800100 IR Thermometer/LED Light Pen is unique in two respects: The bright white LED light on one end m kes the thermometer
ide l for quick field inspections in HVAC, Industri l Hygiene nd other pplic tions, while the pen sized c se m kes it convenient
to c rry nd insures it is lw ys on h nd. Since the fl shlight h s sep r te b ttery, the thermometer will work even when the
fl shlight b ttery is de d. The infr red (IR) lens h s protective twist on/off cover.
Operation:
1. Press LED Light button (6) to use the LED Light (7). Press the button g in to turn the LED Light (7) off.
2. For IR me surement, unscrew the protective cover, point the IR Lens (1) t the t rget nd press the IR button (3). The
me surement is displ yed on the LCD (2).
3. Me surement is const ntly upd ted s long s the IR button (3) is depressed.
4. When the IR button (3) is rele sed, the l st me surement rem ins on the LCD (2) until the unit turns off ( pproxim tely 15
seconds), or until the IR button (3) is pressed g in.
5. When the IR me surement is displ yed on the LCD, the b cklight will turn on nd rem in ctive for 10 seconds.
Note: Re dings m y fluctu te if the pen is moved during me surement. This thermometer is not intended for medic l ev lu tions.
°F/°C: To switch between temper ture sc les, gently insert the end of p perclip into the pick hole on the b ck (opposite the IR
button (3). The LCD (2) displ ys the selected sc le.
1:1 Distance-to-Spot: The t rget must be l rger th n the spot size. The f rther you re from the object, the l rger the spot.
For ex mple, if you re 2 feet from the t rget, the me sured re is 2 foot r dius.

Emissivity is the bility of n object to emit or bsorb energy. This instrument me sures emitted energy using fixed emissivity
v lue of 0.95 (which covers bout 90% of typic l pplic tions). When me suring highly reflective surf ces, pply m sking t pe to
the surf ce or p int th t h s 0.95 emissivity. If the object you re me suring is covered with frost, cle r the frost to expose the
object's surf ce before t king the me surement.
Battery Replacement:
1. Thermometer: When the b ttery icon fl shes on the LCD (2), the thermometer b ttery is low nd should be repl ced. Twist
off the B ttery Access (4) nd repl ce the two 1.5V LR44 b tteries (5).
. LED Light: When the fl shlight is dim or f ils to oper te, the b ttery should be repl ced. Twist off the B ttery Access (4) nd
repl ce the 1.5V AAA b ttery (5).
Care: Keep the protective cover on the IR Lens (1) when not in use. Cle n the lens with compressed ir, use soft brush, or
c refully wipe the surf ce with moist cotton sw b. Do not use solvents. The housing m y be cle ned with moist cloth.
Protect the instrument from w ter, physic l or electric l shock, dust, nd extreme environments.
