forthisproductisverticalmountingwiththecompressedairinput
fittinglookingdownwardasshowninthesketch.Itisimportantto
considerinteriorairflowpatternswhendeterminingthemounting
location.Alsoofimportanceisanunrestrictedflowofambientair
thruthehotsideheatexchanger.Easeofaccessandinspection
mustbeconsideredforthoseapplicationsinparticularlysevere
environmentswhichmayrequireoccasionalmaintenance.
Verticalmountingreferstotheverticaldirectionofthecoldsideor
interiorfinsandisrecommendedforapplicationswithhighhumidity,
poorandincompletecabinetsealsoranyconditionwhichmay
causethecoldsidefinstobemaintainedattemperaturesbelowthe
dewpointforlongperiodsoftimeallowingfortheformationof
condensation.Theverticalfindirectionprovidesadrippath
whereuponcondensationcanbecollectedviaamoistureremoval
system(standardonFHP-units)oradrippanpositionedbelowthe
coldsidefins.Drippansareoptionalforthrumountunits.
Inorderforthisproducttofunction,sufficientamountof
compressedairmustbesuppliedthroughthe 3/8NPTfittingtoVortexAir
Amplifier.ToobtainmaximumperformancefromtheVortexAirAmplifier,accuratemeasurementsofairpressure(psi)
andairvolume(cfm)mustbeobtained.Linepressureof70-90psicanbepresentwithoutsufficientvolume(scfm)ofair.
ToensurethatbothpressureandvolumearepresenttoefficientlyoperatetheVortexAirAmplifier,alinesizeof1/4”
pipeor½”hoseshouldbeusedforapplicationsupto10feetfromthemainheader.Use3/8”pipeor3/4”hoseupto20
feet.and3/4”pipeor1”hoseupto50feet.Donotusecoiledhoseastheverysmallinsidediameter ofthehoselimits
airflow.
Airsuppliesareplaguedwithcondensedwatervaporintheairlines.Thiscondensationleadstorustanddirtinthe
airlines.Alsosomecompressorswillallowoiloroilvaportoenterthelines.SmallorificesintheVortexAirAmplifier
maybecomecloggedwiththerustdirt,andwaterdroplets.A5-micronfilterwillseparate99%oftheforeignmaterial
fromtheairsupplyallowingvirtuallymaintenancefreeoperation.Theuseofanoilfilterwillremovetheoildropletswith
aneffectivefiltrationof0.01ppmforanevencleanerairsupply.
AllFHP-SeriesandAHP-1400airconditionerscontainabuilt-incondensateremovalsystem.Thecondensatekit
consistsofaantifungalspongewithacondensatewick.PVCtubingisalsoprovidedfordrainage.Drippansare
optionalforthrumountunitswhichmustbeevaluatedonanindividualbasis.Equationsdefiningarelationshipbetween
thecoldsidefinandenclosuretemperaturesareprovidedtoassistintheevaluation.

Notesoncondensation:
Sincethetechnologyissolid-state,themaintenanceisminimal.Theonlymovingpartsarethefans.Itisrecommendedfor
harshordirtyenvironmentsthattheheatsinksbecleanedfromtimetotime.Thiscanbeaccomplishedbydirecting
compressedairovertheexternalfinsoronNEMA4versionsbyhosingtheunitdown.Thiswillincreasetheoveralllife and
performanceofthesystem.
Takecarewhenmountingnottodamagethesealbetweenthehotandcoldsidesinks.Donotattempttomountaunittoa
warpedsurfaceortrytomaketheunitsmountingsurfaceconformtoanunflatsurface.Donotpinchordamageanyleads
whenmounting.Donotovertightenanyinstallationscrew,usereasonableforce.Alwaysmountwithanycondensatedrain
down.Donotcompressthecoldsidebetweenthehotsideandanyothersurface.Donotobstructtheairflowoneitherside.
Whenmountingconsiderthenaturalairflowsoftheenclosure.Connectpoweronlyaftertheinstallationiscomplete.
Condensationoccursatthecoldsidefinswhenthesurfacetemperaturegoesbelowthedewpoint.Toreduceorremove
condensate,considerthefollowing:
•RegulatetheFinTemperatureabovethedewpoint.
•KeepEnclosureClosedandSealedfromOutsideHumidity.
•UseDesiccant(MoistureabsorbingGranules.)
•EmployCondensateRemovalSystem/DripPans.

The AHP-1200CXP is TECA’s first solid state air conditioner designed for use in hazardous environments in the
United Kingdom and European Union. The AHP-1200CXP features a unique air moving device that eliminates static
discharge that traditional fans can generate. A compressed air line is required for the air moving device. The
AHP-1200CXP has been successfully implemented with a purged enclosure and other approved equipment in
pharmaceutical, petrochemical and other similar applications.
