Before using the appliance for the first time, please read the instructions
for use and safety information carefully.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities, or by persons lacking in
experience or knowledge, unless they are supervised or instructed on the
use of this device by a person responsible for their safety. Children should
be supervised to ensure they do not play with this device.
Keep this user manual for future reference or product sharing carefully. Do
the same with the original accessories for this product. In case of warranty,
please contact the dealer or the store where you bought this product.

Hints
Make sure you lay the cable in a way that the danger of stumbling is
avoided. Never hold or carry the device by the power cable. Do not
clamp or damage the power cable. Ensure that the power adapter do not
come into contact with water, steam or other liquids. You have to check
the complete construction at regular intervals for functionality, tightness
and damage to prevent the defect of the device. Only use the product for
purposes due to its intended function & only for household use. Do not
damage the product. Following cases may damage the product: Incorrect
voltage, accidents (including liquid or moisture), misuse or abuse of the
product, faulty or improper installation, mains supply problems including
power spikes or lightning damage, infestation by insects, tampering or
modification of the product by persons other than authorized service
personnel, exposure to abnormally corrosive materials, insertion of foreign
objects into the unit, used with accessories not preapproved. Refer to
and heed all warnings and precautions in the user manual.
Safety instructions
Never touch the device with wet or damp hands.
The device can only be operated with the voltage described on the rear
panel and on the power supply unit.
Do not position this device near moisture or water.
Do not place the device on an unstable surface. The unit could be
damaged or persons could be injured. Any attachments should be made
only in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions or obtained from
the manufacturer.
The cable is sheathed and insulates the current. Do not place any objects
on the cable, as this could cause the protective function to be lost. Avoid
placing excessive stress on the cable, especially at sockets and plugs.
If you want to pull the plug out of the socket, always pull on the plug and
not on the cable. The cable could otherwise break.
To protect the unit during a lightning storm or when it is left unattended
for long periods of time: unplug it from the wall outlet. This will prevent
damage due to lightning strikes.
Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or other wiring as this may
result in fire or electric shock.
Do not insert any objects into the openings of the unit, as current flows
in some places and contact may cause fire or electric shock.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet for cleaning.
Do not use liquid cleaners or cleaning sprays. The device may only be
cleaned with a damp cloth.

Do not connect any additional devices that are not recommended by the
manufacturer.
The openings of the housing are used for ventilation so that the device
does not overheat. These must always be kept free.
Warnings
WARNING!
Laser Class 1 Product
Do not look into the laser beam! It may result in eye damage.
Do not disassemble the TX-187, it may result in short-circuit or damage.
Battery warning: Improper use of the battery may cause fire or chemical
burns. The battery may explode in case of damage. When the device
works under AUX–IN mode, do not (!) increase the volume of your mobile
phone, PC, MP3/MP4 Player, CD, DVD etc. to a large extend; a sonic boom
or sound distortion may occur. In that case, decrease volume either of
mobile phone, PC, MP3/MP4 Player, CD, DVD or device. The sound gets
normal soon. Do not modify, repair or remove without professional
guidance. Do not use corrosive or volatile liquid for cleaning. Do not
drop or shake the TX-187, it may break internal circuit boards or
mechanics. Keep the TX-187 in dry and ventilated environment. Avoid
high humidity and high temperature. This TX-187 is not water-resistant;
keep it away from moisture. Keep the device away from little children.

Before the start
For the use of Internet Radio the following requirements are needed:
1. WiFi router with connection to the Internet
2. WiFi router needs to support 2.4GHz transmission and WiFi
(802.11b/g/n) standard.
Battery installation (remote control):
1. Pull off the battery contact lock on the remote
battery compartment.
2. The installed battery is a CR2025/3V button cell
battery. Please be sure if you insert according
correct polarity when changing the battery.
Battery Precautions
Follow these precautions when using a battery in this device:
●Use only the size and type of battery specified. ●Be sure to follow the correct
polarity when installing the battery as indicated in the battery compartment
(manufacturer's directions). A reversed battery may cause damage to the device. ●
Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. Alkaline and Carbon-zinc) or old
batteries with fresh ones. ●If the batteries in the device are consumed or the device
is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries to prevent damage or
injury from possible battery leakage. ●Do not try to recharge the battery not intended
to be recharged; it can overheat and rupture. ●Do not dispose of battery in fire.
Battery may explode or leak. ●Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device
prior to battery installation.
First start
Set language, confirm the privacy policy for My mediaU and get the network
ready.
Note: WiFi allows date transfer over short distances within 20 meters
without the need of cabling between the devices, any walls or ceilings may
reduce the strength of the WiFi connectivity.
1. Plug in the power adapter to the back of the TX-187 and the other end
to a power socket. The TX-187 powers on and starts up.
2. Choose the language to operate the TX-187 in.
By either rotating the knob (12) on the

on the remote to cho

confirm it by pressing Enter (15).

3. Configure the WiFi network
3.1 Enable “Check network when power on”?

press the WPS button on your router.
3.3 If you answer ‘Yes’, the display goes to
scanning for WiFi Network and shortly afterwards
a list of available WiFi networks will appear.
Select your network and confirm with Enter. If
your WiFi is password
-
protected, you will be
prompted to enter your password.
Note: ●The number of bars in the wireless symbol in front the network
name(SSID) shows the relative signal strength of the network.
●
The key symbol indicates that the network is password-protected. ●
If the
TX
-187
does not find any WiFi networks and “No wireless Networks found”
appears on the display, change the position of the
TX-187
if necessary and
check your WiFi router. Search again for WiFi afterwards.
3.4
Enter the password using the buttons on the
TX
-187 or the numbers and letters
of the remote
control.
Note
: The password is case-sensitive.

It may take a few seconds to establish the connection to the network.
Once the connection is established, the main menu appears with the main
menu items:
Internet Radio: Access to worldwide radio stations
USB: Playback your audio files saved on USB disk
FM: Listen to your local analog radio stations
DAB/DAB+: Listen to your local digital radio stations
CD: Playback music from your vintage CDs
AUX: Playback music from external sources
Bluetooth: Playback music from your Smartphone or Tablet
Configuration: Various system settings
Press the button to enter standby mode. The
time, date and any active alarm times display on
the screen.
Main Menu (Modes)
Switch through the modes by rotating the knob (5) or press the arrow
buttons (16) on the remote control. Press the knob (5) or the Enter button
(2) on the remote to open the mode. To navigate through the mode’s
submenu, use the knob (5) and the arrows (7/9) or the arrow buttons (16)
on the remote as well es the Enter button (2).
Use the Menu button (3) on the device or the Home button (15) on the
remote to get back to the Main Menu, where you can choose between the
different modes.
Internet Radio
Choose Internet Radio mode from the main menu and confirm with Enter.

My Favorite:
List of my favorite preset stations.
During the station playing screen, press and hold Favourite (6) or FAV (8)
on the remote to add it. Press enter button (2) or the knob (5) to save the
station as my favorite. The symbol appears in the top line of the display
while the device is saving.
If the selected station has been saved, you cannot save it again.
The saved stations are shown under this menu. You may also press FAV
to enter the saved station list.
Under the preset station list, move to your station, press Enter to listen,
You may also press to enter its submenu to Delete (deletes a radio
station from the favorites list), Shift Up/down along the list, Rename (you
can give the radio station a name of your choice), or Play.
Press FAV, then rotate the KNOB on the device or using the or of
remote control to recall the saved station.
250 storage spaces are available for your favorites.
Radio Station (Choose):
Stations are categorized into Global Top 20,
Genre, Country/Location
and Highlight.
Press Enter to continue the subcategories and
choose the station to listen.
For each station, press Enter to play directly. You may press to enter its
submenu – you can Add to Favorite, Auto Scan, or Play.
When you choose Auto Scan, every radio station in the chosen
subcategory will be play backed for about 15 seconds before it moves to
the next one until all have played. Or your press Enter to stop the Auto
Scan function.
Sleep Radio:

A list of different preinstalled radio stations that play calming sounds to get
you to sleep or calm down. Choose one of them with the knob (5) and press
enter (5). Or use the arrow buttons (7/9) and the Enter button (2) on the
remote to choose.
History:
A list of last listened stations. It can save up to 10 history stations.
For each station, press Enter to play directly. You may press to enter its
submenu – you can Add to Favorite, Auto Scan, or Play.
When you choose Auto Scan, every radio station in the chosen
subcategory will be play backed for about 15 seconds before it moves to
the next one until all have played. Or your press Enter to stop the Auto
Scan function.
Service:
Search radio station- Enter your keyword to
search radio station from the list.
Add new radio station

be stored in My Favorite.
Note that the maximum character of the station
name is 250.
USB
Choose USB mode from the main menu and confirm with Enter.
Plug in a USB flash drive with max. 1TB (formatted in EXFAT). Switch to
USB mode. Now you can play the tracks one by one.
NOTE: If a folder is selected, only the tracks in that folder will be played.
Turn the Knob (5) on the unit or press the or button on the remote
control to select the folder in USB flash drive. Press the ENTER button on
the device and remote control to play the desired file.
During playing:
Press the button to Pause/Play
Press the button to skip track back and forth
Press the button to return back to current playing file list
Under Configuration Playback Setup you can switch between Off,
Repeat all, Repeat one or Shuffle
NOTE: Supported audio files are MP3 & WMA only

FM
Choose FM mode from the main menu and
confirm with
Enter.
FM radio mode receives
analogue radio from the FM band
.
For better reception, remove the telescopic
antenna (1

) from the holder on the back of the
device and pull it out completely.
Let the system scan for ALL station by pressing ENTER on the device or
remote. Confirm with Yes if you want to auto scan for FM stations by
pressing Enter (5) or Enter (2) on the remote. The searched stations will
automatically be stored in preset station list. To switch between the stored
stations press the / buttons.
Alternatively, you can set the FM radio stations manually. Press or
button on the device or using the or button of remote control to search
FM station. Each step moves 0.05MHz.
It is faster to find a FM radio station by pressing and holding or button
on the device or using the or button of remote control to auto search
the next FM station. The frequency display starts to run up as TX-187 scans
the FM band. It stops when it has received a station. You may press or
on device or remote control to tune station manually.
Press and hold the FAV (9) button on the remote control or on the device
to save the station.
You can save up to 99 station. Press FAV, then press or on the remote
control or press Fav button on the device to recall the saved station. Rotate
the Knob (5) to choose the desired radio station.
In the Preset list you can change the order of the saved FM radio stations.
Use the on device or remote control to shift up or down the position.

DAB/DAB+
Choose DAB/DAB+ mode from the main menu and confirm with Enter.
DAB/DAB+ radio mode receives digital radio from the DAB+ band.
For better reception, remove the telescopic antenna (16) from the holder
on the back of the device and pull it out completely.
The display will show DAB in the top left corner. First time entering the
mode the device will automatically scan for DAB+ radio stations. After the
scan has finished the radio stations are saved.
NOTE: The order of the found radio stations cannot be changed. You can
only add your desired radio stations to the preset list for faster access.
To listen to the stored DAB+ radio stations, use either the Knob (5) on the
device or either or buttons on the remote control to cycle through the
stations. When you reach the desired station press the ENTER button on
the remote control or the Knob (5) on the device to begin playback of that
station.
DAB quick scan:
Press the Scan button (5) on the remote control to start the scan. You are
asked “Delete station list?” Answer with yes if you want the current list to
be replaced, answer with No if you want to just want to scan for additional
or new radio stations and answer with ESC if you want to cancel the quick
scan. Choosing Yes or No causes the scan to start.
NOTE: If you are playing a radio station from the preset list you are not
able to use the scan function by pressing the Scan button (5) on the remote.
You need to use the button until in the left bottom corner you see Scan.
Preset Recall:
Press and hold the Fav button on the remote control or on the device to
save the station. The symbol appears in the top line of the display while
the device is saving. You can save up to 99 stations. Press Fav, then press
or on the remote control or use Knob (5) button on the device and
press and hold Fav to recall a saved station.

CD
Open the CD door by pressing Eject button (8) on the device or Eject (1)
on the remote. Insert a CD disc into the CD compartment. Push the CD
rack back in or press again Eject to close the CD compartment.
Choose CD mode from the main menu and confirm with Enter. The TX-187
automatically starts reading the inserted CD. IF the CD has the correct
format the TX-187 starts the playback of the CD.
CD operation:
Press button on device or the remote control to start play.
Press button on device or on the remote control to pause.
Press button on the device (2) or on the remote control to stop play.
Press or /or button on the remote to skip backward or forward to the
desired track.
Rotate the Knob (5) on the device or press V- or V+ button on the remote
control to turn the volume down or up.
AUX
Choose AUX mode from the main menu and confirm with Enter. To adjust
the volume, rotate the Knob (5) and volume buttons on the external device
and on the TX-187.
You can play music directly from a device connected via an AUX cable.
Plug one end of 3.5mm AUX–IN cable into AUX–IN connector (13) and the
other end into AUX-OUT (Headphone jack) connector of MP3 Player,
Smartphone, PC or CD player to listen to music.
NOTE:Under AUX mode, only vol–/vol+ work. By pressing Mute button (4)
on the remote you can mute the TX-187 but the song plays along, because
it is coming from an external device. Switch songs on the external device
in AUX-mode.

Bluetooth
Choose Bluetooth mode from the Main menu and confirm with Enter.
Make sure that no other Bluetooth device is connected to the radio.
“Bluetooth Disconnected" will appear on the display.
Activate Bluetooth mode on the device that you want to connect. Look for
The radio on the list of detected devices on the Bluetooth device (refer to
the instruction manual of the device). Once the devices have found each
other, the radio will appear as “Technaxx TX-187“ on the Bluetooth device.
Select Technaxx TX-187 from the list. If you are required to enter a PIN
code, enter 0000 (four zeros). Certain devices may also require you to
approve the connection.
Once the connection has been successful, “Bluetooth Connected” will
appear on the display of the radio. Start playback on your Bluetooth device.
Control the playback from the Bluetooth device or from the TX-187 using
the Vol+/Vol- on the TX-187 and remote control. Adjust the volume both on
the Bluetooth device and the TX-187.
NOTE:Activate the Bluetooth feature on the phone and set the phone to
search for Bluetooth devices. Check the user guide of your phone for
instructions.
Auto reconnection:
When the TX-187 is in off state, switch it on and it will reconnect
automatically to the last connected device if it is reachable.
Further modes that could be enabled
You can enable the following modes to be seen in the Main menu by going
to ConfigurationMenu. Here you find the below disabled modes.
Local Radio
There is a shortcut Local Radio so that you can easily go to the station list
of your location.
The device can use the IP address to detect its current location and can
then automatically generate a list of local radio stations. However, you can
also enter a different country.

Sleep Radio
A list of different preinstalled radio stations that play calming sounds to get
you to sleep or calm down. Choose one of them with the knob (12) and
press enter (12). Or use the arrow buttons (13, 17) and the Enter button
(15) on the remote to choose.
Podcast
Under Podcast you can check for podcasts you like and play them back
directly from the TX-187 without connecting a Smartphone.
Following options you find as submenu: My Favorite, Country/Location,
Genre, History and Search
My Favorite: Here you can save your favorite episodes of the podcast.
NOTE: It is not possible to save your podcast artist as favorite!
Country/Location: Podcasts are sorted by Country.
Genre: Podcasts are sorted by Genre.
History: Find the last heard podcasts.
Search: Here you can download the free App mediaU, by scanning the QR-
code from the display. With that App you can use your Smartphone as
remote for the TX-187 when TX-187 and Smartphone with installed App
are in the same network.
UPnP
If you have set up shared media, you should see
the shared media form
UPnP.
If you have more than one computer sharing
media, the alternatives are listed. SELECT the
shared media you want to play.
After that chose
the
desired folder with the mu
sic files and start
playback.
NOTE:
Videos or pictures cannot be shown on
the TX-187.
NOTE: If you are not able to see your shared media folder on the TX-187
UPnP mode, check whether media streaming is enabled under Windows.
Therefor go to: “Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing
Center\Media Streaming Options” Or search under Windows for “Media
Streaming Options”
NOTE: The radio can only read the track with the file name less than 40
characters. And the characters should be in European language. If you

encounter failure of reading the track under UPnP mode, you may try to
rename the file.
However, if the track is still unable to play, you can try converting the file to
MP3 or WMA format.
Media Center
The Media Center mode combines the Podcast, USB and UPnP modes to
have less shortcuts in the Main menu. To get information for each mode go
through the manual and check each point.
Timer
Set a timer by using the arrow buttons on the device or the remote. Start
the set timer by pressing Enter button. Stop the timer by pressing Enter.
Stop the alarm by pressing any key on remote or device.
Maximal timer setting is 99:59min, minimal timer is 00:01min
Alarm
Alarm1: Set the Alarm on/off. After that set Repeat (Everyday, Once, Mon,
Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun), Time (HH:MM) and Sound (Beep, Melody,
Internet Radio, FM, DAB/DAB+, USB, CD).
Alarm2: Set the Alarm on/off. After that set Repeat (Everyday, Once, Mon,
Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun), Time (HH:MM) and Sound (Beep, Melody,
Internet Radio, FM, DAB/DAB+, USB, CD).
NAP Alarm: Set a time between 5-120min to automatically set the TX-187
into standby mode. To stop the alarm press Enter to Snooze it for further
5minutes or press the button to turn the alarm off.
Alarm Volume: Set the volume of the used alarm sound between 5 and 30.

Configuration
Set up and configure the device.
Time Display
Enter the setting to choose Analog or Digital clock for standby display.
Choosing digital, set the color of the digital clock numbers as well.
Confirm your choice by pressing Enter.
Network
Wireless Network Configuration:
Enable / disable WiFi network.
When you enable the WiFi network, the
system
will automatically
scan for WiFi networks in the
range of the
TX-187.
Select your required WiFi router.
You may refer to the
chapter First start
, for
detailed
network setting.
Wireless Network (WPS PBC):
If you are using a router with WPS/QSS button,
you may set up the network connection simple via
WPS function. Enable the connection by enter
ing
the setting. After that
press the WPS/QSS button
on your router within 1
20seconds. The
connection between the router and TX-187
will
then be configured automatically.
Manual Configuration:
Set the wireless configuration manually. You can choose DHPC (IP
assigned automatically) or manually input IP address for wireless network
connection.
After that set the SSID choose the encryption code to connect the WIFI.
If the wireless network connection is not existed or failed, the icon at the
top left corner will have a cross on it.

Check Network when Power On:
Enable / disable WiFi network.
When you enable the WiFi network, the system will automatically search
the available WiFi-Router. Select you required WiFi-Router.
Setup PIN for APP:
Enable the PIN for App to secure the access to the TX-187. The App asks
you to enter the shown PIN shown on the TX-187. When the function is
disabled everyone with the App in the same WiFi network can control the
TX-187.
Date & Time
The date and time settings can only be made if the Internet radio is
connected to a wireless network.
Set date and time:
Manual Setup: Enter the time and date by using
the Knob (
5) and or
buttons on the device or
use the arrow buttons on the remote. Confirm
the settings wi
th Enter.
Auto Detect: The internet radio takes the date
and tim
e automatically
from a central server
once a network connection has been
established.
NOTE: you will need to change the time manually to account for the change

Set date format: In the positions of YYYY (year), MM (month) and DD (day)-

Alarm
There are three independent alarms – 2 alarms of absolute time setting
(Alarm 1 and Alarm 2) and 1 alarm for relative time setting (NAP Alarm).
Alarm1: Set the Alarm on/off. After that set
Repeat (Everyday, Once, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu,
Fri, Sat, Sun), Time (HH:MM) and Sound (Beep,
Melody, Internet Radio, FM; DAB/DAB+, USB,
CD).

During alarm, press
button to stop the alarm, Press the any
button on
the device
or the remote
to enter snooze mode. It will alarm again in 5
minutes.
NOTE: The alarm source is from the favorite internet radio stations if Alarm
Sound is set to be Internet Radio/FM/DAB. It Can only set one same
IR/DAB/FM station for Alarm 1 and Alarm 2. When it reaches the alarm
time, if set the alarm source is internet Radio, the unit connects to the
internet if the set network is available. Therefore, there may be some delay
from the alarm to the radio play. If no network is connection in one minute,
the alarm will change to melody automatically.
NAP Alarm: Set a time between 5-120min to automatically set the TX-187
into standby mode. To stop the alarm press Enter to Snooze it for further
5minutes or press the button to turn the alarm off.
Alarm Volume: Set the volume of the used alarm sound between 5 and 30.
NOTE: When the alarm(s) is /are set, there will be a clock icon at the bottom
of the display. The clock icon with alarm time will also clearly display on the
standby mode screen.
Scheduled playing
Set on/off. When you set on you can set:
- Repeat: Choose Everyday, Once, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun
- Time: Set start time (left) and end time(right)
- Sound: Choose the mode Internet Radio, FM or DAB/DAB+. Then choose
a radio station from your favorites/presets that will be played.

Select the OSD language: English /German/
