Installation and activation
Steinberg Download Assistant & installing your software
Check the system requirements, and make sure to have enough free space on your hard disk.
Please note that the download and installation process need additional space temporarily.
In the Steinberg Download Assistant
• Update Installer: Choose this installer to update an existing Cubase 10 installation on your system
to Cubase 10.5.
• Full Installer: Choose this installer if no Cubase version is installed on your system or if the installed
Cubase version is older than Cubase 10.
• After download, click the “Open” button.
macOS
• Double-click the downloaded disc image, then follow the instructions on screen.
Windows 10
• Update Installer: Double-click the downloaded .exe file. It will be extracted and starts the installation
automatically. Follow the instructions on screen.
• Full Installer: Double-click the downloaded .zip file to extract it. From the extracted files, double-
click the “Setup.exe” and follow the instructions on screen.
Activation Code for your software
Where to find your Activation Code for your Cubase license depends on how you obtained
your Cubase version.
Download product from Steinberg Shop
Your Activation Code is sent to your email account and is contained within the “Steinberg Shop
Order Confirmation” email of your purchased Cubase version.
Box with Download Access Code
Your Activation Code is sent to your email account you have used to download your Cubase
version at MySteinberg.

Activating your license
After installation of the software, open the eLicenser Control Center application that is installed
with your product, and follow the instructions to activate your license.
Go to https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/ for more information on license activation.
Steinberg Library Manager
With the Steinberg Library Manager, you can easily manage your sound content.

Hardware drivers
Cubase requires recent drivers and components for your audio and remote controller
hardware, so please make sure that the latest versions are installed before you start working
with Cubase.
Go to www.steinberg.net/en/support/downloads to download the most recent drivers for all
Steinberg hardware from the respective download page.
Third-party plug-in support
Cubase supports 64-bit versions of VST 2 and VST 3 plug-ins and VST instruments.
Please make sure to have the most recent versions of third-party plug-ins installed. If in doubt,
contact the respective manufacturer.
32-bit versions of plug-ins and VST instruments are not supported.
