Using OverDrive with a Sony Reader Wi-Fi (PRS-T1
This article will cover how to:
• Set up your Sony Wi-Fi
• Connect to a Wireless Network
• Authorize the evice
• Configure the e-Reader
• ownload an eBook
• Return an eBook Early
• elete an eBook
Before you start using your Sony Wi-Fi, you should first acquaint yourself with the five
buttons found on the front of your
device. Many features of the device are activated by tapping on specific areas of the screen, but these physical buttons
always remain:
• Page Left and Page Right: for turning pages in an e-book.
• Home Button: Looks like a house.
• Back Button: Looks like an arrow looping backwards.
• Options Button: Looks like four straight lines.

Setting Up Your Sony Wi-Fi
1. Turn on the Sony Wi-Fi by pressing the little button on the bottom of the device.
2. Set the Menu Language by tapping on the language of your choice.
3. Select Canada as your Country/Region.
4. Select your time zone (Mississauga is in the Eastern Time Zone).
5. Use the + and – buttons to adjust the date and time. It is important to set the correct date and time on your device.
6. The Sony Wi-Fi’s home screen should then display.
Connecting Your Sony Wi-Fi to an Available Wireless Network
1. From the home screen, tap on the arrow to display page 2 of the home screen.

2. Tap on Settings. When the screen changes, tap on Wireless Network Settings.
3. Tap on the box beside Wi-Fi to look for available wireless networks.

4. The device will show a list of all the networks that it detects within its antenna’s range. Choose your
network, and type in the password if your network requires one.
5. Once you have connected to the wireless network, press the Home button.
Authorize the Device
1. From the home screen, tap on the button for the Reader Store.
If you already have a Sony Reader Store account, tap on the Sign In button to proceed. If not, then tap on Create
Account.

2. Follow the instructions to create your account.
a. Agree to the terms and conditions.
b. Your account will be registered to your name and an e-mail address.
c. IMPORTANT: in addition to your Sony Wi-Fi, if you also use a computer to download e-books using the
program Adobe Digital Editions, or if you use the OverDrive Media Console app on a smart phone or
tablet, you will probably have created an Adobe I . If you have such an Adobe I , you should use the same
e-mail address and password when creating your Sony Reader Store account. This step only matters if you
use several different e-reading devices (such as a Kobo or iPad) to download library e-books.
d. It will also ask to confirm your country of residence.
3. At the end of this process you should see the home page for the Sony Reader Store. You can use the Reader Store to
purchase e-books from Sony. If you wish to borrow e-books from the Library, please continue with these instructions!

Configure the e-Reader

Download e-Books
1. In case you have skipped ahead, the following instructions assume that you have already connected to a wireless
network, and that you have tapped on the Public Library button on page 2 of the Start Menu.
Each time you open the Over rive app (by tapping on the Public Library button), it will display the following screen,
asking you to find a library. If you have searched for the Mississauga Library System previously, then tap on
“Mississauga Library System – eLibrary ownload Centre” found under Saved Searches.
2. The Library’s Over rive page will then display.
If you have already checked out Library e-books using another computer or device and would like to put them on
your Sony Wi-Fi too, then click on “My eAccount.”
Otherwise, click on “Login.”
Both of these steps will then ask you to log in with your library card.

Delete or Return an eBook Early
1. In order to return items early or delete an item using the Sony Wi-Fi, first connect to a wireless network, then press
the Home button. Tap on “Books.”
2. Press the Options button on the front of your Sony Wi-Fi. Tap on “Return Books” if you wish to return an e-book
early. Tap on “ elete Books” if you just want to remove the e-book from this device (and the e-book will remain
checked out to you in your Over rive account).
