MountingStyles:Both‘thrumount’and‘flushmount’unitscanbepositionedinanyorientationand
onanyenclosuresurface.Itisimportanttoconsiderinteriorairflowpatternswhen
determiningthemountinglocation.Alsoofimportance
isanunrestrictedflowofambient
airthruthehotsideheat
exchanger.Easeofaccessandinspectionmustbeconsidered
forthoseapplicationsinparticularlysevereenvironmentswhichmayrequire
occasionalmaintenance.
Verticalmountingreferstotheverticaldirectionofthecoldsideorinterior
finsandisrecommendedforapplicationswithhighhumidity,poorand
incompletecabinetsealsoranyconditionwhichmaycausethecoldside
finstobemaintainedattemperaturesbelowthedewpointforlongperiods
oftimeallowingfortheformationofcondensation.Theverticalfindirection
providesadrippathwhereuponcondensationcanbecollectedviaa
moistureremovalsystem(standardonFHP-units)oradrippanpositioned
belowthecoldsidefins.Drippansareoptionalforthrumountunits.
Therearetwolocationsforwiring.OneforthemainACinput,theotherfor
theDCcontrolsignals.Toaccesstheselocationsremovethetop hotside
shroud.Thereare4smallenclosuresunderneath,twoofwhichhave3/4
NPTtapsprovidedforlocallyandnationallyapprovedconduitfittings.Removethe
coverfromeachofthesesmallenclosuretoperformthefinalwiringconnections.

AllFHP-SeriesandAHP-1400airconditionerscontainabuilt-incondensateremovalsystem.Thecondensatekitconsistsofaantifungal
spongewithacondensatewick.PVCtubingisalsoprovidedfordrainage.Drippansareoptionalforthrumountunitswhichmustbe
evaluatedonanindividualbasis.Equationsdefiningarelationshipbetweenthecoldsidefinandenclosuretemperaturesareprovidedto
assistintheevaluation.
Thoughoftentheeasiestlocationtomountitisoftenthemostdifficulttoprotectfromcondensationinthisorientationduetothefin
orientation,gravityandanysusceptiblecomponentsbelow.Ifadrippanisemployedbytheenduserusecautiontoplacethepanfarenough
awayfromtheinternalfantominimizetherestrictionofairflow.Thepanshouldcoverthefinendsaswellasthefanarea.Whenthereisa
choice,theverticalorientationis preferredbymostusers.
Maintenance:
Sincethetechnologyissolid-state,therearenofilters,compressors,orfluorocarbonstomaintain.Theonlymovingpartsarethefans.Itis
recommendedforharshordirtyenvironmentsthattheheatsinksbecleanedfromtimetotime.Thiscanbeaccomplished bydirecting
compressedairovertheexternalfinsoronNEMA4versionsbyhosingtheunitdown.Thiswillincreasetheoveralllife andperformanceof
thesystem.
Takecarewhenmountingnottodamagethesealbetweenthehotandcoldsidesinks.Donotattempttomountaunittoawarpedsurfaceor
trytomaketheunitsmountingsurfaceconformtoanunflatsurface.Donotpinchordamageanyleadswhenmounting.Donotovertighten
anyinstallationscrew,usereasonableforce.Alwaysmountwithanycondensatedraindown.Donotcompressthecoldsidebetweenthehot
sideandanyothersurface.Donotobstructtheairflowoneitherside.Whenmountingconsiderthenaturalairflowsof theenclosure.
Connectpoweronlyaftertheinstallationiscomplete.
Condensationoccursatthecoldsidefinswhenthesurfacetemperaturegoesbelowthedewpoint.Toreduceorremovecondensate,
considerthefollowing:
•RegulatetheFinTemperatureabovetheDewpoint.
•KeepEnclosureClosedandSealedfromOutsideHumidity.
•UseDesiccant(MoistureabsorbingGranules.)
•EmployCondensateRemovalSystem/DripPans.
