The S2510U33RUSM USM Removable Storage Bay and Enclosure turns a 5.25" front computer bay into a hot-
swappable USM interface for you to connect a 2.5” SATA hard drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD), using the
included USM enclosure. Both the bay and enclosure are compatible with Seagate GoFlex® and other USM
interface devices, and support SATA III transfer speeds up to 6.0 Gbps.
USM (Universal Storage Module) is a portable drive standard that interfaces with SATA and enables you to hot-
swap drives between multiple host devices, such as PCs, notebooks, DVRs and many others.
Using the included USM to USB 3.0 adapter, the enclosure can also be connected externally to non-USM host
devices via USB. Plus, with support for UASP, the enclosure performs up to 70% faster than conventional USB
when paired with a UASP-enabled host controller, to utilize the full potential of your SATA III hard drives. See our

For even more versatility, StarTech.com offers the SAT2510U33USM, an additional 2.5in USM SATA Hard Drive
Enclosure, which offers the option to swap multiple drives in and out of the main computer as needed.
The USM removable hard drive bay interfaces with SATA, and can be mounted into any 5.25" front bay, to provide a
hot-swappable mobile rack. The bay features push-button ejection allowing drives to easily be installed and
removed from the computer system, providing a convenient method of creating backups that can then be removed
for safe keeping, archiving or external portable access.

Improved Performance with UASP
UASP is supported in Windows 8, Mac (OSX 10.8 or above), and Linux. In testing UASP performs with a 70%
faster read speed and 40% faster write speed over traditional USB 3.0 at peak performance.

At the same peak in testing UASP also shows an 80% reduction in required processor resources.
Testing results were obtained using an Intel® Ivy Bridge system, a UASP enabled StarTech.com enclosure, and a
SATA III solid state drive.
