oOperation stability has been improved.
Ver. C firmware update (Main: V1.03/DSP: V2.00)
oGapless playback is now supported.
This is enabled when a track has the same sampling frequency during continuous playback. (Gapless playback is enabled even when the
format of the track is different as long as it is a supported format.)
• Supported services: USB playback/network services (DLNA/Home Media only)
• Supported formats: MP3/WMA/WAV/AAC/FLAC/Ogg Vorbis/Apple Lossless
Ver. B firmware update (Main: V1.02/DSP: V1.04)
oWith some iPod Classic and iPod nano (2nd, 3rd and 4th generations) models, audio would not be output. This has been fixed.
oOperation stability has been improved.

Checking the firmware version
1 Press the MENU button.
oYou can also press and hold the MENU/ENTER (.//)
dial on the main unit to do this.
2 Use the direction (k/j) buttons to select
“Update”.
oYou can also turn the MENU/ENTER (.//) dial on the
main unit to do this.
3 Press the ENTER button.
You can also press the MENU/ENTER (.//) dial on the
main unit to do this.
4 Use the direction (k/j) buttons to select
“Version”.
5 Press the ENTER button to conrm the change.
This shows the current firmware version.
How the versions are shown
This unit has two types of firmware: Main and DSP.
Their versions are shown in the following format.
abcd-ef00-000
Main: a.bc
DSP: d.ef
Example
If “1001-0100-000” appears, the firmware versions are as follows.
Main: 1.00
DSP: 1.01
6 After checking the firmware version, press the
RETURN button to close the menu screen.

Firmware update procedures
Use the USB port on the front of the unit.
oA USB flash drive with at least 32 MB of capacity is necessary for updating the firmware.
Precautions when updating the firmware
oBefore updating, stop playback and disconnect anything con-
nected to the USB ports.
oWhile updating, never put the unit into standby mode, or dis-
connect the power cord or the USB flash drive being used for
the update.
oDo not access this unit from a computer during an update.
oCompleting the update takes about five minutes.
oSettings must be reset to their default values after updating.
(Settings cannot be retained.)
Update procedures
1 Connect a USB flash drive to the computer that
you are using and delete any les on it.
2 Download the rmware le to the computer from
our website.
The firmware file has a name like the following.
TC_CRNF002_00000000TA00TA_***.zip
Decompress this file on the computer. The following two files
will appear.
TC_CRNF002_00000000TA00TA.of1
TC_CRNF002_00000000TA00TA.of2
oDo not change the names of the decompressed files.
3 Copy the decompressed les to the root folder of
the USB ash drive.
Do not copy any files other than the decompressed files. Do
not copy the compressed file.
4 Conrm that this unit is on.
5 Connect the USB ash drive with the decompressed
les to the USB port on the front of the unit.
6 Press the SOURCE button to change the source to
USB(F).
“Now Initializing…” appears on the display, followed by the
name of the USB flash drive.
oLoading the USB flash drive takes about 20 to 30 seconds.
7 Press the MENU button to open the menu and use
the direction (k/j) buttons to select “Update”.

8 Press the ENTER button.
9 Use the direction (k/j) buttons to select “CDP
via USB?” and press the ENTER button.

oIf there is no firmware that can be used to update the
unit, “Not Available” will appear and updating will not be
possible.
10 Select “UpdateStart?” and press the ENTER button.
The unit firmware starts to be updated.
11 After “Complete” appears, disconnect the USB
ash drive.
12 Press the STANDBY/ON button to put the unit into
standby.
Wait several seconds before proceeding to the next step.
oDo not use the remote control STANDBY/ON (¤) button
in this case.
oIf you do nothing for three minutes, the unit will enter
standby automatically.
13 Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit on.
14 While the power is on, press and hold the stop
(8) button and press the STANDBY/ON button to
return the unit to its default state.
This completes the update. The unit should now be using the latest
firmware.
