Purpose of this manual This is the Installation Manual of Hybrid Network Fileserver FSV-VN7/CS7.
This manual describes the information items that premise the service based on the
components parts such as introduction, tool and measuring instruments, installation
procedure, troubleshooting, assuming use of system and service engineers.

This manual describes how to install an HNF (Hybrid Network Fileserver).
When installing an HNF, refer to this manual accordingly, although it is not bundled in the product.
The HNF can extend 8 units of FSV-CS7 (Cache Server) and up to 4 units of LIB-162/A3, A4 (AIT
Library) or up to 2 units of CSM-20 (SAIT Library) to meet the customer’s requirement.
The detail of connection is described in Section 3-1 Configuration.
This system is a hybrid NAS (Network Attached Storage) device that is composed of a main server, a
cache server, an AIT Library and a SAIT Library into an integrated storage system. It can be mounted
from an application server as a dedicated storage system. Using the pre-installed hierarchical storage
management software, each component in the system is configured to automatically provide optimum
access based on frequency of data use. All system settings and maintenance can be performed remotely
from a web-based administration screen.

Installation Space
Floor space of 1000 mm in front and 700 mm (*Min: 150 mm) behind the system is required for installa-
tion.
*: When free space is less than 700 mm, move a rack to make a space for accesss when needed.

3-1. Configuration
3-1-1. Prerequisite for Connection
Information required for network setup; please obtain the followings from your customer.
.Hostname and IP address, Network address, broadcast address and gateway address to be used on the
HNF Main Server (FSV-VN7)
.SMTP server IP address used for email notification
.DNS server IP address for name resolutions
3-1-2. Configuration
See the diagram below how to connect the components.
1. The LAN1 and LAN2 ports are used to connect to the customer’s network.
2. The LAN3 port should be used to connect to the Cache Server through the Switching HUB.
3. Connect a keyboard to the Main Server and the Cache Server via the PS/2 port respectively.
4. Connect the AIT Library(ies) or the SAIT Library(ies) with SCSI cable(s) as follows.
5. Connect a terminator (LIB-162 accessory : PN 1-794-041-51) to the empty SCSI connector on the
back of the AIT Library or the SAIT Library last device.

.When adding the second Cache Server, the IP address must be changed.

Refer to Library operation manual before setting up the
library. After connecting the Library to the HNF system,
power on the Library(ies) and set up SCSI ID as follows by
the front panel.

Libraries are assigned from the lowest SCSI ID first to
match on display of Management software windows, but
SCSI ID 7 is already reserved for the Main Server.
3-2-2. CSM-20 (SAIT Library)
Before setting up, read the Instruction Manual for each
library.
Connect the Main Server and the SAIT Libraries with
SCSI cables. Leave them ready for use.
Assign the SCSI ID as shown below.

Assign the SCSI ID to the SAIT Libraries, starting with the
lowest number to match with the display on the manage-
ment software window. Do not assign the ID 7 as it is
reserved for Main Server.

Power on the Main Server from the front switch panel, and
wait about 3 minutes until “OS booting”on the front LCD
turns to a display of the IP addresses.
1. Confirm if the installation is successful by the
Webmin.
From your PC Browser access the following URL. http://
192.168.1.254:24000
As a login screen should pop up, enter “sony”for User-
name, “sony2002”for Password.
Click the “Login”button.
2. Licence agreement at the first login to the
HNF
Show the licence agreement to the customer, then go to
next step.
If failed to show it to the customer, it can be re-displayed
anytime. (Refer to 5-1 License Agreement)
3. Overview of Webmin
When Login is successful, the following window appears.

Set your PC IP address to 192.168.1.100.
1. Disable the Browser Proxy settings.
Uncheck the check box of “Use a Proxy server for
your LAN”.

4. System language setting
1. Webmin language setting (Default : English).
Select [Webmin] - [Webmin Configuration] -
[Language], the following window appears.
Select the preferred language by pulldown menu and
click the “Change Language”button.
2. Samba (Server software of SMB protocol) Client code
page setting (Default code : 932)
Select [Servers] - [Windows File Sharing] -
[GLOBALS].
Client code for Samba needs to be set to the language
for each country. Input a code (refer to the following
Language Code Table) in the “dos charset”box and
click “Save”button.

When setting “dos charset”to a code other than
“CP932”, set “unix charset”and “display”charset to
UTF8.

5. Network Setup

Do not use “setup”and “netconfig”command of the Main
Server to change the network settings, otherwise the
system may fall into malfunction.
Select [System] - [IP Address Configuration]. The follow-
ing screen will appear.
Set to a proper address in each box and click “Change
global network settings”button.

Network address can be changed by updating the configu-
ration file by manual. (Refer to 5-2 IP Address change by
command line of Appendix)

This chapter describes how Cache Server are registered to
the Main Server.
1. Power on the Cache Server
When additional Cache Server(s) is connected, leave the
LAN cable disconnected until the IP address is appropri-
ately changed.
2. Change the IP address by the command line
(Refer to 5-2.)

.Avoid duplication of IP Addresses.
.Change the IP Address to “192.168.1.XXX”.
3. Confirm the IP address on the front LCD
Login directly to the Cache Server from the console and
execute “ifconfig bond0”command.
The Default address used on the Cache Server is
192.168.1.128.

4. Configuration of the Cache Server
Select the [Setup] →[Cache Configuration] icon.
When the [Cache Search] button is pressed, when the
connected cache is displayed, press the [Add Cache]
button.
If not, type the cache IP address in the Host column.
In the cache name column, re-write the “X”part of CX as
the cache server number.
Press the [Add Cache] button. When succeeded, the newly
added cache will be displayed in the cache list as shown
below.
If failed, check the connection of the cache server and the
initial settings and try again the above steps.
When optional Cache Server(s) is(are) connected, repeat
the steps of each above procedure.

3-3-1. License Registration
Select [Setup] →[License].
The following window appears.
Type the serial number and the license key of FZLH16AL
(License sheet) or FZLH20SL (SAIT Library Licence) into
Serial and Code of License List respectively.
Then click on the “Add”button to register the license
information.
When another AIT library or SAIT library is connected,
add the given Serial and Code of License to the Lists.
If an incorrect Serial or Code is entered, an error message
is displayed In this case, check if the value is properly
typed in. (Refer to Section 4.)
3-3-2. Verification of Library Connection
Click on the [Setup] →[Library Configuration] icon.
(The window shows the case of the CSM-20 (SAIT
Library.))
When a Library with two AIT drives is connected success-
fully, all the devices should be displayed as shown in the
example above.
Check the Device List status and click on the “run library
configuration”button to complete the device configuration.

When another AIT library or SAIT library is connected,
the status for the new devices is displayed in the Device
List.
If the Device List is shown in red, the license information
may not have been registered correctly.
Check the license registration again.

3-3-3. Verification of Firmware Revision
In this section, the update procedure of the LIB-162/A3 (AIT library)/ the internal AIT3 drive or the
CSM-20 (SAIT library)/internal SAIT1 drive is described.
The recommended firmware should be available at EMCS WW service website. Click “Firmware
Library”in the Service Information on the left-hand side and search by the model name.
Click [Firmware Revisions] in the Webmin [Service] menu and the current versions are displayed. When
the current version is old, a recommended version is suggested in red. A procedure for version up is
following.

[Process]
Stop PetaServe service.
Webmin: Services →Start/Stop of PetaServe
Upgrade the firmware by the menu.
Webmin: Services →Firmware Revisions
Check the firmware if it is same as the recommended version. If not, the “Update”icon should be high-
lighted. (If it is grayed out, PetaServe processes may be still running.)
Click the icon and chose the firmware file to upgrade the library.
Restart the PetaServe service after upgrade is completed.
Webmin: Services →Start/Stop of PetaServe

When the firmware matches with the recommended version, the update button becomes invalid.
