● Children must remove their bike or other sports helmet before playing on the swing.
● Children should not twist or loop the swing chains or ropes or loop over the support structure from which the swing
is hanging. This may weaken the strength of the supports or the rope.
● When in use, children should stand or sit on the center of the swing with their full weight distributed towards the
center.
● Empty swings should not be pushed. The swing could rebound and may cause serious injury.
● Children should be dressed appropriately when using the swing. Strings or loose clothing could get caught in the

● Use caution when the swing is wet. Water may cause issues with traction.
● Neveraddextraropetotheexistingincludedrope,astheprovidedropesarethemaximumlengthdesignedforuse.
● STRANGULATION HAZARD: Items that are not the Swurfer©Kick should not be used to hang or climb on. Jump
ropes, leashes, cables etc. could pose a risk for strangulation.
● WARNING: Regularly check your tree branch, as well as the rope and swing itself, for splitting, fraying etc. A
properly installed swing should not cause any damage or grooves in the tree. We recommend replacing the ropes
every couple of years,
CHOOSE THE RIGHT TREE
● Tree Type: The branches of a sturdy hardwood tree are best for a tree swing —oaks are ideal. Avoid fruit trees,
evergreens, or trees that split easily.
● Branch Size: A tree swing needs a branch at least 8” in diameter.
● Branch Condition: The branch chosen for a tree swing must be healthy. Inspect the branch from trunk to tip, and
avoid branches that show any signs of infestation, disease, splitting, or narrow connections to the main trunk. And
above all, don’t use a dead branch!
● Clearance: The branch should be large enough that the swing can hang at least 8 feet away from the trunk without
the branch bouncing, and the swing should have more distance from the trunk of the tree or any other objects
(fences, garages, houses, protruding branches, electrical wires, laundry pipes) as you have from the ground to the
branch.
● SwingAttachmentHeight:Theswingisdesignedtobeattachednomorethan10feet3inchesotheground.
INSTALLATION
● Install the swing only on a level surface.
● DO NOT install over concrete, asphalt, packed earth, grass, carpet, or any other hard surface. A fall onto a hard
surface can result in serious injury or death to the equipment user.
● To prevent serious injury, children must not use the equipment until properly installed.
● ALWAYS install the swing over a soft and proper shock-absorbent material such as wood chips, mulch, or shredded

protect children from head injuries should they fall.
● Ensure that the supporting structure is secure. This means it should support at least 600 pounds, is over level
ground, and has a minimum height of 8ft.
● Swingshouldhaveaclearanceofatleast1.5xthetotallengthofalltheropemeasuredfromthetreelimb/horizontal
beam to the plastic board attachment point.
● Remove any tripping hazards, such as rocks, tree stumps, loose toys etc. from the play area.

● If installing on a swing set, ensure the legs are anchored into the ground, as this swing may cause the swing set to
tip over.

STEP 1
Fold rope in half by aligning ends. Drape rope evenly over the
branch. Tip: To install without a tall ladder, connect string or twine to
a beanbag or a weighted sock. Make sure it’s long enough to make
it over the branch and back to the ground, and throw the weighted
object over the branch. Then, tie the string to the center of the rope
loop, and pull it up over the branch.
STEP 2
Pull the ends of the rope through the loop so it wraps tightly around
thebranch.Repeatsteps1-2withtheotherrope.Bothropesshould

STEP 4
Lace rope through holes on your Swurfer board. Tie a double
overhand knot beneath the board, and level your Swurfer by
adjusting the four knots. Trim rope and melt ends with lighter to
prevent fraying. Ensure that the lowest point of the swing is no

Note: Rope must be taped prior to cutting,
otherwise it will fray before you melt it.
