Introduction
Function overview
Your Open-ear Bluetooth® Stereo Headset SBH82D keeps you connected with your
surroundings while listening to music wirelessly with Bluetooth. You can also
handle calls hands-free and use the voice assistant when paired with a compatible
Android™ or iOS device.
Hardware overview
1 Headphone
2 Ring supporter The headphone comes with size S, M and L ring supporters.

5 Volume key + Press to increase the volume.
6 Multi-function key Short press to:
•Answer or end a call.
•Play or pause the current music track.
•Attempt to reconnect (for Bluetooth connection only).
Long press for 1 second to:
•Reject incoming calls.
•Mute or unmute the microphone during a call.
•Activate the voice assistant.
Quickly press twice to:
•Switch between calls (for Bluetooth connection only).
•Skip to the next music track.
Quickly press three times to:
•Skip to the previous music track.
7 Volume key - Press to decrease the volume.
8 Charger/USB port Insert a USB Type-C cable to charge the battery.
9 N-mark Touch other devices to this area to use NFC.
10 Microphone Make phone calls or use the voice assistant.
11 LED indicator The LED ash frequency indicates status:

•Repeatedly ashes twice in blue when in pairing mode.
•Repeatedly ashes four times in green during incoming calls.
12 Power key Short press to:
•Check the battery level.
Long press for 2 second to:
•Power on and attempt to connect.
•Power o.
Long press for 7 seconds to:
•Power on and enter pairing mode.
Long press for 10 seconds to:
•Perform a hardware reset of your headset.

Getting started
Charging
Before using your headset for the rst time, it is recommended to charge it with a
Sony charger. You can check the battery level by checking the colour of the LED
indicator.
• Red: Battery level low
• Orange: Battery level medium
• Green: Battery level high
•No light: Charging complete
It may take up to 2 hours to fully charge a drained headset. Battery life is
approximately 7.5 hours while listening to music if the temperature is 25 °C (77 °F).
Note
Your headset has a capless USB port. The USB port must be completely dry before a cable
can be connected for charging.
To charge your headset
1Connect one end of the charging cable to the charger or the USB port of a
computer.
2Connect the other end of the cable to the USB port on your headset.

•The LED indicator ashes in red when the battery level is low. When the LED indicator
ashes in red, charge the headset.
Checking the battery level
You can check the battery level with the LED indicator. To check the battery level,
press the power key with the headset turned on.
The relationship between the battery level and the number of times the LED
indicator ashes are as follows.
• - - - - Flashes three times in green: Battery level high
• - - - - Flashes three times in orange: Battery level medium
•No light: Battery level low

Turning on and o
To turn on your headset
•Long press the power key for 2 second. The LED indicator ashes twice in green.
To turn o your headset
•Long press the power key for 2 second. The LED indicator ashes once in green.
Hint
If your headset is left idle for 10 minutes, it turns o automatically.
Pairing your headset with an Android or iOS device
To pair your headset with an Android device, you can use either One-touch
connection (NFC) or Bluetooth. To pair your headset with an iOS device, use
Bluetooth.
After you pair your headset with an Android or iOS device, the information is
saved. Your headset can save up to eight paired devices.
To pair with an Android device using One-touch connection (NFC)
1Make sure that your headset is fully charged.
2On the Android device, make sure that NFC is turned on and the screen is
unlocked.
3Touch the N-mark of your headset against the NFC detection area of the Android
device.
4Follow the on-screen instructions on the Android device to complete the pairing.
To pair your headset with an Android or iOS device using Bluetooth
1Make sure that your headset is fully charged and turned o.
2On the Android or iOS device, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on.
3Long press the power key for approximately 7 seconds.
4Scan for available Bluetooth devices on the Android or iOS device, then select
SBH82D.
Hint
The headset automatically enters pairing mode when it's powered on for the rst time.
Wearing instruction
To wear the headphones, follow these steps.
Note
Check relevant laws and regulations on the use of mobile phones, transmitting devices and
earphones before using this device while operating a vehicle or riding a bicycle. Always give
your full attention to operating your vehicle or bicycle and the surroundings.

To wear the headset
1Hold the sound duct of the headphone (R) with your left hand.
2Gently pull down your right earlobe with your right hand.
3Slide the headphone from below so the driver unit goes behind your ear, then
insert the ring supporter into your ear as shown in the illustration.
4Put on headphone (L) using the same procedure with opposite hands.
To take o the headset
•Hold the sound duct of the headphone (R), then gently slide it down to take o the
headset.
Note
Do not hold the driver unit when taking o the headphone. Holding the driver unit when
taking o the headphone may put stress on the sound duct, causing it to break.

To change the ring supporter
1Choose the ring supporter size that ts stably and comfortably in your ear.
2To remove the ring supporter, rmly hold the part of the sound duct where the ring
supporter is attached, then push the ring supporter straight backward.
3To attach the ring supporter, align the convex part of the headphone with the
concave part of the ring supporter.
4When attaching, cover the hook A with the rubber of the ring supporter as shown
in the illustration. Make sure not to tear the ring supporter.
Note
When removing or attaching the ring supporter, do not forcibly pull, push, or twist the ring
supporter, as this can damage or tear the ring supporter. When attaching, make sure the
right/left marks on the ring supporters match the marks on the headphones.
Adjusting the volume
To change the volume
•During a call or when listening to music, press the volume key + or - to increase or
decrease the volume.
Note
Avoid using your headset on high volume, as this may cause permanent hearing damage or
disturb others around you.

Using your headset
Using your headset for phone calls
Warning
For your safety, do not use your headset to handle calls while you are driving. To prevent
accidents, it is not recommended to use your headset while walking, running or cycling.
For these functions to work, you must use an Android or iOS device that supports
the relevant functions, for example, call handling.
To answer a call
•When you hear an incoming call signal, short press the multi-function key.
To end a call
•During an ongoing call, short press the multi-function key.
To reject a call
•When you hear an incoming call signal, long press the multi-function key for 1
second.
To answer a second call
•When you hear an incoming call signal during an ongoing call, short press the
multi-function key to answer the second call. The ongoing call is put on hold.
To reject a second call
•When you hear an incoming call signal during an ongoing call, long press the
multi-function key for 1 second to reject the second call.
To switch between ongoing calls
•Quickly press the multi-function key twice. The other call is put on hold.
To mute the microphone during a call
•Long press the multi-function key for 1 second. You will hear beeps. To unmute the
microphone, long press the key again for 1 second until you hear beeps.
Using your headset to listen to music
When your headset is connected to an Android or iOS device, you can play audio
content such as music from the Android or iOS device using your headset. Open
the relevant application on the Android or iOS device to start listening to audio
content.
To pause or skip music tracks
1When listening to music, short press the multi-function key to pause the track.
Short press again to resume.
2Quickly press the multi-function key twice to skip to the next track.
3Quickly press the multi-function key three times to go back to the previous track.
Using the voice assistant function
To start the voice assistant
•Long press the multi-function key for 1 second to talk to the voice assistant.

Note
For these functions to work, you must use an Android or iOS device that supports the
relevant functions. Follow the on-screen instructions on the Android or iOS device.
Using Multipoint mode
You can use Multipoint mode to pair your headset with two compatible Android or
iOS devices at the same time. This lets you receive calls from both paired devices
without having to disconnect and reconnect.
In Singlepoint mode, your headset pairs with only one Android or iOS device.
Singlepoint mode is enabled by default. If you want to stay in Singlepoint mode
but change to a new Android or iOS device, disconnect your headset from the rst
device then pair it with the new device.
Note
The voice assistant feature is not available in Multipoint mode.
To activate Multipoint mode
1Turn o your headset.
2Long press the volume key + and the power key until the LED indicator ashes
quickly twice in green, then ashes slowly twice in green to indicate that Multipoint
mode is turned on.
3When the LED indicator ashes in blue, pair your headset with an Android or iOS
device.

To activate Singlepoint mode
1Turn o your headset.
2Long press the volume key - and the power key until the LED indicator ashes
quickly twice in green, then ashes slowly once in green to indicate that
Singlepoint mode is turned on.
Note
When you turn o Multipoint mode, your headset remains paired with the most recently
paired device.
Resetting your headset
You can perform a hardware reset or a factory reset on your headset.
Perform a hardware reset if your headset stops responding. When performing a
hardware reset, information about paired devices is not lost. Perform a factory
reset if your headset behaves unexpectedly. Factory reset restores your headset to
its original settings and information about paired devices is lost.
To perform a hardware reset on your headset
•Long press the power key for 10 seconds.
To perform a factory reset on your headset
1Turn o your headset.
2Long press the power key and the multi-function key at the same time for 1
second. The LED indicator ashes four times in green, then repeatedly ashes
twice in blue to indicate that it is in pairing mode.
