Welcome to the
Sony Xperia Z1
This Quick Start guide tells
you how to set up your Sony
Xperia Z1 and use some
common features.
How to Turn on
the Device
To turn on your phone to
start, press and hold the
Power button.
Then follow the instructions
to set up your phone. To
turn the phone off, press and
hold the Power button. A
Power Options message
will appear. Tap Power Off
on the screen.
How to Change
Your Ringtone
1. From your
App Drawer,
Tap Settings.
2. Tap Sound.
3. Tap Phone Ringtone.
4. Tap the desired ringtone.
5. Tap Done.
6. Tap the Home Key.
How to Answer a
Call
1. When you receive a call.
the, Incoming call
screen opens.
2. Drag the green phone
icon to the right to
answer.
How to add a
Widget to your
Home screen
1. On your Home screen,
press and hold.
2. Tap Widgets.
3. Swipe across the bottom
and find the Widget.
4. Drag the widget up to
the top and release.
How to Send a
Text Message
1. From the Home screen,
tap Messaging.
2. Tap the New message
icon.
3. In the To field, enter
the recipient’s phone
number or name.
4. Tap the Type Message
field and enter your
message.
5. Tap Send.

Messaging:
Tap this icon to send
an SMS or MMS
message.

Tap to get the latest
news, updates and
more.
Play Store:
Tap to download more
apps.
Phone:
Tap here to make a
call, to view your

App Drawer:

How to Turn Mobile
Data on or off
1. From your
Home screen,
Open the App
Drawer.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap More…
4. Tap Mobile Networks.
5. If Mobile Data Traffic is
ticked then Mobile Data is
enabled.
6. Tap Mobile Data Traffic
to Remove the tick and
disable Mobile Data.
How to Connect
to a Wi-Fi
Network
1. From your
Home screen,
Tap the App
Drawer.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap the Wi-Fi switch to
set it to ON.
4. Tap the word Wi-Fi.
5. Tap the desired network
you wish to connect to.
6. If the network is secured,
enter the password.
7. Tap Connect.
How to Setup
your Xtra Email
1. From your
Home screen,
Open the App
Drawer.
2. Tap Email.
3. Tap Xtra.
4. Enter your Xtra email
address.
5. Enter your Xtra
password.
6. Tap Next.
7. Tap Next.
8. Amend the Account
Name and Your Name
fields as required.
9. Tap Next.
10.Xtra Email is now setup.
How to Connect to
your facebook
account
1. On your Home
screen, tap
the App
Drawer.
2. Tap
Facebook.
3. Enter your
Facebook email
address.
4. Tap the Password field.
5. Enter your password
details.
6. Tap Log in.
7. Tap Skip.
8. Tap the Home Key to
exit.
Install and View
Usage on the
Spark NZ App
1. Open the Play
Store and
search for
Spark NZ.
1. Tap and install the
Spark NZ app.
2. Wait for install to finish.
3. Press the Home Key.
4. From your app
drawer, tap the
Spark icon.
5. Tap Register.
6. Enter your mobile
number and tap Next.
7. Enter the SMS
validation code and
your desired password in
the required fields.
8. Tap Sign In.
9. Tap the Menu
button in the
top left corner.
10.Tap My Usage.
Note: By default you will be
automatically logged in
whenever you open the
Spark App in the future.
