TAKING CARE OF YOUR DIGITAL PIANO
This Suzuki digital piano will supply you with years of musical enjoyment if you follow the simple rules listed below.
SERVICEANDMODIFICATION
Thisproductshouldbe serviced by qualified service
personnelwhen,
the power supply cord or the plug has been dam-
aged,
liquid has been spattered into the unit or it has been
exposedtorain,
the instrument does not appear to operate normally
orexhibitsamarkedchangeinperformance,
the instrument has been dropped or the cabinet has
beendamaged.
Do not attempt to open the piano or make any
change in the circuits or parts of the unit.
HANDLINGANDTRANSPORT
Neverapplyexcessiveforceto the controls, connec-
tors or other parts of the instrument.
Alwaysunplugcablesby gripping the plug firmly, not
bypullingonthecable.
Disconnectallcablesbeforemovingtheinstrument.
Physicalshockscaused bydropping,bumping,or
placingheavyobjectsontheinstrumentcanresult
inscratchesand/ormoreseriousdamage.
Carefullychecktheamplifiervolume control before
statingtoplay. Excessive volume cancauseperma-
nenthearingloss.
CLEANING
Clean the cabinet and panel with a dry soft cloth. A
waxbasedpolishmaybeusedonthecabinet,
although rubbing with a soft cloth will usually
suffice. Donotuse paint thinner or petrochemical
basedpolishes.
To maintain the luster of the keys and buttons wipe
withaclean, lightly dampened cloth, and then
polish with a soft dry cloth.
LOCATION
Donotexpose the instrument to the following condi-
tionsto avoid deformation, discoloration,or more
seriousdamage,
direct sunlight (near a window),
high temperatures (near a heat source, outside, or
in a car during the daytime),
excessivehumidity,
excessivedust,
strong vibration.
Leaveenough space around the pianofor it to be
properlyventilated.
Thisinstrumentcontains digital circuitry and may
cause interference if placed too close to radio or
televisionreceivers. Ifinterferenceoccurs,move
the instrument further away from the affected
equipment.
Avoid placing vinyl objects on top of the instrument,
vinylcansticktoanddiscolorthesurface.
POWER
Turn the power switch off when the instrument is
not in use.
To avoid damage to the instrument and other
devices to which it is connected, turn the power
switches of all related devices off prior to connec-
tionordisconnectionof MIDI cables.
Turn the power off if the main cable is damaged or
the instrument is spattered with liquid.
Donot switch the unit on and offinquick succession,
thisplacesanundueloadontheelectroniccompo-
nents.
UnplugtheACpowercord during an electrical
storm.
AvoidpluggingtheACadaptorintothesameAC
outletasapplianceswithhighpowerconsumption,
suchaselectricheatersorovens.

1. Attachthehorizontal pedal assembly to the two legs. Usethefour Leg
Bolts.
Insert the Leg Bolts up through the holes on the side leg and into the
PedalAssemblyandtighten. Rememberingtodoallyourfinaltightening
onlyaftertheassemblyiscomplete.

4. Attach the piano to the stand using the four Hand Bolts.
5. PluginthePedal Board Cable located in the PedalBoardtothebottom,
back portion of the bottom right hand side of the piano.
6. If everything is in its proper place then you should do all your final
tighteningnow.

1. PLUGINTHEAC CORD - PlugtheACCordinto the AC ReceptacleJackonthe
back left portion of the panel. Then plug the AC cord into the 110V wall outlet.
2. TURN THE POWER SWITCH ON -Turnonthe power switch locatedontheleft
side of the keyboard (Ois off, and – is on). The display will welcome you and
setthevoicetoGrandPianoautomatically. Thedisplaywillshow“01:Grand
Piano1”.
NOTE: When you turn the power off, do not turn the power back on immedi-
ately. Wait at least five seconds to turn the power back on so that the circuit
canproperlyreset.
3. SETTHEVOLUME TOTHE DESIREDSETTING- Adjustthevolumecontroltoa
comfortablelevel by sliding theMaster Volume control left,for softer sound or
right, for louder sound.

PANEL CONTROLS
Theelegantcontrol panel is designed for simplicity of operationand isdivided
into several distinct sections. The following is a brief description of all the
featureslocatedonthe control panel.
1. MASTER VOLUME -Usethisrotarycontrolbuttontoadjusttheoverallvolume
ofthekeyboard.
2. BASSTONECONTROL- Slide this controllertoadjustthe bass tonelevel. To
addmoreBasstotheoveralltoneofthesounddeliverysystemslidetheBass
controlhigher.
3. TREBLETONE CONTROL- Slidethiscontrollertoadjust theTrebletone level.
Toadd more Treble to the overalltoneof the sound delivery system slidethe
Treblecontrol higher.
4. SONG VOLUME - Slidethis controller to adjust the volume of thebuilt-inplay
along songs, the keyboard instrument voice will not be affected.
5. DEMO -PresstheDEMO button. The first demo song will playbackinstantly.
Thispianohastendifferentdemonstrationsongs.
Toaccessanindividual demo song press the +/YESor–/NObuttonswhenthe
DemoFeatureis engaged. The Demo Songswillcontinuetoplayconsecutively
untilthe DEMObuttonor thePLAY/STOPbutton ispressed.

6. METRONOME- PresstheMETRONOMEbuttontoengagethe built-inmetro-
nome.Usethe+/YESand–/NObuttonswiththemetronomeengaged to
choose the meter of your choice, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 or 5/4 time.
NOTE: HG-415 - this panel buttons are located at the far right end of the
controlpanel
7. TEMPO- PressoneoftheTEMPObuttons, the current tempo valuewillappear
onthe display. You canusetheTEMPO +,TEMPO–buttons, orthe+/YESand
–/NO buttons to change the tempo value range from 40 to 240 bpm (beats per
minute). PresstheTEMPO + orTEMPO–buttonsor the +/YESand
–/NObuttons simultaneously to recall the defaulttemposetting. After three
secondsthedisplaywillreverttothe selected voice.
There is a four-dot beat indicator above the tempo buttons. It indicates the
tempoandbeat for the accompaniment that is playing.

8. INSTRUMENTVOICESELECTBUTTONS-Thereare10 instrumentvoices
buttonsand30instrumentvoices. You can instantly select an instrument voice
bypressingoneoftheinstrumentvoiceselectbuttons. Youcanselectthe
variation of the engaged voice by pressing the variation button. There is a
total of 3 instrument voices per instrument voice button. There is a complete
listofall 30 voices listed in the backofthemanual. Please see the Voice
section of this manual for more information.
9. VARIATION - This button selects the variation of the initial instrument voice
buttonsound. Pressing the VARIATIONbuttononetime turns thebuttonLED
greenwhilepressingthebutton a second time turns the button LED red.
Pressingthebuttonathird time turns the button LED off.
GreenLEDdenotesthefirst variation of the initial voice selection.
RedLEDdenotes the secondvariationoftheinitial voice selection.
WhentheLEDisofftheinitialvoiceselectionisheard.
10. FUNCTION-TheFUNCTIONbuttonisusedtoaccess thefunctionmenu. The
function menu can be used to adjust or change the parameters of a number of
settings. The reverb level, chorus level, touch, split point for voice, split point,
tuning etc. are all set from the function menu.

11. PAGE- ThePAGEbuttons(upanddown) are used to accessthedifferent
menusinthe Functionfeature. WhentheFUNCTIONbutton hasbeenpressed
usethePAGEDown orPAGEUpbuttonstoaccessthe Functionmenuselec-
tions.
12. USER REG -Registrationis usedtostore keyboardsettings. Pressthe USER
REGbuttontoengagetheregistrationmemory mode. There are two keyboard
memory settings. See Registration Section of this manual for more informa-
tion.

13. ENTERKEYS -Usethe +/YES,–/NObuttonsdirectly whileusingthevoice or
functionsettings. These buttons are alsoused to access or altermany of the
functionfeaturesorwheninputisnecessary.
13. REVERB -Thereverbeffectisengagedautomaticallywhenthepoweristurned
on. Reverb simulates the effect of playing in a big room or hall where the sound
reverberatesoffthewallsandceiling. PresstheREVERBbuttontoturnoffthe
reverb effect. You can switch the reverb feature on and off by pressing the
REVERBbutton. Reverb depthcanbechanged inthefunction menu.

15. CHORUS -The Choruseffectaddsdepth andspaciousnesstothe selected
keyboardvoice. Pressthe CHORUSbuttontoengagethe choruseffectandthe
indicator will light up. Press the button again to turn off the chorus effect.
Chorusdepthcanbechanged in the function menu.

16. LAYER -EngagingtheLAYER button will put thekeyboardinthelayermode.
Layerrefers to an additional voicethatis “tone mixed” with theselectedkeyboard
voice. The assigned layer voice will be heard together with the original voice. To
selectanewlayered instrument voice use the +/YES or –/NO buttonswithin3
secondsaftertheLAYERbuttonhasbeen engaged.
17. LOWER -WiththeLower feature engaged the keyboard operates in the “split”
mode. In the Lower mode the keyboard is divided into two sections. In the right
hand section the original and/or layered voice will sound, and in the left hand
sectionadifferentvoicecanbe assigned to sound when the keys are played. To
selectanew Lower instrument voice use the +/YES or–/NObuttonswithinthree
secondsafter theLOWERbutton hasbeenengaged.

18. TRANSPOSE -Thetransposefeaturecanshiftthepitchofthekeyboard up or
down in semitone intervals up to a maximum of 24 semitones. Press one of the
TRANSPOSEbuttons, the currenttransposevaluewill appearonthedisplay. Use
theTRANSPOSE+orTRANSPOSE–buttonsto setthetransposevaluerange
from–12, one octave lower, to 12,oneoctave higher. Press the + and –Trans-
pose value buttons simultaneously to recall the default value of 0. After three
secondsthedisplaywill return to the currently selected instrument voice.
19. SONG -This“PlayAlong Songs” or “Music Teacher”featurecanbeusedas an aid
tolearnthe 50+ songs built into thispiano. TheSONGbutton turns the “music
teacher”functiononandoff. PleaseseethePlayAlongSongsectionofthis
manual for more information.
20. LEFT , RIGHT -Thesebuttonsareusedin conjunction with the SONG button. It
allowstheplayer to play along with the prerecorded traditional songscontained
withinthis piano. The LEFT buttonwill play the right handof the selected song,
sothattheuser can practice the Left Hand portion of the song. The RIGHT
buttonwill play the LeftHand of the selectedsong, so that theuser can practice
theRight Hand portionofthesong. WhenengagingtheLEFT andRIGHTbuttons
simultaneouslyonlythemetronomecountwillsoundandtheusershouldplay
boththeLeftandRightportionsofthe selected song. Please see the Play Along
Song section of this manual for more information.

21. USERSONG -TheUSERSONGbuttonaccessesoneofthefouravailablesong
settingsforrecordingorplayback. Usethe+/YES,–/NObuttonstoselect the
song you wish, if there is recorded information on any of the three tracks their
indicator lights will light up. Please see the Record section of this manual for
more information.
22. TRACK 1, TRACK 2 AND TRACK 3 -There are three tracks for recording your
performanceforeachsongcomposition. Thesetracksareassignedbythe
TRACK1/2/3 buttons. PleaseseetheRecordsectionofthismanual for more
information.
23. REC - This unit is able to record four songs, each with 3 tracks. It will record all
noteevents as they are performed. This recorded informationisnonvolatile and
therefore will not be lost when the power is turned off. To Record press and hold
downtheRECORDbuttonthenpressthetrackbuttonyouwantto record in.
Recordingbeginsassoonasyoustarttoplayonanysectionofthekeyboard.
PresstheRECORDor PLAY/STOPbuttonagaintostoprecording. Pleasesee the
Recordsection of the manualfor more information.
24. PLAY/STOP -Pressthe PLAY/STOP buttontohearselectedtracks that youhave
recorded. PressthePLAY/STOP button againtostoptheplayback. Pleasesee

1. PLAY ALL DEMOSONGS -Press the DEMObutton. Thefirstdemo songwill
playbackinstantly. Thisunit has ten demo songs. All songs will then playrepeat-
edlyuntilyoupressthe DEMO button again to stop the demonstration.
2. PLAY ASINGLE DEMOSONG -Usethe+/YESorthe–/NObuttons tochange
songswhilethedemoisplaying. TheselectedDemosongswillplayconsecu-
tivelyuntilyou presstheDEMObutton or thePLAY/STOPbuttonto stop.
Thereare50+playalong songs that can also be played back for demonstration.
PleaseseethePlayAlongSongsectionofthismanualformoreinformation.
PLAYINGTHE DEMONSTRATION SONGS-Thispianohastendifferentdemon-
strationsongsthataredesigned to showcase the different sampled voices that are
available. The display will show the song number with a “d” prefix. When playing
allthesongs,“ALL” will appear on the display initially, and willchangetothedemo
song number as it plays. After exiting the demonstration mode the display will
reverttoitsinitialdefaultinstrumentvoiceLCDdisplay.

KEYBOARD VOICES
QUICKSELECT INSTRUMENTVOICES-Therearetenvoicesthatcanbeselectedquickly
bypressingoneof the ten voice select buttons. Each one of these Instrument
VoiceButtonshasthree instruments related to thatsoundgroup. Youcanaccess
theotherinstrument voices by usingtheVARIATIONButtonor by pressing the
+/YESor the –/NOButtons.
SELECTINGONEOFTHE30INSTRUMENTVOICES
1. PresstheVOICE Select Button thatcorrespondtothegroupof instrument voices
thatyou would like to play. The maininstrument voice of the selected Sound
GroupButton willbeshownon theLCDdisplay.
2. PresstheVARIATION Button to accesstheothertwoinstrument voices that are
availableinthe Voice SelectButtonthatyouhave engaged.
EverytimetheVariationButtonis pressed the Name of the Instrument Voice on
theLCD Displaywillbe changed.
Note: Whenpressing theVARIATIONButton onetimetheVariation ButtonLED
willbeGREEN indicatingthefirstvariationoftheoriginalinstrumentvoice.
WhenpressingthebuttonasecondtimetheVariation button LED will be
RED indicatingthesecondvariationoftheoriginalinstrumentvoice.
Whenthe VariationButtonLED is OFF theoriginalVoiceSelectButton instrument
voicecanbeheard.
USE+/YESOR -/NOTOSELECT INSTRUMENTVOICES
1. Pressthe+/YESor –/NO Buttons to cycle through all30instrumentvoices.
Holdingeither button down will autorepeat the cycle through all 30voices.
VOICE SELECTION -Thereare30instrumentvoicesand 10sound
button groups. The complete list of all 30 voices is in the back of
thismanual.

withtheoriginallyselectedkeyboard voice. The assigned layer voice will be heard
with the original voice when the layer feature is engaged.

LOWER VOICE -Inthe lower, or split, mode the keyboard is divided intotwoseparate
sections. To the right of the Split Point the currently selected main voice, or the
layered and main voice will sound. The keys to the left of the Split Point can play a
different instrument voice.

theoperationofthis keyboard. With the FUNCTION button engagedyoumay
accessthemenu for the Touch, MetronomeVolume,SplitPoint,Reverblevel,
LayerReverb Level,LowerReverb Level,Choruslevel,LayerChorusLevel,
LowerChorus Level, SongVolume, Octave,LayerOctave, LowerOctave,Pedal
Assign,Master TuneandGradeselections.
In the pages that follow each of these functions controls will be explained.
USINGTHEFUNCTIONPARAMETER MENU
1. PresstheFUNCTIONbutton. Thefirstmenuitemthatcanbemanipulatedwill
appearonthedisplayandtheFunctionLEDindicatorwillturnon.
