1. Introduction
1.1. Product description
SuperB starter batteries are Lithium Iron Phosphate rechargeable batteries, especially
developed for motorsports. Compared to conventional lead acid batteries, the SuperB starter
batteries save up to 80% in space and weight. They recharge very fast, have a long service
life and a low self discharge.
Please note that Li-ion batteries have to be treated differently from conventional lead-acid
batteries. We kindly ask you to pay attention to the warnings as mentioned on the battery:
1. Do not jumpstart, as high currents on a flat battery may damage it permanently.
2. Use a correct charging profile, as described in this manual.
3. Make sure the battery does not get deeply discharged. If the battery has no charge
remaining when you check it, consider it to be damaged. Do not attempt to recharge or use it.
4. This battery is specially developed for motorsport. If you want to use it on road, please
consult SuperB.
In Appendix I, the Declaration of Conformity for Super B starter batteries is given.

Bulk phase
In this phase the batteries are charged with a constant current up to the end of charge
voltage (Ubulk), If UBulk is reached the charger will automatically switch to absorption
phase. The maximum charge current (Imax) for SuperB batteries is mentioned in table
11, however for endurance cycle life SuperB suggests to limit the current to 1C =
nominal battery capacity. On some chargers the maximum charger active time (t0) can be
programmed. SuperB suggests setting t0 to: t0 = 2*(BTcap / Chcur)
Example: Battery capacity = 20Ah, Charger = 10A, Set to to a maximum of 2*(20/10) = 4 hours.
