When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus

11. Refer all servicing to qualied service personnel. Servicing
is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any
way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid
has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the
apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not
operate normally, or has been dropped.
Introduction
Designed, engineered and built in the United Kingdom, the VSX Series from Tannoy comprises of three band-pass and two direct-radiating
subwoofers for demanding professional and commercial sound applications. Within the VSX Series, system designers can choose from a
variety of sizes, power levels and low frequency characteristics to suit particular requirements.
This Quick Start Guide presents only the essential information required to properly unpack and connect the subwoofer. Please consult the
full VSX Series Operation Manual for additional information on cable types, equalization, power handling, rigging and safety procedures, and
warranty coverage. The VSX Series Operation Manual is available at www.tannoypro.com.
The lightning ash with arrowhead symbol within an
equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the
presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage " within the
product's enclosure that may be of sucient magnitude
to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is
intended to alert the user to the presence of important
operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the
literature accompanying the product.

Crossovers&AmplifierOutputSettings
VSX Series subwoofers do not incorporate internal high-pass or
low-pass lters for restricting input signal bandwidth. Therefore, it is
recommended that the amplier output connected to the VSX subwoofer
should be band-limited by using either an external active crossover in
front of the amplier or a dedicated subwoofer output lter incorporated
in the amplier. Applying a full range output signal to the VSX Series
subwoofer input will reduce overall efciency and could risk damage to
the unit at higher operating levels.
Most generic subwoofer settings will be adequate for driver
protection and minimally satisfactory performance. However, for
optimum performance is it recommended that the crossover be set
for the requirements of the specic VSX model. The recommended
values for high-pass lter (HPF), low-pass lter (LPF) and PEQ
(parametric equalizer) are given in the full VSX Series Operation Manual.
Rigging and Safety Procedures
Tannoy Professional loudspeakers should be installed only by fully
qualied installers using dedicated Tannoy hardware, in accordance
with all the required safety codes and standards that are applied at
the place of installation.
WARNING: As the legal requirements for ying / suspending / hanging /
rigging loudspeakers change from country to country, please consult
your local safety standards ofce before installing any product. We
also recommend that you thoroughly check any laws and bylaws
prior to installation.

Unpacking
Each Tannoy VSX Series subwoofer is carefully tested and inspected
prior to shipment. After unpacking, please check for any exterior
physical damage, and save the carton and any relevant packaging
materials in case the unit again requires packing and shipping. In the
event that damage has been sustained in transit, notify your dealer
and the shipping carrier immediately.
Cables and Connectors
Inputs are provided on both speakON® NL4 connectors and barrier
strip terminals. Two inputs of each type are provided, with each set
wired in parallel, to enable connection of an additional subwoofer to
the same amplier output. Refer to the full VSX Operation Manual
for guidelines on maintaining proper combined system impedance
when connecting more than one unit by making parallel and series /
parallel connections.
The speakON connectors will accept wire up to 4 mm sq CSA
(AWG 12) with an outside diameter of up to 15 mm and a current
rating of 30 A. The pins of the two speakON sockets identied as
input / output on the rear of the input panel are paralleled within the
enclosure. Tannoy have adopted the conventional wiring standard
for the VSX Series product: pin 1+ is positive pin 1- is negative.
