UNPACKING
Carefully unpack the unit. If it is damaged, please
return it to your nearest Tesco store for replacement.
Remember to take your purchase receipt with you.
Retain the User Handbook. If you pass the unit on to a
third party make sure you pass on the handbook.
We suggest you retain the packaging. If you dispose of
it, do so having regard to any recycling regulations in
your area.

nearest TESCO store for a replacement. Have your
receipt ready when you call. Retain the packaging. If

LOCATION
Place the unit on dry stable surface away from heat
and damp and where it is unlikely to fall or be knocked
over.
GETTING STARTED
CONNECTING POWER
Check that the mains voltage marked on the rating•
plate of the AC adaptor is the same as the voltage
in your area.
Plug the DC cable from the AC adaptor into the DC•
5V IN jack on the back panel.
PlugtheACadaptorintothe wall socketand switch•
the mains power on.
Initialisation begins -
A welcome message is displayed.
The radio will tune to the last station played.
DAB/FM AERIAL
Beforeusingyour radiofor DAB orFM reception,always
fully extend the telescopic aerial.

adjusted to dierent positions for the clearest sound.

The display includes an auto-dim feature.
When one of the controls is adjusted, the display will
automatically brighten for a few seconds.

STANDBY CONTROL
Switching the radio on:
Press the• Standby button to switch on the radio.
The radio will re-tune to the last station playing.
Setting the radio to Standby:
Press the• Standby button to set the radio to Standby.
The time and date will be displayed.

FIRST TIME USE
INITIAL SCAN
scanallusablestationsandstorethemalphanumerically
- 1 Radio, 2 Radio, AA Radio, AB Radio...Theinitial scan
will take a few minutes. After the scan, the number of
stationsfoundwill be displayed, andthe radiowillplay
move it toa location with a stronger signal.When you
switch the radio back on it will automatically repeat
the scan process.
SETTING THE CLOCK
Automatic clock setting:
The clock on your radio is automatically set from the
time signal broadcast with DAB radio stations.
Manual clock setting:
If DAB reception is not available in your area, you can
set the time manually via the menu as follows -
Pressand hold the INFO/MENUbutton.•
Pressthe• buttonrepeatedly,until<SYSTEM>
is displayed.

NOTE: Manual time and date settings will be
automatically updated if the radio receives a DAB
broadcast.
NOTE: If the radio is disconnected or there is a power
loss, time and date settings will be lost until next time
a DAB radio is tuned or the clock is manually set.

ADJUSTING THE VOLUME
SELECTING A DAB STATION
After scanning, the stations are stored in an
alphanumeric station list.
To select another station:
Press the• or button to browse the
station list.
Press the• Enter control to select the
station displayed.
To adjust the volume:
Turn the• Volumecontrol clockwise to
increase or anti-clockwise to decrease the volume.
The volume level will be displayed on a bargraph.
FM RECEPTION
Your radio can also receive FM band radio stations.
To change between the DAB and FM bands:
Press the• Mode button.
The radio will change band and the station name (DAB)
or tuned frequency (FM) will be shown on the display.
DAB/FM BANDS
Select the FM band.•
To scan for FM stations:
Press the• SCAN button to scan up the band
for stations. or
Press and• hold the SCAN button to scan down the
band for stations.
Tuning will stop automatically when the next station is
reached.
To manually tune to FM stations:
Press the• or button to tune up or down
the band in 0.05MHz steps.
DAB & FM PRESETS
Your radio can store up to 10 of your favourite stations
as presets on both the DAB and FM bands.
To store a preset:
Tune to the station you want to store as a preset.•
Press and• hold the PRESET button.
‘Preset Store’ will be displayed with a preset number to
store. If a station is already stored in this preset number,
the station details will be shown.

CHANGING THE DISPLAY MODE
Press the• INFO/MENU button repeatedly to step
through the display modes available.
DISPLAY MODES
MULTIPLEX NAME: DAB Digital radio stations are
broadcast in multiplexes. Each multiplex is a bundle of
radio stations transmitted in a single frequency. There
are national and local multiplexes; local ones contain
name of the multiplex name that contains the station
you are listening to.
MULTIPLEX NUMBER/FREQ: This option will display
the number and frequency of the multiplex that
contains the station you are listening to.
SIGNAL ERROR: A count of the signal errors is shown.
The lower the number, the better the signal quality.
The Signal error display will help with re-positioning
the aerial for best performance.
AUDIO BIT RATE: DAB allows broadcasters to vary the
BIT RATE (or the amount by which an audio signal can
be compressed) depending on the type of broadcast.
This enables the number of stations on a multiplex to
be maximised. Speech and News are often broadcast
at a lower Bit Rate; music needs a higher Bit Rate for
good quality.

DAB DISPLAY MODE OPTIONS
DLS (Dynamic Label Segment): This is a scrolling
message giving real-time information - song titles,
news headlines, etc.
SIGNAL STRENGTH:
This bargraph indicates the quality
ofthesignalbeingreceived.Themaximum signalstrength
displayed is indicated by 8 bar segments. In low signal
areas, adjusting the aerial to increase the signal strength
indication will improve reception quality.
PROGRAMME TYPE: This describes the style of the
programme being broadcast.
FM DISPLAY MODE OPTIONS:
PressingtheINFO/MENU buttonrepeatedlywhen in
FMmode will step the display through the available
FM display options.
RDS (SCROLLING TEXT): This is a scrolling message
giving real-time information - song titles, news
headlines, etc.
PROGRAMME TYPE: This describes (when available)
the style of the programme being broadcast.
STATION NAME: Displays the name of the station you
are listening to.
AUDIO MODE: The mode displayed is mono/stereo.
TIME & DATE: Shows the current time and date. Time

ADVANCED OPERATION
Advanced operation functions are available through
the menu system.
To browse the menu options:
Press and hold the• INFO/MENU button:

DAB SETTINGS MENU OPTIONS
FULL SCAN: Select Full Scan to re-scan the entire DAB
band and refresh the station list.ALocalScan (selected
withtheSCAN button) will scanonlythebands usedin
the locality of the radio. A full scan will scan all bands.
MANUAL TUNE: You can also manually tune the DAB
band(recommendedfor advancedusersonly).This will
enable you to check for active multiplexes.
Select the Manual Tuning menu option.•
The multiplex channel number and frequency will be
displayed. If a station multiplex exists on this frequency,
the multiplex name will also be displayed.
Press the• or button to change to
another multiplex channel.
Press the• Enterbutton to check the
signal strength of this multiplex.
PRUNE:Ifyourstationlistincludes
no longer receive (you may have moved to a dierent
stationsthatyoucan
area), you can select the‘Prune’option to remove the
unavailable stations from the Station List.
SYSTEM SETTINGS
Press and hold the INFO/MENU button to select
"SYSTEM" from the the unit to select one of the
system setting sub-options.

The sub-option menu will now open.
SYSTEM>TIME: Select the time option to set
the clock manually. The full manual clock setting
operation is described in the‘FIRST TIME USE’section.
SYSTEM>LANGUAGE: Selecting one of the language
options available will change all display indications to
the selected language.
SYSTEM>FACTORY RESET: Select the ‘Yes’ sub-option
to reset all the settings of your radio to factory original
settings. The station list will also be cleared and any
stored preset memories will be erased. After a factory
reset the radio will re-scan the band and renew the
station list.
SYSTEM>SW VERSION: This option will display the
version number of the control software currently
installed in your radio. This will be helpful to a
technician who is servicing the radio.
FM SETTINGS
WhensettotheFMband,youcan selecta INFO/MENU
option to change the scan sensitivity to stop on all
stations or just to stop on strong stations.

SNOOZE FUNCTION
When the alarm sounds, you can press the“SNOOZE” button
on the front of the radio.Repeatedly press the SNOOZE button
to increase the Snooze time .Options of 5,10,15 and 30minutes
are avaiiable.“Snooze” and the number of minutes until the
alarm sounds again will be displayed。
Note:You can press the “Standby”button to stop the Snooze
function.

months from the date of purchase. If a fault develops

FACTORY RESET

DAB is a terrestrial system and frequencies in different
vary. If you move the radio to another part of the
country, performing a scan may not be enough to re
program the radio you may need to reset the radio.
Factory reset is an option available from the Advanced
Settings menu.
To restore the factory settings:
Follow the instructions in the ADVANCED OPERATION •
section to select Factory Reset from the menu.
The Radio will now re-start and scan the DAB broadcast
stations in your area.
After reset all settings are returned to the factory
defaults and any stored presets are erased.
