電気製品は安全のための注意事項を守らないと、

この取扱説明書と別冊の「安全のために」をよくお
読みのうえ、製品を安全にお使いください。
お読みになったあとは、いつでも見られるところに
必ず保管してください。
主な特長
●安定した受信ができる、PLLシンセサイザー採用
のFM/AMポケッタブルラジオ。
●FM7局、TV3局（TV1−3ch、日本国内モデル
のみ）、AM7局、合わせて17局の放送局を記憶
させること（プリセット）ができます。いったん
プリセットしておけば、あとはプリセット番号を
選ぶだけで選局ができます。
●
メガ ベース
MEGA BASS回路を採用し、迫力ある重低音が
楽しめます。
●約90分で自動的に電源が切れる節電型（パワー
オートオフ機能）。
AM放送の周波数ステップ（間隔）について
このラジオは工場出荷時、AMの周波数間隔が
9kHzに設定されています。これは、日本をはじめ
世界の大多数の国が9kHz周波数ステップで放送を
行なっているためです。周波数ステップが10kHzス
テップの国でお使いになるときは、周波数ステップ
を切り換えてご使用ください。

乾電池の交換時期
●乾電池が消耗してくると、音が小さくなったりひ
ずんだりします。また、表示窓に「i」が点滅し
たり点灯します。そのときは、2本とも新しい乾
電池に交換してください。
●交換するときは、電源を切ってから30秒以内に
入れ換えてください。30秒以上経過すると、現
在時刻やプリセットした局の記憶が消えてしまい
ます。そのときはもう一度設定し直してくださ
い。
●交換後、「i」表示を消すには、POWER
(AUTO OFF) ボタンを押します。
時計を合わせる
初めて乾電池を入れると、表示窓に「AM12：00」
が点滅します。点滅を止めるには、ENTER/
CLOCKボタンを押します。

POWER（AUTO OFF）（電源/自動切）ボタ
ンを押してラジオの電源を切る。
2エンター クロック
ENTER/CLOCK（入力/現在時刻合わせ）ボ
チューン タイムセット
タンを押しながら、TUNE/TIME SET （選
局/時刻合わせ）の＋またはーボタンを押し
て、時刻を合わせる。
＋ボタンを押すと時刻が進み、ーボタンを押す
と戻ります。押し続けると速く進みます。
3ENTER/CLOCKボタンから指を離す。
表示窓の「：」が点滅を始め、時計が動き出し
ます。
●秒まで正確に合わせるには電話の時報サービス
（117番）が便利です。
●AMは午前、PMは午後です。

4ENTER/CLOCKボタンをもう1度押す。
「ピピッ」という音がして、受信している周波数
が記憶され、表示窓にプリセット番号が表示さ
れます。
例）プリセットボタン「2」にFMの90.0 MHzを
記憶させたときの表示
記憶させたい放送局ごとに1〜4の手順を繰り返しま
す。
記憶させた放送局を変更するには
手順1からやり直してください。
前に記憶させた放送局は消えます。
記憶させた局を聞くには
1POWER （AUTO OFF）ボタンを押して、ラ
ジオの電源を入れる。
2BANDボタンを押してFM、TV1-3またはAM
を選ぶ。
3メモリー プリセット
MEMORY PRESETボタンを繰り返し押し
て、記憶させてある放送局を選ぶ。
4VOLつまみを回して音量を調節する。
使用上のご注意
取り扱いについて
•落としたり、強いショックを与えたりしないで
ください。故障の原因になります。
•次のような場所には置かないでください。
ー温度が非常に高いところ (40℃以上)。
ー直射日光のあたる場所や暖房器具の近く。
ー風呂場など湿気の多いところ。
ー窓を閉めきった自動車内 (特に夏季)。
ーほこりの多いところ。
•ラジオ内部に液体や異物を入れないでください。
•汚れたときは、柔らかい布でからぶきしてくださ
い。シンナーやベンジンは表面をいためますので
使わないでください。
•耳をあまり刺激しないように、適度の音量でお楽
しみください。
日本国内でお使いになる場合
•このラジオのテレビ音声受信回路は、FM放送の
受信回路と兼用であるため、一部の地域では、テ
レビ2、または3チャンネルの音声を受信中、FM
放送が混じって聞こえることがあります。
このときは、お近くのソニーサービス窓口にご相
談ください。
イヤーレシーバー（両耳用）で聞くときの
ご注意
イヤーレシーバーは、音量を上げすぎると音が外に
漏れます。音量を上げすぎて、まわりの人の迷惑に
ならないように気をつけましょう。
雑音の多いところでは音量を上げてしまいがちです
が、いつも呼びかけられて返事ができるくらいの音
量を目安にしてください。
万一故障した場合は、内部を開けずにお買い上げ店
またはソニーサービス窓口にご相談ください。
故障とお考えになる前に
サービス窓口にご相談になる前にもう一度チェック
してみてください。それでも具合が悪いときはお買
い上げ店またはソニーサービス窓口にご相談くださ
い。
雑音が多く、音が悪い
m乾電池が消耗している
m電波が弱い
建物や乗り物の中では電波が弱いので、なるべ
く窓際でお聞きください。
表示窓の文字や記号が薄くて見えない
m乾電池が消耗している
m極端に暑い場所や寒い所で使っている
プリセット選局しても、聞きたい放送局が受信
できない
m間違ったプリセット番号を選んでいる
mプリセットした記憶が消えている
もう一度、プリセット番号に局を記憶させてく
ださい。
表示窓に「i」が点滅し、音が出ない。

AM放送の周波数ステップ
（間隔）を切り換える
このラジオは工場出荷時、AM 9kHzの周波数間隔
で受信するように設定されています。10kHzステッ
プで放送している地域でお使いになるときは、周波
数ステップを切り換えてください。

1POWER （AUTO OFF）ボタンを押してラジ
オの電源を切る。
2ENTER/CLOCKボタンを押しながら、
POWER
（AUTO OFF）ボタンを約5秒以上
押したままにする。
「ピピッ」という音がして、周波数ステップが
切り換わります。表示窓に「9 kHz」または
「10 kHz」の表示が3秒間点滅します。
元の周波数ステップに戻すには、手順2をもう
一度行なってください。
ご注意
周波数ステップを切り換えると、プリセット番号に
記憶しておいた放送局が消えます。時計表示は切り
換えても変わりません。
ラジオを聞く
1イヤーレシーバーをつなぐ。
2POWER （AUTO OFF）ボタンを押して、ラ
ジオの電源を入れる。
3バンド
BAND（局）ボタンを押してFM、TV1-3また
はAMを選ぶ。
4TUNE/TIME SETボタンの＋または−ボタン
を押して聞きたい局に合わせる。
5ボリューム
VOL（音量）つまみで音量を調節する。
ラジオを止めるには
POWER（AUTO OFF）ボタンをもう1度押しま
す。
電源が切れてしまったときは
このラジオは消し忘れによる乾電池のむだな消耗を
防ぐため、自動的に電源が切れるようになっていま
す。（パワーオートオフ機能）
電源が切れたあと、さらにお聞きになりたいとき
は、もう1度POWER （AUTO OFF）ボタンを押し
ます。
受信状態を良くするには
FM・TV
（1−3ch）放送の場合: ステレオイヤーレ
シーバーのコードがアンテナとして働きます。
コードをできるだけ長く伸ばしてお使いくださ
い。
AM放送の場合: AMアンテナは内蔵されているの
で、ラジオ本体の向きによって受信状態が変わ
ります。最も良く受信できる向きにしてお聞き
ください。
ステレオ放送を聞くときは
ステレオ放送を聞くときは本体裏面のFMスイッチ
をST
（ステレオ）にしておきます。雑音が気になる
ときはMONO
（モノラル）にすると聞きやすくなり
ますが、ステレオではなくなります。
低音を強調する
MEGA BASS（低音増強）スイッチをONにしま
す。
低音を強調しないときはOFFにします。音がひずん
だように聞こえる場合ではOFFにします。
プリセット選局
いつも聞く放送局をFM7局、TV3局（TV1−3ch,
日本国内モデルのみ）とAMに7局、合わせて17局
まで記憶させることができます。聞くときは、プリ
セット番号を選ぶだけで受信できます。
1記憶させる放送局を受信する。
2ENTER/CLOCKボタンを1秒以上押してプリ
セット番号の表示を点滅させる。
3表示の点滅中にMEMORY PRESETボタン
を繰り返し押して記憶させたいプリセット番号
を選ぶ。

ますので、お買い上げ店か、ソニーサービス窓口に
ご相談ください。なお、補修用性能部品の保有期間
は通商産業省の指導にもよるものです。

Before You Begin
Thank you for choosing the Sony radio! It will give
you many hours of reliable service and listening
pleasure.
Before operating the radio, please read these
instructions thoroughly and retain them for future
reference.
Features
• Quartz-controlled PLL(Phase Locked Loop)
synthesizer system using a microcomputer for
easy pinpoint tuning.
• Up to 7 stations in FM and 7 stations in AM
can be preset.
• You can enjoy a powerful bass sound using the
“MEGA BASS” system.
• Power goes off automatically in about 90
minutes.
Notes on AM Channel Step
The AM channel step differs depending on areas.
The channel step of this unit is factory-set to
10 kHz (models for North and South America)/
9 kHz (models for other countries).

Installing the
Batteries (See Fig. A)
1Open the lid at the rear of the radio.
2Install two R03 (size AAA) batteries with
correct polarity.
3Close the lid.

Knowing When to Replace the Batteries
• When the batteries become weak, the sound
becomes weak and distorted, and “i” will
appear or flash in the display.
Replace the batteries with new ones.
• Before replacing the batteries, make sure that
the radio is turned off. Replace the batteries
within 30 seconds. Otherwise, the clock setting
and preset stations could be erased. In this case,
set the clock and preset the stations again.
• After replacing the batteries, to clear “i” press
POWER (AUTO OFF).
Notes on Batteries
• Insert the batteries with correct polarity.
• Do not charge the dry batteries.
• Do not use different types of batteries at the
same time.
• When you replace the batteries, replace both
with new ones.
• When the unit is not being used for a long
period of time, remove the batteries to avoid
damage from battery leakage and corrosion.
• If a battery leakage occurs, wipe the battery
compartment with a soft cloth before inserting
new ones.
Setting the Clock
The time display of this clock is a 12-hour
system.
The display will flash “AM 12:00” when the
batteries are first installed.
Press ENTER/CLOCK to stop flashing of the
display .
1Press POWER (AUTO OFF) to turn off
the power.
2While holding down ENTER/CLOCK,
press TUNE/TIME SET + or –to set the
clock to the current time.
Each time you press the button, the digits move
forward or backward by one.
When you keep the button pressed, the
digits change rapidly.
3When you release ENTER/CLOCK, the
clock starts operating, and “:” starts
flashing.
• To set the current time exactly to the second,
release ENTER/CLOCK at step 3 with the
telephone time signal.
• 12-hour system : “AM 12:00”= midnight ,
“PM 12:00”= noon.
Changing AM
Channel Step
The channel step of this unit is factory-set to
9 kHz or 10 kHz to match the frequency allocation
system of the country as listed.
When needed, change the channel step before
listening to the radio.

North and South 10 kHz
American countries
Other countries 9 kHz
1Press POWER (AUTO OFF) to turn off
the power.
2While holding down ENTER/CLOCK,
keep pressing POWER (AUTO OFF) for
more than 5 seconds.
You can hear the confirmation beep and the
channel step (9 kHz or 10 kHz) will flash in the
display for 3 seconds.
If you proceed to step 2 again, the channel step
changes back to the previous channel step.
Note
• When the AM channel step is changed, the
preset stations will be erased, and the clock
time will be kept.
Operating the Radio
1Connect the headphones to 2.
2Press POWER (AUTO OFF).
3Press BAND to select the band.
4Press TUNE/TIME SET + or –to tune in a
station.
5Adjust VOL (volume).
• To turn off the radio, press POWER (AUTO
OFF).
• The radio will be shut off automatically in about
90 minutes to prevent unnecessary wear of the
batteries. To listen to the radio continuously,
press the POWER (AUTO OFF) again.
• To improve radio reception
FM: Extend the headphones cord which
functions as the FM antenna.
AM: Rotate the unit horizontally for optimum
reception. A ferrite bar antenna is built
in the unit.
To improve the sensitivity of stereo
program
When listening to stereo program, normally set the
FM selector (at the rear of the unit) to the ST
position. If the stereo program is too weak and
noisy, set the FM selector to the MONO position.
(When the selector is set to the MONO position, the
sound will become monaural.)
To obtain powerful bass sound
Switch MEGA BASS to ON. The “MEGA BASS”
system produces a powerful bass.
When the sound become distorted, switch MEGA
BASS to OFF.
Preset Tuning
You can preset up to 7 stations in FM, 3 stations in
TV (TV 1-3, channels is use in Japan only) and 7
stations in AM, 17 stations altogether. Easily tuned
by choosing a preset number you want to listen to.
1Tune in a station to preset. (See
“Operating the Radio”)
2Hold down ENTER/CLOCK until the
preset number flashes in the display.
3Press the MEMORY PRESET button
repeatedly to choose the preset number.
4Press ENTER/CLOCK.
You can hear the confirmation beep and preset
number appears in the display.
Example: To set FM 90 MHz in preset
button 2 for FM.
To preset another station, repeat these
steps.
• To change the preset station, preset a new
station number. The previous station will be
cancelled.
Tuning in a Preset Station
1Press POWER (AUTO OFF).
2Select the band with BAND.
3Press MEMORY PRESET button
repeatedly to choose the preset stations.
4Adjust VOL (volume).
Precautions
• Operate the unit only on 3 V DC with two R03
(size AAA) batteries.
• Avoid exposure to temperature extremes, direct
sunlight, moisture, sand, dust or mechanical
shock. Never leave in a car parked in the sun.
• Should anything fall into the unit, remove the
batteries, and have the unit checked by qualified
personnel before operating it any further.
• To clean the casing, use a soft cloth dampened
with a mild detergent solution.
• In vehicles or buildings, radio reception may be
difficult of noisy. Try listening near a window.
Notes on Headphones
Road safety
Do not use headphones while driving, cycling, or
operating any motorized vehicle. It may create a
traffic hazard and is illegal in many areas. It can
also be potentially dangerous to play your
headphones at high volume while walking,
especially at pedestrian crossings. You should
exercise extreme caution or discontinue use in
potentially hazardous situations.
Preventing hearing damage
Avoid using headphones at high volume.
Hearing experts advise against continuous, loud
and extended play. If you experience a ringing in
your ears, reduce volume or discontinue use.
Caring for others
Keep the volume at a moderate level. This will
allow you to hear outside sounds and to be
considerate to people around you.
Warning
If there is lightning when you are using the unit,
take off the headphones immediately.
If you have any questions or problems concerning
your unit, please consult your nearest Sony dealer.

Troubleshooting
Guide
Should any problem persist after you have made
the following checks, consult your nearest Sony
dealer.
Very weak or interrupted sound, or
unsatisfactory reception
• Weak batteries
• In a vehicle or in a building, listen near a
window.
Display is dim, or no indication is displayed.
• Weak batteries.
• The unit is being used in extremely high or low
temperatures or in a place with excessive
moisture.
The station cannot be received when a
MEMORY PRESET button is pressed.
• Chosen the wrong preset number.
• The memory of the station has been erased,
preset the station again.
Sound is not heard and “i” flashes in the
display.
• Weak batteries.
