The “Bluetooth Devices” window appears.
To connect to a device that does not appear on the list on the
“Devices” tab, click “Add.”
If the device already appears on the list, it is ready for communications.
Follow the Wizard instructions to make the connection.
Perform any other steps needed for the particular Bluetooth
device.
For details, refer to the Windows XP Help.
The connection process is now complete. Some Bluetooth devices may
require special software applications. For details, see the manuals provided
with the target Bluetooth device.

Transmitting and receiving files
Turn on the computer, and plug the Bluetooth USB adapter into
a USB port.
Click “start” on the Windows taskbar, click “All programs,”
“Accessories,” and “Communications,” and then click
“Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard.”
Follow the wizard to set up the connection.
For details, refer to the Windows XP Help.
Connecting to a network with Bluetooth functionality
Turn on the computer, and plug the Bluetooth USB adapter into
a USB port.
Click “start” on the Windows taskbar, select “Control Panel,”
“Network and Internet Connections,” and “Network
Connections,” and then double-click “Bluetooth Network
Connection.” The “Bluetooth Personal Area Network Devices”
screen appears.
To connect to a Bluetooth device that is not displayed, click
“Add.”
To connect to a displayed Bluetooth device, select the device’s
icon, and click “Connect.”
Follow the wizard to set up the connection.

Précautions
Avant d’utiliser l’adaptateur USB Bluetooth, lisez le feuillet relatif aux
règles de sécurité et respectez les précautions suivantes:
•Ce produit peut être utilisé avec les ordinateurs portables VAIO de Sony
fonctionnant sous le système d’exploitation Windows XP. Il n’est pas
compatible avec des modèles dotés de fonctions Bluetooth intégrées.
•Lorsque vous vous trouvez dans un avion où dans un endroit où les
émissions radio peuvent poser un problème, retirez l’adaptateur USB
Bluetooth de l’ordinateur. Quitter le logiciel ne suffit pas pour empêcher
l’émission d’ondes radio depuis l’ordinateur.
• Un seul USB Bluetooth peut être utilisé par ordinateur.
•Installez l’adaptateur USB Bluetooth sur un port USB intégré à
l’ordinateur uniquement. S’il est installé sur le port USB d’un
concentrateur (hub), le bon fonctionnement de l’adaptateur USB
Bluetooth n’est pas garanti.

Configuration d’une connexion
Bluetooth
Avant de pouvoir utiliser l’adaptateur USB Bluetooth pour communiquer
avec un appareil compatible Bluetooth, suivez les instructions suivantes
pour configurer l’adaptateur USB Bluetooth.
Installez le Service Pack 2 pour Windows XP (si le Service Pack
2 pour Windows XP ou une version ultérieure est déjà
installé(e) sur votre ordinateur, ignorez cette étape).
Si vous n’avez pas installé le Service Pack 2 pour Windows XP, vous devrez le
télécharger et l’installer à partir du site web Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/).
Pour savoir si le Service Pack 2 pour Windows XP est installé sur votre ordinateur,
cliquez sur la touche « démarrer » de Windows et sélectionnez « Panneau de
configuration ». Cliquez sur « Performances et maintenance », puis sur « Système »
dans le Panneau de configuration. La boîte de dialogue « Propriétés système »
apparaît. Cliquez sur l’onglet « Général » dans la boîte de dialogue. Si « Service
Pack 2 » apparaît, Service Pack 2 pour Windows XP est installé.
Insérez l’adaptateur USB Bluetooth dans le port USB de
l’ordinateur.
Le pilote est automatiquement installé.
Si nécessaire, installez le logiciel sur le périphérique cible.
En fonction de l’appareil cible, il est possible que vous deviez installer le logiciel
afin de permettre la communication avec l’adaptateur USB Bluetooth. Pour de plus
amples détails, reportez-vous au manuel fourni avec appareil cible.
Remarques
Selon le modèle de votre ordinateur, une fois l’installation du Service Pack 2 pour Windows
XP terminée, il est possible que le message suivant apparaisse : « Un périphérique ou une
application est désactivé(e). Le périphérique audio YAMAHA AC-XG WDM peut rendre
Windows instable. Le pilote n’a pas été chargé. Cliquez ici pour plus de détails. » Si ce
message s’affiche, reportez-vous à la section « Guide de dépannage » du mode d’emploi.

Vérification de l’installation du pilote
1Cliquez sur « démarrer », puis sélectionnez « Panneau de
configuration ».

Matériel ».
5Double-cliquez sur « Bluetooth Radios », et vérifiez que «
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator » et « Sony Bluetooth USB
Adapter » sont affichés.
6Double-cliquez sur « Network adapters » et vérifiez que «
Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI) » et « Bluetooth
Device (Personal Area Network) » sont affichés.

Raccordement d’un périphérique Bluetooth
Mettez l’ordinateur sous tension et insérez l’adaptateur USB
Bluetooth dans le port USB.
Cliquez sur « démarrer » dans la barre des tâches Windows,
puis sélectionnez « Panneau de configuration ».
Le panneau de configuration apparaît.
Cliquez sur « Connexions réseau et Internet », puis sur
«Périphériques Bluetooth ».
La fenêtre « Périphériques Bluetooth » apparaît.
Pour raccorder un périphérique n’apparaissant pas dans la
liste de l’onglet « Périphériques », cliquez sur « Ajouter ».
Si le périphérique apparaît déjà dans la liste, il est prêt à communiquer.
Suivez les instructions de l’assistant pour réaliser la
connexion.
Exécutez toute autre étape requise pour le périphérique
Bluetooth spécifique.
Pour plus de détails, reportez-vous à l’Aide de Windows XP.
Le processus de connexion est maintenant terminé. Certains périphériques
Bluetooth peuvent nécessiter l’utilisation d’applications logicielles
spéciales. Pour de plus amples détails, reportez-vous au manual du
périphérique Bluetooth cible.

Transmission et réception de fichiers
Mettez l’ordinateur sous tension et branchez l’adaptateur USB
Bluetooth à un port USB.
Cliquez sur « démarrer » dans la barre des tâches Windows,
cliquez sur « Tous les programmes », « Accessoires » et sur «
Communications », cliquez ensuite sur « Assistant Transfert de
fichiers Bluetooth ».
Suivez l’assistant pour configurer la connexion.

Raccordement à un réseau doté de fonctionnalités Bluetooth
Mettez l’ordinateur sous tension et branchez l’adaptateur USB
Bluetooth à un port USB.
Cliquez sur « démarrer » dans la barre des tâches Windows,
sélectionnez « Panneau de configuration », « Connexions
réseau et Internet » et « Connexions réseau », puis double-
cliquez sur « Bluetooth Network Connection ». L’écran «
Périphériques réseau personnel Bluetooth » apparaît.

cliquez sur « Ajouter ».
Pour raccorder un périphérique Bluetooth qui apparaît,
sélectionnez l’icône du périphérique et cliquez sur « Connecter ».

Sicherheitsmaßnahmen
Bevor Sie den Bluetooth USB-Adapter benutzen, lesen Sie das Beiblatt mit
den Sicherheitsvorschriften und beachten Sie die folgenden
Vorsichtsmaßregeln:
• Dieses Produkt kann mit VAIO-Notebooks von Sony, die unter dem
Betriebssystem Windows XP laufen, eingesetzt werden. Es lässt sich
nicht zusammen mit Modellen mit integrierten Bluetooth-Funktionen
verwenden.
• In Flugzeugen und an anderen Orten, an denen Funkwellen ein Problem
darstellen können, nehmen Sie den Bluetooth USB-Adapter aus dem
Computer. Das Herunterfahren der Software allein reicht nicht aus, um
die Emission von Funkwellen vom Gerät zu stoppen.
•Sie können nur einen Bluetooth USB-Adapter pro Computer verwenden.
•Setzen Sie den Bluetooth USB-Adapter ausschließlich in einen in den
Computer eingebauten USB-Anschluss ein. Wenn Sie den Bluetooth
USB-Adapter in einen USB-Anschluss an einem Hub einsetzen,
funktioniert er möglicherweise nicht ordnungsgemäß.

Einrichten einer Bluetooth-
Verbindung
Bevor Sie den Bluetooth USB-Adapter für die Kommunikation mit einem
Bluetooth-fähigen Gerät verwenden können, müssen Sie ihn wie im
Folgenden erläutert konfigurieren.
Installieren Sie Windows XP Service Pack 2. Wenn Windows XP
Service Pack 2 oder höher bereits auf dem Computer installiert
ist, lassen Sie diesen Schritt aus.
Wenn Windows XP Service Pack 2 noch nicht installiert wurde, müssen Sie es von
der Microsoft-Website (http://www.microsoft.com/) herunterladen und installieren.
Um festzustellen, ob das Windows XP Service Pack 2 bereits auf Ihrem Computer
installiert ist, klicken Sie unter Windows auf „Start“ und wählen Sie
„Systemsteuerung“. Klicken Sie in der Systemsteuerung auf „Leistung und
Wartung“ und dann auf „System“. Das Dialogfeld „Systemeigenschaften“ erscheint.
Klicken Sie im Dialogfeld auf die Registerkarte „Allgemein“. Wenn „Service Pack
2“ angezeigt wird, ist Windows XP Service Pack 2 installiert.
Schieben Sie den Bluetooth USB-Adapter in einen USB-
Anschluss Ihres Computers.
Der Treiber wird automatisch installiert.
Installieren Sie gegebenenfalls Software auf dem Zielgerät.
Je nach dem Zielgerät müssen Sie möglicherweise Software installieren, um die
Kommunikation mit dem Bluetooth USB-Adapter zu ermöglichen. Einzelheiten
dazu finden Sie in der Dokumentation zum Zielgerät.
Hinweis
Je nach Computermodell wird nach der Installation von Windows XP Service Pack 2
möglicherweise die folgende Meldung angezeigt: „Ein Gerät oder eine Anwendung ist
deaktiviert. ‚YAMAHA AC-XG WDM Audio Device’ bewirkt möglicherweise, dass
Windows instabil wird. Dieser Treiber wurde nicht geladen. Klicken Sie hier, um Details
anzuzeigen. “ Wenn diese Meldung angezeigt wird, schlagen Sie im Abschnitt
„Fehlerbehebung“ in der Bedienungsanleitung nach.
