P ODUCT SAFETY
CAUTION - HOT SU FACES
!
◊ HAZARDOUS VAPORS
Use in a well ventilated area and wear proper
respirator. Glue pellets release vapors when melted.
◊ STRANGULATION HAZARD AND RISK
OF PINCHING
Do not wear loose clothing, jewelry, and tie long hair.
Avoid risk of fingers getting caught by the feed rollers
while feeding the tape.
◊ NEVER LEAVE THE MACHINE
UNATTENDED
Due to risks of burns, strangulation and pinching,
never leave the machine unattended.
◊ ELECTRIC SHOCKS
Check machine cable regularly, to detect damages
from hot parts or sharp edges that could damage the
cable and cause electric shocks.
◊ USE ADE UATE EXTENSION CABLE
When using extension cable, make sure to use correct
gauge, type and length. Run extension cable so it
does not create interferences while using the
edgebander.
Touching hot parts can cause severe
burns. Always hold the machine by the
handles. Pay attention to liquid glue which
is very hot (200°C). Wear adequate
protective gloves and safety glasses.
◊ INHE ENTLY UNSTABLE OPE ATION
Using a portable edgebander requires great care and
attention.
• Due to hot surfaces and risks of burns, always hold
the machine securely by the insulated handles;
• Do not use for overhead work, as hot glue might drip
on operator;
• Use in a clear and clean area so you do not tip over
the cable or debris;
• If workpiece is held by vacuum clamps, the suction
force and the suction period of time might be affected
by the quality, smoothness and flatness of the
workpiece, the dust on it and the size and weight of
the workpiece.
Always pay attention and use precaution to the
potential of losing suction while edgebanding,
which ma cause a dangerous situation.
For large workpiece, multiple vacuum clamps are
required for stable operation and to reduce risk of
losing suction.
Optional electric vacuum kit is available to provide
a more reliable holding. Other methods for holding the
piece may be used, if no need to access all sides of
the workpiece at once.
• Take time to use a practice workpiece of same
material you want to edgeband and with the same
tape. It should be of decent size so you can get the
feeling of the operation (proper speed, pressure)
before working on good pieces.

Page 7
To reduce the risk of electric shock, follow all
electrical and safety codes, including the
National Electric Code (NEC) and the
ccupational Safety and Health Regulations
( SHA). All electrical connections and wiring
should be made by qualified personnel only.
WA NING
!
This machine MUST BE G OUNDED
while in use to protect the operator from
electric shock.
WA NING
!
In the event of a malfunction or breakdown, G OUNDING
provides the path of least resistance for electric current and
reduces the risk of electric shock. The plug MUST be
plugged into a matching electrical receptacle that is
properly installed and grounded in accordance with ALL
local codes and ordinances.
If a plug is provided with your machine DO NOT modify the
plug. If it will not fit your electrical receptacle, have a
qualified electrician install the proper connections to meet
all electrical codes. All connections must also adhere to all
of SHA mandates.
IMP OPE ELECT ICAL CONNECTION of the
equipment-grounding conductor can result in risk of electric
shock. The conductor with the green insulation (with or
without yellow stripes) is the equipment-grounding
conductor.
DO NOT connect the equipment-grounding conductor to a
live terminal if repair or replacement of the electric cord or
plug is necessary.
Check with a qualified electrician or service personnel if you
do not completely understand the grounding instructions,
or if you are not sure the tool is properly grounded.

WA NING
!
To reduce the risk of fire or electrical
shock, use the proper gauge of extension
cord. When using an extension cord, be
sure to use one heavy enough to carry the
current your machine will draw.
WA NING
!
The smaller the gauge-number, the larger the diameter of
the extension cord is. If in doubt of the proper size of an
extension cord, use a shorter and thicker cord. An
undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting
in a loss of power and overheating.
WA NING
!
If you are using an extension cord outdoors, be sure it is
marked with the suffix “W-A” (“W” in Canada) to indicate
that it is acceptable for outdoor use.
Make certain the extension cord is properly sized, and in
good electrical condition. Always replace a worn or
damaged extension cord immediately or have it repaired by
a qualified person before using it.
Protect your extension cords from children, sharp objects,
excessive heat, and damp or wet areas.
USE ONLY a 3-wire extension cord that has
a 3-prong grounding plug and a 3-pole
receptacle that accepts the machine’s
plug. The third prong is used to ground the
tool and provide protection against
accidental electric shock. DO NOT remove the third.

P EPA ATION
◊ GENERAL
Keep equipment clean at all times. Keep panel and
materials at room temperature.
High humidity environment might affect the adhesion.
Always apply sufficient contact pressure onto the
workpiece when edge-banding. Not enough pressure
might cause insufficient attachment on the workpiece.
Store hot melt adhesive in a cool and dry enclosed
place.
A filled glue pot is normally sufficient (depending on
glue) for gluing approximately 50m (height of tape
25 mm) or approximately 25m (height of tape 65 mm).
Always make sure the glue is melted in the glue pot
before operation.
Please use GL80 hot melt adhesive for edge-banding.
Hot melt glue brands such as Kleiberit VP929657,
Dorus KS224/2 or Jowat 280.30 , should be compatible
with the SC 60-410. Please refer to glue performance
guide of each brand thoroughly.
The SC 60-410 is suitable for edge-banding on
straight edges and on outside and inside curves. The
minimum inner radius for banding is 1’’ (25 mm) but
edge-banding thickness and type may affect the result.
◊ ADDING GLUE
Check the glue level by looking through the window in
the glue pot cover.
Add glue pellets if necessary, before operation. The
glue pot is full when glue is within 10 mm (3/8’’) of
the top.
WARNING: Wear gloves. Glue pot cover may be very
hot. Allow glue pot to cool before adding glue pellets.
◊ MEASURING AND SETTING EDGE
BAND WIDTH
The infeed guide is set to make sure the banding is
applied flush with the top of the piece.
The procedure is:
Loosen the tape insert guide knob (Fig. 1).
Place the edge band below the measuring wing and
lower the tape insert guide against the edge band, then
tighten the knob (Fig. 2).
(FIG.1)
(FIG.2)

Page 13
Refer to the width displayed by the measuring wing
(Fig. 3).
and adjust the guiding plate (Fig. 4) to the same
edgebanding width by loosening the lock lever and
adjust the guide plate position using the guide plate
height scale.
◊ GUIDE PLATE ADJUSTMENT
The surface of the guide plate must be perpendicular
to the pressure roller which applies the banding to the
edge of the piece.
For most operations, the guide plate is set 90° to the
feed rollers. Should the application require to set the
angle at a different value, it can be adjusted with a
variation of +/- 15° .
Loosen screw (1). Use a precision square even with the
face of outfeed roller and across the face of the guide
plate. Loosen the lock lever so the face rests on the
square (2).
Tighten the screw (1) to lock in 90° position. Set the ‘0’
on the angle indicator by loosening the screws (3) and
adjust the scale (4) to ‘0’. Tighten the screws. (Fig. 5).
(FIG.4)
1
2
3
4
(FIG.5)
(FIG.3)
After the guide plate angle is correctly adjusted, check
that the roller easily contacts the workpiece edge all
around.
The banding lightly exceeds the surface of the
workpiece, but this excess will be removed
subsequently by the trimmer.
Note: Make sure the lock lever is tightened so the
guide plate is secured prior to operation.

Adjust the glue volume dial (Fig. 9) to increase or
decrease the amount of glue provided to the glue roller.
Run a test piece.
Take a piece of edge banding approx. 20 cm (8’’) and
a scrap panel of same workpiece. Insert at lowest feed
speed and apply to the scrap panel. Check if glue is
applied uniform and in good quantity and if banding
adheres solidly to the workpiece. ake corrections if
required and run another test piece. If settings are
correct, reinstall the top cover.
Pay attention to hot surfaces.
◊ DRIVE CHAIN ADJUSTMENT
With the top cover removed, machine at operating
temperature, drive chain can be adjusted if found loose.
Adjust the axle bearing to correct the chain tension
(Fig. 10). It is also a good opportunity to lubricate chain
with a light machine oil. (See aintenance)
◊ GLUE ADJUSTMENT
We adjust the amount of glue applied according to the
edge banding width by mean of the glue volume dial
(A). This controls the amount of glue applied to the glue
roller (Fig. 6).
Then we adjust the thickness of the banding by mean
of the thickness adjustment knob (B) (Fig. 7-8). This
adjustment controls the uniformity of glue across the
width of the banding by applying tension on the glue
roller.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: DO NOT adjust these dials if the
glue pot is cold and the machine has not reached its
normal operating temperature.
Damages to internal components will result.
To perform glue adjustment:
Turn on the main switch and the glue pot heating switch
and wait for machine to reach its normal operating
temperature.
Remove the top cover. Warning: this can be very hot.
To adjust the thickness adjustment knob (B) (Fig. 7-8),
first loosen the set screw and nut (C) (Fig. 7-8) so you
can change the setting and apply more or less tension
on the glue roller. ake the setting (D) (Fig. 8) and
tighten screw and nut.

◊ OVERVIEW
After preparation, adjustments and run test are done,
and machine at operating temperature, the
edgebanding operation can start.
The machine can be used on straight edges, outside
and inside curves and inside corners.
We recommend you start with a test piece of same
material you will edge and same banding, of decent size
so you can get the feeling of the operation (speed,
pressure applied) and to confirm your settings are good.
easure the length of the workpiece and cut banding
tape a few inches (4’’) longer than workpiece to allow
for precise end trimming (Fig. 11).
Insert the banding tape into the infeed guide to the feed
rollers. Start the feed rollers and stop the tape before
glue applied. achine is ready to apply the tape.
ake sure the workpiece is secured; use of the suction
cup clamps allows access on all sides.
Press the heated pressure plate and roller against edge
of the workpiece and start the feed rollers (Fig. 12). The
glue is automatically spread and the machine applies
the tape to the edge of the piece.
You need to guide the machine at constant speed and
apply steady pressure for good adhesion of the tape.
Stop the feed rollers once the tape is applied.
The speed can be adjusted by turning the speed control
dial on the handle.
(FIG.11)
(FIG.12)
For circular shaped workpieces, as we finish close to
the starting point, maintain the guide plate against the
surface of workpiece while moving edgebander away
from the edge just before the tape ends (Fig. 13).
Use the dual end cutter to cut the tape at exact length
and an air gun and wood block to apply the tape in final
position.
Caution: Liquid glue on end of the tape can be ver
hot and cause burns.
◊ SHAPED PARTS
Inside and outside radius
The machine can apply edge banding to inside and
outside curves having a radius no smaller than 1’’
(25 mm). Type and thickness of tape may affect the
result and might require larger radius. Test on scrap
piece to confirm result prior to edge banding the real
part.
Inside corners
The inside corner guide plate must be attached, as
shown on (Fig.14). Tighten the screws.
This guide plate is used to apply tape on inside corners
(Fig. 15), and for curves with inner radius smaller than
1’’ (type and thickness of tape will affect the result).

A set of vacuum clamps is supplied with the edge
bander:
They can be arranged to best hold the workpiece with
respect to its shape and weight. They can be attached
to a work surface by mean of:
For first 2 methods, remove the lower vacuum cups for
fixing the vacuum clamp to the work surface by mean
of C clamps or the screws.
When choosing to fix with the vacuum cups, stick a
circular rubber mat on the work surface where the
vacuum cup will be. ake sure work surface is smooth
and clean prior to sticking it in position. Remove the
backing and apply the circular rubber mat to the work
surface. Clean the vacuum cup and apply it tightly on
the rubber mat and actuate the lower clamping lever to
create suction and fix to the work surface.
Clean the upper vacuum cups, place the clean smooth
workpiece, apply perpendicular hand pressure on the
workpiece and actuate the upper clamping lever
to create suction.
1. Fix with C clamp. 2. Fix with screw. 3. Fix with vacuum
suckers.
IMPORTANT NOTE DURING OPERATION:
• The suction force and the suction period of time might
be affected by the quality, smoothness and flatness of
the workpiece, the dust on it and the size and weight of
the workpiece.
• For large production and for lengthy holding period of
time, an optional electric vacuum kit is available to
provide a more stable holding .
• Always pay attention and use precaution to the potential
of losing suction while edgebanding, which may
cause a dangerous situation.
• For large workpiece, multiple vacuum clamps are
required for stable operation and to reduce risk of losing
suction.
◊ DUAL END CUTTER
This guillotine type cutter is designed to be used both
for:
sharp corner cuts
and for precise end seams on shaped parts

◊ TRIMMER
This small router has micro-adjustment for accurate
removal of the excess edge banding, and the guide
bearing allows the use on inside curves with radius of
1’’. A dust collection cover can be hooked up to a
vacuum cleaner.
Also, the trimmer base houses a hand razor for
removing excess tape by hand.
◊ STATIONARY CONVERSION TABLE
Offered as an option, a conversion table allows
mounting of the SC 60-410 edge bander to become a
stationary edge banding machine, with a tape
dispenser.

MAINTENANCE
◊ CLEANING
Keep the machine clean at all times.
Remove glue from the outfeed side of the base and
from the feed rollers. Bring the machine to normal
working temperature to soften the glue and use a soft
brush, a wooden or plastic scraper and remove most of
the glue.
For surfaces not warmed up by the heating element,
you can use a heat gun and soften the glue, then gently
scrape it with a non-marring wooden or plastic scraper.
Ask your dealer about aftermarket products that could
be suitable to help you maintain your edge bander.
◊ LUBRICATION
The drive chain should be lubricated often, at least each
operating day, to operate smoothly. During the set-up,
it is a very practical time to do it, as the top cover is
removed and machine is at operating condition. Apply
a light coat of light machine oil to the chain, press the
On/Off button on control handle to start the feed roller;
this will help spread the oil inside the chain links and on
sprockets.
◊ ERROR MESSAGE
The SC 60-410 is built with error detect function.
There are 4 error messages that can display:
Voltage error: input voltage is different from
machine setting. Check input voltage.
Motor error:Please contact your dealer
service department.
Heating error: heating temperature exceeds
220℃. Turn machine off, unplug it and
contact your dealer service department.
Temperature detecting error: turn machine
off, unplug it and contact your dealer service
department.
