Changes after updating the software to Android 13
In addition to the update of the software to Android 13, some changes are also made to the existing functions. The
following are some of the major changes after updating your device to Android 13.
This Help Guide does not describe all Android 13 features and functions. Some features, functions, settings, and
elements of the screen design may differ from the content of this Help Guide after updating your device to Android 13.
Sharing audio with multiple devices (Bluetooth LE Audio)
The group feature of Bluetooth LE Audio enables you to pair and set devices as a group if the devices support the
feature.
The [Audio Sharing] function of Bluetooth LE Audio enables you to broadcast audio to multiple headphones
simultaneously.
Refer to the appropriate topic listed in “Related Topic” for details.
LE Audio will be made available through another software update after the Android 13 update in some regions and
countries.
New lock screen
The following icons are displayed on the lock screen. You can quickly access each feature from the lock screen by
touching and holding the icons.
(Wallet button) will be displayed if you install an NFC payment app and configure the appropriate settings.
You can display or hide (Wallet button) on the lock screen. Find and tap [Settings] > [Display] > [Lock screen], and
then tap the [Show wallet] switch.
(Device controls button) will be displayed on the lock screen if you install a device control app and configure the
appropriate settings.
You can display or hide (Device controls button) on the lock screen. Find and tap [Settings] > [Display] > [Lock
screen], and then tap the [Show device controls] switch.

Hint
You can control a connected external device without unlocking your device. Find and tap [Settings] > [Display] > [Lock screen],
and then tap the [Control from locked device] switch to enable the function.

Swipe down twice from the top of the screen to open the Quick settings panel.

Checking active apps (B)
Tap to display active apps that might affect battery life even if you are not using them. You can select a running app and
stop it. Not all apps can be stopped.

Tap (Settings icon) to open the Settings menu.
Tap (Power menu button) to open the Power menu.
Wallpaper & style
You can change the system accent color to match the selected wallpaper.
Note
[Dynamic color] under [Settings] > [Display] is no longer available.

Zooming seamlessly in the BASIC (Basic) mode
In the Quick settings panel, swipe left or right to find (Scan QR code) (A), and then tap it.1.
Touch and hold an empty area on the Home screen, and then tap [Wallpaper & style].
You can select the desired colors or settings on the [Wallpaper & style] settings screen.

You can seamlessly zoom in and out without switching lenses, not only while recording a video, but also while taking a
photo.
Change in the display method for QR Code scanning results
The display method for QR Code scanning results has changed from a notification to a banner.
Point the camera at the QR Code, and then tap the banner that appears in the viewfinder.
Note
QR Code notifications are no longer displayed in the notification panel.
New features of Game enhancer
Game mode
On the [Game mode] screen, you can optimize your device for gaming and check the condition of your device to help
you improve your gaming experience.
Hint
In the [Performance preferred], [Balanced], or [Battery life preferred] mode, grayed-out settings are automatically applied
adjusted values and cannot be changed. To create your ideal gaming conditions by fine-tuning all settings, select [Custom].
Tap (Show details button) in the upper right of the [Game mode] screen to view descriptions of modes and settings.
The settings for [H.S. power control], [Release RAM], and [Optimize touch area] are shared among modes. You can change the
settings for each game.
Changes to Xperia Stream settings are in effect when Xperia Stream is attached to your device. Xperia Stream can be bought
only in certain countries and regions.
New features of External Monitor
The following features have been added in the monitor mode.
Other updated features
Swipe left or right on the top of the [Game mode] screen to select an option from among [Performance preferred],
[Balanced], [Battery life preferred], and [Custom].

After selecting an option, scroll down the screen to check the values of each setting.2.
Tap to display and select from among various styles of waveform.
You can check the exposure and color balance of the input video on the displayed luminance and color-tone
waveforms.

Tap to show or hide false colors.
You can use false color to check the exposure of the input video via the colored image, which shows the brightness
of the input signal.

Selecting which SIM handles data traffic if you use two SIMs
The setting procedure has changed.
Preventing your device from being unintentionally unlocked (Press to unlock with fingerprint)
When using fingerprints to protect your device, you can use the [Press to unlock with fingerprint] function to prevent your
device from being unintentionally unlocked while in the Sleep mode.

Find and tap [Settings] > [Network & internet] > [SIMs].1.
Select the SIM you want to use for data traffic.2.
Tap the [Mobile data] switch to enable the function.3.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the procedure if prompted.4.
Find and tap [Settings] > [Security], and then tap the [Press to unlock with fingerprint] switch to enable the function.
The device will not detect your fingerprint even if your finger touches the power button while in the Sleep mode.
To unlock your device, press the power button and keep your finger on it.

You can view the screen of your device on a TV or other large display device using a USB Type-C® cable.
You can also access the internet via a LAN cable by using a commercially available USB-LAN adapter.
Note
When you connect your device to a TV or other large display using a USB Type-C cable, the cable must be compatible with
the display port standard. Note that some functions or content on your Xperia device may not be displayable on the TV or
display device.
Some USB-LAN adapters may not work properly.

Inserting a SIM card and memory card
Your device supports nano SIM cards.
The XQ-CT54 supports the use of one nano SIM card and a memory card. You can use the device as a dual SIM device
by inserting a nano SIM card and configuring an eSIM.
The XQ-CT62/XQ-CT72 supports the use of either two nano SIM cards or a nano SIM card and a memory card.
Note
Even if you use two SIMs that support 5G, you can only use 5G on the SIM set for data traffic. You cannot use 5G on two SIMs at
the same time.
XQ-CT54: You do not need to insert a nano SIM card if you will only use an eSIM.
Unmount the memory card before removing it to prevent loss of data. To remove the memory card safely, find and tap [Settings] >
[Storage], tap [This device] to select [SD card], and then tap (More icon) > [Eject].

Configuring an eSIM (XQ-CT54 only)
Your device supports eSIMs (downloaded SIMs).
To use an eSIM, perform setup from the Settings menu.
Note
The procedure for setting an eSIM differs depending on the network operator. If the setting cannot be completed with the
procedure described here, refer to the setting procedure provided by your network operator.

Setting SIMs
If you use two SIMs, you can do the following:
Receive incoming communications via both SIMs.
Select the number from which to send outgoing communications, or have the option to select a SIM each time you
place a call.
Forward calls to the other SIM when one SIM is unreachable (Smart Forwarding). You must enable the [Smart
Forwarding] function manually.
Before using multiple SIMs, you need to enable them and select which SIM will handle data traffic.
Hint
Your device works even when only one SIM is set.

Note
The [Smart Forwarding] function may not be available depending on the combination of network operators that provided the
SIMs.
The [Smart Forwarding] function is not available when the [Always forward] function is enabled in the Phone app.
Hint
If you set one SIM for calling and the other SIM for data communications, you may not be able to access the internet while talking
on the phone. In this case, turn on the [Data during calls] switch of the SIM for calling. You will now be able to perform data
communications even during calls.
If the [Smart Forwarding] function does not work after you enable it, check that you have entered the phone numbers correctly for
each SIM. In some cases, the numbers are detected automatically during setup. Otherwise, you are prompted to enter them
manually.

Turning on your device
It is recommended that you charge the battery for at least 30 minutes before starting up your device for the first time. You
can still use your device while it is charging.
The first time you start your device, a setup guide helps you to configure basic settings, personalize your device, and
sign in to your accounts, for example a Google account.
To turn off the device
Note
It may take a while for the device to shut down.
Hint
You can turn off the device from the Quick settings panel. Swipe down twice from the top of the screen, and then tap (Power
menu button) > [Power off].
Long-pressing the power button is set to start the assistant by default in some countries/regions. To turn off the device by long-
pressing the power button, find and tap [Settings] > [System] > [Gestures] > [Power menu], and then tap the [Hold for Assistant]
switch to disable the function.
