AHP-1200CXP
The AHP-1200CXP by TECA is the first solid state air conditioner designed for use in Class 1 Division 1 Groups B,
C and D hazardous environments in North America. The AHP-1200CXP features a unique air moving device that
eliminates static discharge that traditional fans can generate. A compressed air line is required for the air moving
device. The AHP-1200CXP has been used successfully in pharmaceutical plants on analyzers that monitor chemical
reactions.
As an integral part of a larger system AHP-1200CXP has been investigated in accordance with UL 3111-1, First
Edition, Rev. 6/94 Electrical Equipment for laboratory Use and CSA C22.2 No. 1010.1-92 Safety requirements for
Electrical Equipment for Measurement, Control, and Laboratory Use.
As an integral part of a larger system it has been investigated in accordance with NFPA 496 Edition Purged and
pressurized Enclosure for Electrical Equipment.

importanttoconsiderinteriorairflowpatternswhendetermining
themountinglocation.Alsoofimportanceisanunrestrictedflow
ofambientairthruthehotsideheatexchanger.Easeofaccess
andinspectionmustbeconsideredforthoseapplicationsin
particularlysevereenvironmentswhichmayrequireoccasional
maintenance.
Verticalmountingreferstotheverticaldirectionofthecoldside
orinteriorfinsandisrecommendedforapplicationswithhigh
humidity,poorandincompletecabinetsealsoranycondition
whichmaycausethecoldsidefinstobemaintainedat
temperaturesbelowthedewpointforlongperiodsoftime
allowingfortheformationofcondensation.Theverticalfin
directionprovidesadrippathwhereuponcondensationcanbe
collectedviaamoistureremovalsystem(standardonFHP-
units)oradrippanpositionedbelowthecoldsidefins.Drip
pansareoptionalforthrumountunits.
Inorderforthisproducttofunction,sufficientamountofcompressedairmustbesuppliedthroughthe3/8NPTfitting
toVortexAirAmplifier.ToobtainmaximumperformancefromtheVortexAirAmplifier,accuratemeasurementsofair
pressure(psi)andairvolume(cfm)mustbeobtained.Linepressureof70-90psicanbepresentwithoutsufficient
volume(scfm)ofair.ToensurethatbothpressureandvolumearepresenttoefficientlyoperatetheVortexAirAmplifier,
alinesizeof1/4”pipeor1/2”hoseshouldbeusedforapplicationsupto10feetfromthemainheader.Use3/8”pipeor
3/4”hoseupto20feet.and3/4”pipeor1”hoseupto50feet.Donotusecoiledhoseastheverysmallinsidediameter
ofthehoselimitsairflow.
Airsuppliesareplaguedwithcondensedwatervaporintheairlines.Thiscondensationleadstorustanddirtinthe
airlines.Alsosomecompressorswillallowoiloroilvaportoenterthelines.SmallorificesintheVortexAirAmplifier
maybecomecloggedwiththerustdirt,andwaterdroplets.A5-micronfilterwillseparate99%oftheforeignmaterial
fromtheairsupplyallowingvirtuallymaintenancefreeoperation.Theuseofanoilfilterwillremovetheoildropletswith
aneffectivefiltrationof0.01ppmforanevencleanerairsupply.
AllFHP-SeriesandAHP-1400airconditionerscontainabuilt-incondensateremovalsystem.Thecondensatekit
consistsofaantifungalspongewithacondensatewick.PVCtubingisalsoprovidedfordrainage.Drippansare
optionalforthrumountunitswhichmustbeevaluatedonanindividualbasis.Equationsdefiningarelationshipbetween
thecoldsidefinandenclosuretemperaturesareprovidedtoassistintheevaluation.

Sincethetechnologyissolid-state,themaitenanceisminimal.Theonlymovingpartsarethefans.Itisrecommended for
harshordirtyenvironmentsthattheheatsinksbecleanedfromtimetotime.Thiscanbeaccomplishedbydirecting
compressedairovertheexternalfinsoronNEMA4versionsbyhosingtheunitdown.Thiswillincreasetheoveralllife and
performanceofthesystem.
Takecarewhenmountingnottodamagethesealbetweenthehotandcoldsidesinks.Donotattempttomountaunittoa
warpedsurfaceortrytomaketheunitsmountingsurfaceconformtoanunflatsurface.Donotpinch ordamageanyleads
whenmounting.Donotovertightenanyinstallationscrew,usereasonableforce.Alwaysmountwithanycondensatedrain
down.Donotcompressthecoldsidebetweenthehotsideandanyothersurface.Donotobstructtheairflowoneitherside.
Whenmountingconsiderthenaturalairflowsoftheenclosure.Connectpoweronlyaftertheinstallationiscomplete.
Condensationoccursatthecoldsidefinswhenthesurfacetemperaturegoesbelowthedewpoint.Toreduceorremove
condensate,considerthefollowing:
•RegulatetheFinTemperatureabovetheDewpoint.
•KeepEnclosureClosedandSealedfromOutsideHumidity.
•UseDesiccant(MoistureabsorbingGranules.)

dateofdiscovery;(b)TECAmaytheneither,atitssolediscretion,inspectthe
productatBuyer’slocation,orrequirethattheproductbemadeavailableat
Buyer’sexpenseatTECA’spremisesforTECA’sinspectionwithin14daysof
thedateofnotification;and(c)theproductsaredefectiveandthedefects
resultfromfaultymaterialsand/orworkmanshipandnotinanywayfrom
accident,misuse,misapplication,mishandling,modification,oralterationbythe
Buyerortheshipper,TECAshall,atitssoleoption,repairorexchange
